Have used this location for years. I will never go back again. New manager of 2 months changed what he said every couple of minutes. I don't know why someone like this would be allowed to interface with the public or why an employee would be allowed to drive away a customer of decades. At one point the man said everyone knows that "legally" a verbal agreement is the same as a written agreement when I questioned why I was not given the opportunity to sign off on work being done, as I always have done in the past at any auto repair center. When his coworker questioned him he forbid me to ask the coworker a question then dismissed him. Like another reviewer I would be particularly careful of examining the actual brake warranty and the rotor quality in writing. I really recommend people go elsewhere. At the very least have a witness by your side. Far more serious things happened but I am not going to write them here. I left stunned and shaken. read more

I went in for a front end alignment, and asked them to check the brakes. I was told there was approximately another 10,000 miles on before needing new brakes. Terrible experience. Read the fine print on their "lifetime" brake warranties. They cover a prorated percentage of the brake pads only - which equates to like 50 bucks - with everything else covered only for 12 months or 12,000 miles. I had to replace the junk front and rear rotors that they sold me only 13 months after installation. The manager told me that that was "normal" for their parts and "what he would expect to see." Christian Brothers did the work for less than Brakes Plus did last year AND have a full labor and parts 36 month, 36,000 mile warranty that covers brake pads, rotors, and everything (as it should). They said a lot of shops around town make big bucks selling and installing cheap parts from China - big profit margins up front and then they get to do the work all over again at more profit the next year. We'll never be back with any of our cars. read more

My brakes had been squealing for a while and my brake light finally prompted me to take it into the shop. This location was very friendly and communicative. They were a bit short staffed the day I brought my car in and said they would make best efforts to get my brakes inspected before the day's end. They certainly came through! They were able to replace my front brakes, which were running on their last legs, and returned my car in a timely manner, same day! Scheduled a simple alignment, but had a real positive experience. As a woman, let me highlight this- This is the first time I've been to a place that specializes in automotive care, where I didn't feel treated differently for being a female. No mansplaining; no preferential treatment. I loved it. I've also been fiscally ripped off in the past or straight up lied to due to my limited knowledge of mechanics. Not here! So yes fantastic true equal and honest treatment. They did not speed talk results to me. Gave me the conclusion simply and offered to show me the factual details. I kindly declined because I accept my knowledge limitations and I was short on time, and they were very accepting to that response without making me feel judged or ignorant. While I was driving, a lady let me know my tire was extremely wobbly and loose looking like it was going to fall off. I rushed into two other shops that said they didn't have time to look at it today. When I got to Brakes Plus, they were more than happy to assist me! I chose this location because it has the best google review and it's across the street from their corporate office. It's a great location to drop off and walk over to juicy burgers or twin peaks for a beer. They also have a smoothy burritos place inside the building. One of the biggest first world problems is when your alignment is off. It's painful like seeing your beloved Lexus having lower back pain. $67 for alignment but they usually have coupons on the back of Rockies tickets. Alignment pulls straight now. I'm sorry to have to write this review. We'd been customers of this Brakes Plus for over ten years because they were always honest, friendly, and got repairs done quickly. I took our van in because it was clicking when I tried to start it. Eventually it would start, but I didn't want to get stuck somewhere when it finally didn't. I'm not a car guy, but it was a classic starter problem. When I took it in I told them I needed the starter replaced. They called me and told me they had run the diagnostics and the starter was fine but I needed a new alternator. I pushed back, telling them it didn't seem like an alternator problem, but they seemed very confident and "explained" why it was. Again, I'm not a car guy and they'd always been great before so we went ahead with it. I went to pick up the van the next day, with a new alternator, put in the key, and click. Same problem. Took the keys right back in. They called me the next morning, and guess what was wrong???? The starter was bad. I spoke with Travis, the manager, and told him this story. He spent a few minutes giving a mechanical explanation and telling me why they couldn't diagnose a starter problem until they changed the alternator. It didn't make logical sense, but I'm not a mechanic and felt pretty powerless to do anything else. He gave me $40 off, after $850 of repairs I didn't need. Bummer, but time to move on to a new mechanic. read more

I've been taking my cars to Brakes Plus for years, and after this past experience I probably will never go to one again. I used to have a 2001 Honda CRV, the check engine light came on and I took it to Brakes Plus to see what the problem was. While they were very nice to me, they couldn't figure out the problem when they should have been able to. I had to take the car to Kuni Honda's repair shop to have someone tell me what the problem was. The guys there were amazed that Brakes Plus couldn't figure out the problem. Ends up my valve head was bown, so the car was pretty much junk. Which was upsetting to me even more because I had just spent over $2000 on maintenance work at....guess where.....Brakes Plus. The guys at Kuni said that someone should have seen this problem coming and been able to tell me about it. So my advice is to just go to a dealer for maintenance, it may cost a little more but hopefully it won't result in you having to buy a new car. read more

Despite their higher prices, I keep going to Brakes Plus for convenience. My affordable mechanic lives WAY out in Lakewood and runs an 8-5 shop Monday through Friday. Unfortunately, that's when I work! I'll take my car to him for major jobs (timing belt, radiator, whatever...) but will usually go to Brakes Plus for oil changes or for urgent jobs (car smoking, fluids leaking, AC suddenly broke and it's 105 outside...) They're reliable and I've enjoyed working with Joe. So far, Brakes Plus has completed replaced/repaired my AC, replaced multiple belts, replaced my coolant bypass hose, done my brakes, and done multiple oil changes. And, in the three years that I've gone, I've spent a pretty penny with them. However, I've always gotten my car back the same day, gotten rides when I'm stranded, and haven't been hassled about doing unnecessary "stuff". Until the day comes when the price outweighs the convenience, I'll continue to go to Brakes Plus for minor fixes or can't-wait emergencies. read more

I have been going to this location for about 3 years now. I am always leery of going to auto shops because I'm a woman and have limited knowledge about cars. These guys are legit. Their prices are consistent with past work. They are professional and extremely helpful. Jamie and Graham have been honest about work that can wait and work that can possibly be safety issues. Other guys at this shop whose names escape me have also provided excellent service.. I almost wrote these guys off during my last visit because they wanted to charge $250 to change out my spark plugs. I thought that was insane until I researched the work on Ford Edge forums, watched videos and understood how tricky it is to get to my spark plugs. They were not exaggerating about the amount of time it takes. I would recommend these guys to anyone who is looking for an honest and fair auto shop. read more

I hate getting jerked around at auto service garages, so I feel fortunate that this Brakes Plus makes regular maintenance and minor work a breeze. Sure, they'll let me know if a manufacturer recommended service is on the schedule, but there's no pressure to do it and they document everything on your paperwork. There's no attempt to get you to buy something unnecessary or pressure you into something you can easily do on your own. There has been a number of times where I've brought my car in with an issue expecting to get a list of things they wanted to do related and unrelated, but nope, just what needs to be done. Plus they frequently have coupons for oil changes that include tire rotation for less than many other places just for the oil change (which, BTW, they use Valvoline). Bottom line: just like the other location nearby, these guys are helpful and friendly, and I trust them to do a good job while being good people. read more

I've had the brakes replaced on two of my cars here, and they always do a fantastic job. For my current car, when I took it in to have some grinding that had been going on for less than 48 hours looked at by the company that put on my tires they said my whole brake system needed replaced! I knew that was not true and that it was likely that the rotors could be machined and I could save some money, so I took it to Brakes Plus. They confirmed that could machine the rotors, saving me over $400!! They are a great company and they do not try to dupe women into paying for more than they need, unlike the first place I took my car to. We have been super pleased with Brakes Plus on Yosemite. The guys in the shop and working the counter are smart, helpful, and not pushy. They are respectful to both men and women (THANK YOU!) and prices have always been reasonable. I've even heard them remind customers to pull up a coupon before finalizing their bill. The work they do has been very good and the customer service has been terrific. We have a Lexus with over 100,000 miles on it that needs regular maintenance to keep it running well. In one situation, Brakes Plus got rid of a loud noise related to the timing belt. It helped for a while, but then the sound came back. We took the car back in and they fixed it (for good this time) at no charge. This company has a name problem-- they do a lot more than just brakes. The "Plus" is for real. We've had them work on brakes, belts, rotate tires, oil change, tune up, and more. We always make a point to call here first when something comes up and are grateful to have someplace reliable with great mechanics in the area. A great shop I'd highly recommend. read more
