Refilling my tires should be $2 and 5 min at a gas station. Now I'm afraid I might need special parts or new tires, and I need to get home and refill my daughter's oxygen tanks. Big O's below response is as shady as the rebuilt alternator the sold me as new because facts are straightforward. We brought in a vehicle with a charging problem. They sold us an expensive battery and then a remanufactured alternator. Nearly $2,000 later, the car was in the exact same condition. Neither the battery nor the alternator was the cause of the problem. The dealership later fixed the issue quickly under a manufacturer recall. No alternator replacement was required to resolve the actual problem. Instead of acknowledging a misdiagnosis, Big O refused to apologize and offered a convoluted partial refund that would have required additional time, coordination, and effort on our part after we had already lost two months and nearly $2,000. Their public response suggests equivalence between unrelated issues. There wasn't any. They charged us for parts that did not fix the problem. That is the bottom line. read more

Don't trust these guys. I asked them to look for a loud clunking noise in my front end. They wanted to replace struts and more - $2k. I had just replaced front end components 12 months earlier (struts/swing arm/etc). So I took it to another mech who replaced the engine mount and solved the problem. When I went back to Big O (different service writer), they wanted to replace front end components (again!) I already had this discussion the first time and said No (again). Then I explained that engine mount solved it - and he claimed that eng. mount was part of the previous inspection/quote - which it absolutely WASN'T - and said he had just deleted that from the report right before showing it to me. Wait -WHAT ?!? False ... not true ... wasn't in the report ever ... Why did he try to lie to me? didn't harm or help him either way but he wanted to make me think they knew about that possibility. I didn't argue. Bought my tires there and get free rotation, but I'm not doing any other business with Big O @Remington Pl. Might even go to a different location. DON'T TRUST THESE GUYS ! read more

I have a 2010 Outback. Did all 4 of my strut assemblies with help of an autobody friend and took it in for an alignment after. This shop claimed my inner and outer tie rods were too loose and refused to give me an alignment without replacement. We were pretty certain they were fine after checking other parts of my suspension earlier and denied them the upsale. Brought the car home, jacked it up and didn't find them to be loose. I ended up taking my car to Brakes Plus instead and they did the alignment no problem! read more

I took my vehicle in for overheating when driving up hills and mountains. I was by their staff I needed a new radiator and thermostat which would be about $1500 and that would solve the problem, so I told them to go ahead and do the work. My first time driving out to the mountains I made it about 30 miles and the car started overheating. I took it back where the repairs were made, they said everything looked good and there was nothing else they could do. So they took my $1500 and never fixed the issue at all. I had new tires put on my car less than 2 months ago. One of them went flat a couple of days ago. Big-O said that because I drove on it (apparently I should have stopped on the main road), that they would do nothing for me and that I needed to buy a new tire. They could not tell me why it went flat in the first place. To add to this, they were charging almost double ($303 plus install) for the same tire I found at both Tirerack.com AND Discount Tire for $158. Big-O didn't even offer to sell me a pro-rated tire or work with the tire mfg to try and get it replaced. He just looked at me and said I needed a new tire. I had stopped going to Big-O years ago because it seemed like anytime I went there, they were always finding $800+ worth of work to do. I was told they could switch out my tires which I had provided within 3 hours, given I dropped the car off at 3, they had 3 hours to do a 30-40 min job which I thought was completely reasonable. I had spoken with Steve the whole time who told me my car could be done same day before close. Without a call letting me know it'd take longer, I called them to see what the story was as I hadn't gotten a call saying my car was done the next day around 2pm. Steve had answered the phone again and let me know my car is at the bottom of the list, not a priority, and they'll get around to it when they can. He made it clear that they still wouldn't have the quick job done 2 days later. He was then very disrespectful when I had questioned what had been taking so long and why they couldn't just knock out the job, saying since it's not a tire I purchased from them, it doesn't get priority. Now I understand tired purchased from them makes for better business but I still believe every customer should be treated the same, regardless of their situation. I ended up pulling my car back out of their shop as they had 2 days to do it and hadn't touched the car. I took it to Les Schwab which was able to complete it in under an hour which is how it should have been to begin with. Where to begin?.... Let's start with the fact that I dropped my truck off for an oil change and gave the manager a coupon that came from Big O Tires own website for a complete oil change for $24.99. I came back a few hours later and when I went to check out I was told that I owed $65. What! obviously they just forgot that I had a coupon, so I reminded the manager and he replied "oh yes, that is with your coupon, your truck needed an additional quart of oil and a more expensive oil filter. Plus we have to charge the oil disposal fee on top of that." I have a few problems with that remark. 1st, I drive an F-150 (the most popular truck in America) obviously they would have known about the oil filter and the additional quart when I dropped it off. Why didn't they explain it to me before I agreed to the service? 2nd, They could have called as soon as they realized they were not able to honor their own coupon. 3rd, WTF!!! In what world does a business have the right to charge close to triple the amount the customer was quoted without consent!!! If you still feel like reading more, here is where this gets really interesting! When I asked the manager how much the additional quart costs, he said $6 and the disposal fee is $3. Ok, even if I paid for that (despite the fact it was not told to me in our agreement) that adds up to only $9 dollars on top of the $25 coupon. How was I being charged $65 when the most I could understand is $34??? Then the manager very rudely offered to take $5 off the $65. Oh gee, thanks bud. I told him I would agree to pay $34 and not a dime more and after being very rude and condescending the manager finally agreed to "get me out of the store" since obviously other customers where starting to recognize this is not a place they wanted to do business with either. On last interesting piece of this puzzle....I immediately wrote this same review on their own website (where they only have 4 and 5 star reviews). Needless to say my review never got posted (hmmm). I am going to try to post this review again with a 5 star attached to it and see if I can sneak it in. I think people have the right to know when a business is dishonest and attempts to take advantage of the customer. I made an appointment today for an oil change and tire rotation. They looked at me like I was crazy when I brought up the promotion and then tried to tell me it "expired" in November. I bought it November 30th so I guess this was good for 1 day? Took almost 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation with an appointment. No updates throughout the 2 hour wait. I brought my car in for tire rotation and balance. The store was busy and I waited. They worked me in within a pretty reasonable time. The waiting room and bathrooms were clean and pleasant. Big O techs did only and exactly as I asked, and never mentioned new tires or tried to sell me additional services. I had visited another tire store a few months earlier for air check in one tire -- they were trying to sell me tires before checking the tire pressure. Anyway, I was pleased with the service at Big O and thought folks were friendly. Buyer Beware! I went in for an oil change for my 2019 Chevy Tahoe at Big O tires at 9875 W Remington place and was told I had a leaking left front strut. Recommendation was to replace both for approx 900 dollars. For safety reasons I decided to do so. I brought my car in this morning and dropped it off. While at breakfast I was called and told we have a "snafu". You have different struts than we thought and it will now be 2,400 dollars for both! I said no thank you. Got called back and said we can do one for 1,300 because my car only had 43,000 miles so it's ok to replace one. That sounded strange to me after the recommendation was to replace both. I said let me think and called Stevinson Chevrolet where I spoke with their service advisor. He said bring it in and let me have a look because it sounds strange. Long story short he said my struts were in perfect shape and no replacement necessary. I just spent 1,300 on tires at Big O, not sure if i got a good deal and learned the synthetic oil change at the dealership is cheaper as well. Unfortunately I do not have the level of trust in Big O to continue doing business with them and will drive the extra mileage for an honest open exchange It was painful to me to be told everything looks great and the picture they have looks like a finger smudge mark on the strut because no fluid is leaking. These guys are untrue to their word and make excuses. With every service you are guaranteed a fluid check. I went in for a winter inspection and oil change, it was clear they didn't look at fluids because my windshield wiper fluid was out. So I took it back to have the brakes checked 3 weeks later and said please make sure to check my fluids. I ask when I retrieved my vehicle if that the fluids looked good and was told yes. 2 weeks later I broke down in Moab because my power of steering pump blew due to mucky POS fluid. The mechanic said "power of steering fluid doesn't turn the bad overnight". I called big o and was actually told over the phone that they DONT CHECK FLUIDS, which is untrue on many accounts. Then my father spoke with Tim who refused to even talk about it in a professional manner. These guys are just looking to take the easy road out. Do not trust them with your vehicles read more

UPDATE: I'm updating this review to clarify the statements made by Lana. First look at the rest of the reviews where people have had similar issues. This business must pay Yelp to push the bad reviews down. Let me clarify that I was NEVER told the price of the tires would be higher than what was advertised. The sales rep must've been as dishonest with Lana as he was with me. Next, there should never have been an issue in the first place, let alone four or five. 1. Improve your communication with customers. 2. Honor your advertised prices and be transparent about any changes (despite what she says, I was not told the price, nor that it would increase.) 3. Do your own pricing research and make your prices competitive. Don't try to put this back on your customers. Numerous people have posted about overpriced brakes. 4. Encourage honest business practices. Don't try to blame your customers for their dissatisfaction with subpar service. With respect to the details: The first tires that I requested (Toyo) were indeed out of stock everywhere. They recommended tires that were not 3PMSF rated despite my request. Why wouldn't the supposed tire experts sell me 3PMSF tires? She didn't address this. I called back three hours later after realizing the recommended tires were not 3PMSF and requested a different set of tires that I specifically pointed out they were selling on the website, so I was obviously aware of the pricing. I was *never* told that they would be marked up. They only quoted a total price for the job. Agreeing over the phone without a detailed price breakdown, specifically when there has been a markup, is different than agreeing to a detailed and transparent estimate that should have been provided when the vehicle was dropped off. She also didn't address why no invoice was provided prior to payment. In all my years of working with different vehicle repair and maintenance shops, I have always been given an itemized price over the phone. I have almost always been given a detailed written estimate prior to starting work, and with the lone exception being this Big O tires, I have ALWAYS been given an invoice before being asked to pay. As for the brakes, my normal mechanic was flabbergasted. I looked at them myself and there was no issue whatsoever. I'm not going to price shop brakes and bring a written estimate to a dishonest shop. It is almost funny that they even suggested it. Everyone knows that $665 for one axle on a Ford is ridiculous. Lana doesn't have an explanation for this because there isn't one. Plain and simple - it was a dishonest attempt to upsell unknowing customers. You don't have to believe me. Look at all the other bad reviews with similar issues. There are plenty of shops within a few blocks who are doing better than 3 stars on Yelp. Previous review: I called to make an appointment and asked for all weather tires that were 3PMSF rated. They recommended some over the phone and we setup the appointment. Then I did some research online and quickly learned the recommended tires were not 3PMSF. I called and switched the tires to a different tire on their website that was rated. You'd think they would have gotten that right. No big deal though, right? Well I took the car in and they called to tell me the rear brakes needed to get done - $665. This is for a Ford. Not a BMW or Mercedes. They said the rotors were "scorched" and the pads were at end of life. They said it'd be dangerous to drive the car out of the parking lot. I have never paid more than $450 for brakes and rotors in my life and that includes living in California for almost 20 years where everything is 30% more expensive. I declined the brake work due to the unreasonable pricing. The dramatic warning made me think something was suspicious. Went in to pay for the tires and they asked me to pay prior to showing me an invoice. I asked for the invoice and they had marked the tires up by $15 each above the advertised price on their website. They made some nonsense excuses about what "we agreed to over the phone". They eventually honored the price online. Finally, I take the car out and bring it to my normal mechanic to look at the brakes. The brakes were COMPLETELY fine. 70% life remaining on the front and 50% on the rear. My daughter took her car to get a low tire checked out. This place tried to scam her into believing that it would cost about $140 to get the tire pressure light turned off on her dashboard. Utterly ridiculous. When we called them on it, they tried to pass it off as just a misunderstanding and it must be faulty equipment on the car. More hogwash. I dropped in on 6/10/2017 for an oil change as the shop was relatively empty. I discussed with the manager that I have 4 cars and live within walking distance and was looking for a quality shop to take my cars for all services. I left the car and came back an hour later and it was still in the parking lot, so I stayed, waited and watched. They pulled the car in, raised it and drained the oil. Never did they take engine cover off to reveal the filter. When I got home, the feeling bugged me so I removed the engine cover only to discover the oil filter was covered with 5000 miles worth of undisturbed road grime, dust, ect. The filter was not changed. Proceeded back to the shop and the manager assured me that it was even after I showed him the filter, only to be told "We have a tool that leaves no marks".
