Fraud alert - seniors stay away! Put new tires on my Tundra at Costco, drove six miles up Wadsworth in Denver area for an alignment to Brakes Plus. They refused the alignment , saying the control arm bushings were shot and squeezing out from around the shafts. They estimated $1100+ to replace the control arms. I took the truck to my favorite repair shop, where I've had work done for years. It's in a smaller town just outside the metro area. They could find zero sign of any problem & aligned the truck. I'm approaching 70, and in the last few years, I've become a target for bogus big-ticket auto repairs. I must be looking old & feeble minded. It's disappointing to me that Brakes Plus also targets elders. I've been taking my vehicles to this shop for over 22 years.... The last couple times I took it in items were stolen. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop manager had the audacity to bawl me out the last time saying they had cameras and never happened.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Except the last time when my binoculars were stolen out of the back seat floor board, they had a second person sit in the back seat for a drivability test and moved my stuff so they became visible. Then you get done alignment at Brakes plus, you have to go back at least 2-3 times. It happened with me so many times in past, a while ago, u thought maybe they charged, but no. When I left them, was the same problem, steering wheel was to the right like I came. Came back and they told me they fixed it, but right know my steering wheel is to the left. I took my car in due and awful noice it was making and because im a 17 year old who doesn't know how to handle a car and doesn't pay at to the noises or bring the sounds to my parents attention the problems were massive. All four of my shocks were completely ruined and one had even popped out completely. so.. I had bought a '97 Ford F-150 knowing it needed work. I did all the other work myself but had Brakes Plus do the front and rear brakes... $1300 later my stuff is still squealing, braking weird with hard vibration, and I found a screwdriver stuck in the back left after someone stopped me on the road to let me know... the guys that helped me out at Brakes Plus were super nice and very informative but I think the mechanics that actually worked on my truck sucked. I took 2 trips, and the second trip was for the rear brakes and they had my truck from 8am til past closing, and had to take it back to the bay several times after the test run because it was leaking brake fluid and apparently to stick a screwdriver in and leave it... pretty disappointed in the work. read more

I got oil housing service done at girad location. It went well, but other problems occurred due to loose wiring or forgotten connection. They were unable to diagnose the engine light error, so I took it to the brakes plus 3min away on smokey hill by Chick-fil-A. A lady by the name Joslyn error code check me, connected loose wires and ensured my piece of mind. Car runs fine, and light is not popping back up. I would avoid the Girard location for major issues, and ask for Joslyn at other location. read more

Coloradans please be careful. I went to Brakes Plus January 17, 2025. I paid for a rear brake job. New rotors, wheel alignment, brake pads and clean and restoration. Guess What!! I left after the service they completed and about less than a mile away my car starts shaking uncontrollably when I try to make a left turn. I end up taking my vehicle to Lexus to see what is going on with my car if course I had to pay again. They made a video of the inspection service. They did not change my rotors, the Technician did not put on my brake pads on right because they were not flushing to the rotor when braking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The manager John said it was not a big deal that the brakes did not hit the rotor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So I called Corporate office. You have to speak with Rich who is the Regional Manager he said they would not give me back my money unless I got my brakes done against n then brought him back his parts. WHAT!! Where has integrity gone for Brakes Plus? They do not guarantee quality service nor Integrity Customer Service. Please be careful Colorado of you choose Brakes Plus. They lied to me about some parts I needed that I did not need. Then they will do there best not to give you back your money you paid for for there service if you do not give them back there parts. I've had it. Brakes Plus is great at giving excuses. I don't want excuses. I want work done right. Brakes Plus changed the oil in my friend's car and overfilled it. I noticed the problem when I checked the oil level in her car -- 5000 miles after the last Brakes Plus oil change -- expecting it to be low, if anything, not overfilled. I immediately took the car back to Brakes Plus and spent nearly an hour in their parking lot listening to Rick (the owner/manager) give a thousand reasons why their mistake was not really a problem. He offered the next oil change (which was due) for half price. That oil change was also overfilled. If Rick's excuses were true, overfilling it (yet again) would be impossible. That was on Friday. Rick and I agreed that I would check the oil level after the car had sat overnight, just in case oil in the dipstick tube made it look overfilled. Rick told me that, if it really was overfilled, I could bring the car in and they could remove some oil, no problem...it would take only a minute. Well, it really was overfilled. The guy I talked to on Monday told me to bring it in, but the car's owner had to go to work. On Wednesday the car's owner called in late to work so Brakes Plus could remove some of the oil. I called Brakes Plus to let them know I would bring the car in but was put on hold and then told to not come in and instead talk to Rick on Thursday, the next day. Nobody has time for this level of inconvenience over an oil change. An OIL CHANGE. Nobody has income they can afford to lose because Brakes Plus is jerking them around instead of doing the work correctly to begin with and standing behind their work when they mess up. I'm not playing this game with another incompetent, untrustworthy Aurora mechanic. And don't get me started with my truck's brakes -- which Brakes Plus replaced -- that squeal like a stuck pig whenever I'm backing up.... read more

Didn't finish the job, Illegitimate fee, promised to call back but didn't. When I picked up my car, I noticed they didn't power spray the engine to check for oil leaks as I requested. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I asked why not, the mechanic gave me a BS answer that didn't logically make sense.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I let that go. Then, at the time I paid, I didn't notice a $29 "fluids/supplies" charge. I called later and found out it was for "shop supplies." This should already be reflected in their prices and labor rates, not charged (again) by the job. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I asked for a refund, the mechanic who worked on my car said they can't refund it, but he would talk to the manager and call me back the next day. He didn't call back in two days so I called back and the desk clerk told me the mechanic said he's still working on it and will call back later that day. It's been over a week now and still no call back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It seems to me he had no intention of calling me back and said he would as a way to pay lip service. This insincere treatment combined with not completing a job and a BS shop supplies fee made me decide never to return there again. read more

I was the only car in the lot when I came in for an alignment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As I am sitting down and waiting, a blue dodge truck parked a few spaces away from me. The owner walked in and said he needed an alignment. Some crazy way his vehicle was serviced and done before mine even went in the garage (at 11:05, an hour after my appointment). [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked the owner if he had an appointment and he said no, he just did a drive 19 hours from Tennessee.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I was checking out I asked the clerk (joe) why somebody who came in after me without an appointment was serviced before me. He tried to lie to me and tell me the man had an appointment and had been waiting here before I came in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It obviously was not the truth as I am aware of my surroundings and watched that truck pull in after me and had a conversation with the owner who said he did not have an appointment. I have went to this location a lot within the past few months. First, I went to do a brake check and it went great, they got me in and out without an appointment and explained everything to me. I came back a few more times to do some maintenance (lights, oil, things like that) and it was all good. A few weeks after I had my brakes checked at this location, I was at the other Brakes Plus on Smoky Hill because I had a doctor's appointment in the area and had them replace my rear brake pads. They said the front brakes were O.K, but I was told I needed new shocks/struts which was going to be an expensive job. I said O.K and waited a few more weeks before I returned to this location to do them. The actual cost was about $100 more than the other Brakes Plus had quoted for me, but I thought, hey, no big deal. (They were running a promotion at the other place when I got the estimate and I figured it was probably over). So I had them do my shocks and struts and it was all good. When I left, I didn't even notice a difference in how my car drove. I thought oh well, maybe that's just how it is. So I continued to drive and after a few miles I started hearing a painful rattling coming from the back of my car. I had my dad take a look and he said that my rear shocks didn't look new and he thought I was taken advantage of because I don't know a lot about cars. I took my car back and they fixed the rattling for free but I was kind of bummed that I had to come back. If it wasn't for my shocks and struts experience I would rate 5 stars because they are very nice and have good prices for things like headlights and maintenance. But I would say just come here for those things, don't come for shocks and struts unless you know what you are doing. Anyways, that's all, bye! read more

A month before my friend and I took his car to the shop (Iliff & Buckley), he had a brake change. They started squeaking last week and he has a lifetime warranty so we took the car in on Thursday, August 12th. The technicians said the brakes were overheating so they had to resharpen the rotors. He told them explicitly that he drives a lot in the mountains for work, and they assured him that everything was now fixed and he should be fine to drive. He left, only drove home and parked, and went directly to work in Boulder the next morning. On the way back, going 70 on Highway 36, the brakes completely gave out and started sparking. He managed to make it to the nearest shop, where they told him that the wheel bearing and axel broke off. They blamed him, saying the previous shop couldn't have sharpened the rotor if there was any problem with the rotor or axel; funny, since the previous shop assured him that everything was in perfect shape after they worked on the brakes. Shop #2 (Westminster) charged him $800 for this repair. This is RIDICULOUS. At a minimum he should not be charged for the second repair since he was assured everything was fine, and he's looking into legal action since things easily could have gone south when his brakes gave out on the highway. Neither of us or any of our friends will ever be using this company again. Dishonest and incompetent. read more

Just had my oil changed here. Took a long time despite having an appointment. Did not top off my fluids or reinflate my tires. My tire light was on and I asked for them to reinflate them while they were doing the oil change, didn't happen. Don't recommend this location at all. read more

Absolutely never take your vehicle to brakes plus for anything and I say this because I took it in for an alignment and they called me and told me I need new struts in the front and a lower control arm on the right front. Now 3 years ago my struts were replaced and I know they are still good. The lower control arm I took off myself and compared to the new one I bought no difference. They wanted to charge me 1116 dollars for all of this. All of the parts from orielys and napa were 427 dollars. So I went to a different place to get my alignment done 79 dollars out thr door and they didnt have to replace anything. Do not take your car to this place they will f%$@ you like a Singapore wh*$@. read more

I had the most uncomfortable and disrespectful experience at this shop. I was repeatedly harassed by the store manager and would never recommend this location for a woman. I walked in and I told them that I suspected I had issues with my brakes and one of my tires. Chris the store manager brought me into the back to show me what the issues were and what he thought was wrong. He had mentioned that I needed new brakes and that the hub piece on my passenger side was broken. He showed me the hub piece but never showed me my brake pads or anything related to them. He said that the brakes would cost around $400 and the hub would cost $600. When all was said and done, or what I thought was, he brought me over to the computer to calculate and give me an estimate on how much everything would be with taxes and labor costs and once he was done he said it would cost around $2k for everything. When I looked at the screen, I saw that he had added premium packages and extra work that "needed" to be done that we never discussed. I decided to think about everything and told him I would come back once I had the money or got a different estimate. When I asked for the estimate printed, he said he would text it to me and I thought that was a bit unprofessional and inappropriate and just asked for it to be emailed to me and he said okay. I waited around 20 minutes to get the email and get my keys back so I could take my car and when I looked in the back I realized that my car was still taken apart and no one was near it. I had gone back up to the front counter and asked another employee to check on the process of everything he said he would go back and talk to Chris. Chris came out of the office and I told him that I'm just waiting for that email and for my car, that's when he proceeded to tell me that he wasn't going to give me my keys back because it was a liability issue now. I asked how and he said if the wheel were to fall off or anything happened they would be reliable for it. I started thinking how was my car fine before and now is in a worse condition AFTER I had brought it to them to just do a diagnostic. Chris then told me that they need to keep the car now and he would give me a ride home, AGAIN another inappropriate and unprofessional response that I was not happy about. I told him no and that I wanted to leave with my vehicle at that moment and he said okay. I waited for them to put the car back together and saw them put it in the parking lot but Chris never came back with my keys so I went BACK up to the counter to ask for the keys a second time and the employee went to the office again and told chris to give me my keys. Chris came out of the office with my keys in his hand and asked "Are you sure you want to take the car? I can just give you a ride home" I started to get very annoyed and uncomfortable as this is the third time he's been acting like this towards me. I took my keys and went to the car and waited for my family member to follow me home. As I was waiting in the car, I noticed a random number call my phone and when I answered it was Chris, the store manager but he wasn't calling from the Brakes Plus number. He asked if I was okay and where my family member was and I got fed up with him harassing me so I said "I'm fine thank you" and hung up the phone and was able to leave the location finally. This was the most gross interaction and confusing experience I've ever had with a supposedly "professional" business and I will NEVER recommend this location or go back to it. I read previous reviews and some people had similar experiences with the employees and/or manager there with price changes to services they didn't discuss and the lack of communication and respect. I also noticed that the "response" to these reviews seems to be an automated response and nothing that actually addresses the issue. My wife went to Brakes Plus in Aurora. Colorado, on E. Iliff Ave. to have them look at her brakes, because they were making noises while driving. She was told she had to have new front brakes, rotors, and calipers. The price was almost 300 Dollars. When she told them she wanted to check other places, they were not happy, and told her she could not find a cheaper price elsewhere. She went to different a place the next day, and they put on new brakes, and told her she did not need new rotors, or calipers. It cost her about a third as much as Brakes Plus. In the past, I have gone there, and they tried to repair my Blazer, with more than I needed, to fix it. Other people, have had similar complaints about this place. This is not fair to the customer, who, if isn't educated, can be taken advantage of. read more

Medved Cadillac quoted me $1,600 to replace my brake pads and for some reason calipers, so I told them to hold off so I can get some other quotes. I went to Brakes Plus the very next day and they told me the sound from my brakes was likely just because they're dirty because I still have 75% life on my Brembo brakes. They said "As much as I would like to sell you a new set of Brembo brakes, you just don't need them." The staff there was honest and I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I had an appointment at 9am for a brake inspection. There were only two other people getting work done on their cars. I just got home. It's noon. The only things that kept me there were the fact that my car was on a lift and I kept thinking "surely it will only be five more minutes." That's a ridiculous amount of time for something that really should have taken an hour, tops. To be fair, the inspection itself only took about two hours. The rest of the time... I'm not totally sure what was going on but I know my car didn't have the wheels on so I couldn't just drive off. Maybe everyone went to an hour lunch at 11? Absurd. I'll just hunt for an independent shop in the area. I only went here because I don't know any in the area. read more

The only star they get is for being friendly. I've had the same car for 16 years, had the brakes done a few times. The first couple times they lasted about 5 years (not done at brakes plus). Got them done at brakes plus on tower about 5 years ago. Totally worn out after 2 years and they never felt right, always noisy (despite having them "adjusted" which cost me time out of my life) Got them re-done at this shop less than 2 years ago. My daughter just took the car in and they quoted her $900 for all new brakes and parts. The parts THEY INSTALLED lasted less than 2 years? This place is a racket. Their parts are garbage and their lifetime warranty is bs. Long story short, the brakes are getting done for a quarter of the price elsewhere (and will probably last more than 2 years). read more

I received a coupon through the mail for a discount on my oil change. I arrived to find a less than friendly greeter that I offered little help when I asked for a brake check, oil change, head light bulb change, and securing my fog light that had come loose. He said, "I'll see what we can do". Really? Then I asked when my car would go in and he rudely said "as soon as you stop talking and let me do my job". I almost left but needed my oil changed and light changed out. He returned and thankful only did you the oil change as they wanted to charge $70 to replace a light bulb saying it was a $50 or close bulb and $30 labor. I laughed and said no thanks. They did sucker me into a brake adjustment when they found my breaks were not worn down. They charged $20 for that and $30 for the oil change. They also said they had not tape or materials to secure my fog light even though every shop usually has duct tape and all I asked was that they tape it back in place as the normal bracket to secure it was broken. Due to their rudeness and over charging (I'm not even sure they adjusted my brakes as I noticed no difference). Choose another Brakes Plus location if you choose to patronize the company at all. Lastly, I went across the street to Advanced Auto and replaced my bulb for $15 and it took less than 5 minutes to replace. No way I'd let anyone charge $70 to replace a headlight bulb. read more
