My wife brought her Jeep in because the brakes were grinding and didn't work after it sat for a few hours. Once you pumped the brakes a few times then it worked. It was a weird problem. They kept it for 2 days trying to figure out the problem and finally called and said it had a stuck caliper. Put new pads, rotors and calipers on it and charged her $851! They even charged $50 for a quart of brake fluid you can buy for $4.99. Picked it up and the next morning, same thing.........grinding and no brakes. Brought it back in and they said it probably needed new speed sensors. They wanted $500 to put 4 new ones in! They cost $22 each at Autozone and take 10 minutes to put in. Plus all 4 sensors don't just go bad. I asked them which sensor could be bad and they said they couldn't test that. You can buy a code reader at Autozone for $60 that will read ABS codes. Your telling me a brake shop doesn't own a code reader?? So they said they didn't know what could be the problem, so took it to Parker 4x4 and they diagnosed the problem as a bad brake vacuum pump. Replaced that and the problem was fixed. I don't for a minute believe the Jeep ever had a stuck caliper. They were just selling parts and basically stole $851 from us. If they tell you that, ask to see your old caliper! Also, all the parts they put on had Carquest auto part numbers and the prices they charged for those were about 100% markup. I had my mechanic friends look at my brakes, they are incredible mechanics, I know that all I need are front pads, barely. I had a 4pm appt that I left work early for. 5pm they call me back to show me that my front pads were "85%" worn and my rear pads were "90%" worn. I asked if they used a micrometer, if they could show me and he starts talking about measuring the rotor and fumbling around the rear pad issue. I'm guessing that's b/c my rear pads are perfectly fine. I tell him i only need front pads and he leads me out shouting at everyone, "front pads only, hey, it'll be fronts only for this guy", I can only imagine why so many ppl need to know that but whatevs. This is the original garage scam and they say it'll be 6pm before I get my car back. 2 hours and $232 for my $129 brake job w/ appt, FRONT PADS ONLY. ***live update*** 6:10pm, still waiting, I realized that I sent the car back for the "premium" ($79) pads but they put the "ultra premium" ($129) pads on the quote I signed. John comes in to tell me the guy is almost done, I ask if the pads are on and he says no. I ask to have the $79 pads instead he says he'll make sure it isn't too late, 10 seconds later he comes back to say they are out of the $79 pad. read more

Don't ever go here. They "fit me in" on a busy Saturday which means they rushed my oil change. My car wreaks of burning engine oil they spilt all over the engine and they put grease all over my driver's side door. When I took the car back in they just rinsed my engine with water and just barelt wiped off the grease on the car door. The engine still smells each time we park my car in the garage. I just found out that they also stripped all my tire bolts while doing a tire rotation so it's taking forever to take out the bolts for doing a tire replacement. I'm an idiot to think a shop like this would do a quality job. One other thing: they tried charging me $80 to replace my cabin filter when everyone knows it takes 5 min to replace it on my own and I paid $25 for the new filter. When I went back for them to clean my engine, I saw them convincing this old man that he needed his cabin air filter replaced as well. What crooks! read more

So far so good. Needed a brake job pretty bad. Metal on metal for my rear brakes. My normal guy doesn't work on Saturdays and as a business owner my schedule is too tight to wait for him. Enter Brakes Plus - only been open for a few months but I get the vibe these guys are on the ball. Place is clean and bays are buzzing with work. On my way home and see a lot of traffic here throughout the week. Got my car on the rack and had all four wheels off and walked me around the vehicle showing me how much work I needed. Found a few broken CV seals too which sucks. Better on the rack than on the highway right? Pads, rotors, hardware, CV axles, oil change, etc. All in all a lot of money being spent but they comped me a brake fluid change because I ordered the "steak" dinner. I drive about 25,000 miles each year for work so I am OK with heafty preventative maintenance bills. Picking my car up in a few hours. I'll post an update a few weeks after work completed but I am reasonably optimistic everything will be smooth. read more

I will no longer go to Brakes Plus. I have a small oil leak and they wound up selling me on a new oil pump. They jacked the work up so bad, my car was stuck in their shop for two days. Based on the positioning of the oil stains in my garage, I know conclude it was from a gasket by the oil pan. My girlfriend took her daughters RAV4 there, and they talked them into replacing fairly new rotors. Anymore, it's always an upsell at this place... read more

From my experience, Brakes plus always has friendly staff and this location was no exception! I came in to get my rear brakes done a few weeks ago. After the initial brake check, Forrest sat down with me and walked me through everything that he recommended I get for my brakes. It was helpful, since I don't know much about cars. The bill was around $300, which was actually less than I expected since I needed a lot done. They got me in and out quickly and even gave me a free written estimate for shocks and struts. My brakes have been squeaking for over 2 years now. I've taken my Altima to the dealership and to other services like Meineke and no one was able to fix the problem. They've all claimed to fix it but a couple days later the squeaking would return. I asked Rudy to take a look at it during my oil change and he did what many have failed to do. Hello everyone, I don't generally post any reviews, but after my & my wife's experience with Brakes Plus at Southlands, I wanted to shred some lights. people be aware of their "UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES" we called up and booked appointment for changing oil, brake check etc. then we dropped our the vehicle to this facility where they didn't do anything to the vehicle for 2 hours then he (JOHN) called up and told that they need to test the brakes and it costs XX$ for labor but he (John) repeatedly told "once i opened the brake components i can't put it back together if you are not repairing with us and you will have to tow your car". We were totally shocked hearing these kinds of response from a mechanic. then we realized he wants more money, he can't just do simple oil change. *** he also messed up the "ENGINE OIL DRAIN PLUG". This is so frustrating how in AMERICA, there is a business damaging customer property for MONEY. ITS EVIL PRACTICE. I immediately called up and told him "STOP DOING ANYTHING ON MY VEHICLE" I have then taken my Car to the WALMART in the same shopping mall. they changed oil and replaced the Drain Plug for Free and told us someone purposefully messed up the drain plug. So PLEASE BEWARE. THESE GUYS ARE CHEATERS. NO EITHICS/MORAL. My husband and I took our vehicles to Brakes Plus for an oil change when they opened on our end of town. We haven't taken our cars anywhere else since then. No matter what is wrong with our vehicles we take it to this Brakes Plus. Rudy and John are the nicest guys (as is everyone else that works there). They are honest about what is going on with our vehicles and even let us know what we need to get done ASAP and what can wait. Showed up this afternoon hoping for an inspection and a brake light bulb replacement. The young man was quite nice when telling me he could not get me in for the inspection since they were still too busy and closing was only 2 hours away. He didn't stop there, instead he and his his fellow teammate offered to immediately change my rear bulb before leaving to avoid potentially being stopped. They quickly learned that there were no bulbs for my vehicle in stock, so the manager left, purchased one, and then returned to have his team install the new for absolutely no cost, not even the parts. read more

John Brogan, Service Advisor, took great care of my Suburban with my intended brake service plus they caught a broken part which Firestone completely missed. The office space is great. Two months ago one of our vehicles slid into a curb and the alignment was totally off. They did a free inspection and then told be the bad news that one of the tire rods was also bent. Total cost was less than $400 and it was repaired within the same day of me dropping it off. More recently I took in my Dodge Ram truck and the alignment was off a little bit. Total cost out the door was $52.00. Rudy and the service tech were so very helpful and took the time to answer my questions and concerns. I HATE VEHICLE REPAIRS, but the staff here didn't gouge me on costs and fees, and they were friendly and honest. Scam. Unethical. Rip-off. What should have been a routine and ON-TIME brake pad change turned into a $700 nightmare. DO NOT go to these people. They overcharge for every single part and scare those who are not knowledgeable into purchasing services and parts that are 100% unnecessary. They literally charge at least 4 times the amount of parts that AutoZone sells (I looked up the exact parts), and most of those parts we did NOT need. Never use these guys - do your homework and find someone reputable who won't try to prey on those who aren't as knowledgeable about cars. read more

I took my vehicle in for some minor engine repair (replace throttle sensor and lower manifold gasket) and Brakes Plus repaired these issues($600). When I got the vehicle back, there the engine rattled and smoke billowed from the exhaust pipe. I called and spoke with the manager, Jeff Cain, who offered to take a look at the car.Upon inspection, I was told that the issue was with the intake system, which they did not touch during their repair and that they could replace the PCV valve for $60 and that would fix the problem. I tried to explain that there was no way for them to have replaced the lower exhaust manifold gasket without removing most, if not all, of the intake system, as the intake system sits on top of the exhaust manifold. However, he wouldn't hear it. Begrudgingly, I accepted the $60 charge so I could get my car back and be done with it. When I got the car back, it still rattled and smoked, and now the service engine light was on. Additionally, there were bolts sitting loose on top of the engine and the hose clamps were not replaced but sitting around the middle of the hose. I have called the corporate office twice now (a week apart), gotten an answering machine, and my messages have not been returned. I have since filed a complaint with the BBB, hopefully Brakes Plus will decide to do the right thing. read more

This location is relatively decently priced compared to the competition in the area. They seem quite honest and straight forward so far. They also have good coupons on their website that comes in handy making it even better. They have done great alignments on my cars that come out perfect the first time instead of having to return my car over and over each time. I had a free brake check done today and didn't have my brakes fixed today because they wanted almost $600 to replace brake pads and I needed to discuss it with my husband. On my way home every time I hit a crack or bump in the road it felt like my front end was going to fall apart!! Told my husband and he took the tires off, they hadn't tightened down any of the bolts and they were about to come out!! I drove around with my children in the car after I left this place and they could have caused me to have a serious accident!! Please don't ever go here!!!!!!! Dropped my truck off at my appointment time of 11a for an oil change and front brakes. At 2p (4 hours after my appointment) they called and said that they found some other things that needed to be fixed for a grand total of $700+. I told them to do the oil change and brakes and that's it. Finally picked up my truck at 530p (6.5 hours later!) only to find out that they placed ultra premium pads on (which I did not ask for) and resurfaced the rotors (which I get) and a couple other bells and whistles that I did not agree to. Where they got me was the labor charge. How long does it take to change two damn pads! To top it off they forgot the damn oil change (didn't charge me for it but it was annoying b/c that was the reason I took it in initially). Grand total was $380. So I payed $380 to replace two brake pads! I got screwed (ashamed to admit). So warning to others. There are some good reviews on this place but PLEASE do not buy into it. If you need an oil change/brakes go somewhere else or DIY if you can. Walmart has always been pretty reliable for oil changes. The only thing they have going for them is that they are friendly and personable. I'd rather have honesty. And they did give me a 10% discount...gee thanks read more
