This place was highly recommended by a coworker for transmission service. It's located right next to Auto Zone, used to be " City Garage". My 2020 Honda's service light came on for tire rotation, oil change, filter changes, transmission fluid change. My call for reservation was answered promptly. The staff was friendly & offered a complementary ride home or to work after drop off. When I got there at 8am the next day, Scott, the GM, helped me. He looked up info about my car & said transmission fluid change is too early at current mileage & recommended just an oil change package. He set up the LYFT ride to take me home, which arrived in less than 5 minutes. I did have to call around 11 to check on status. They offered a complimentary pick-up ride there, but hubby was able to take me. No extra findings on things to fix (I was nervous about shops "finding" stuff to repair just to rip you off). I paid $91 for middle oil change package in picture. They were courteous, appeared honest, & definitely worth it with complementary rides!! read more

I cannot recommend this place and the folks who work there highly enough! General Manager Andre worked incredibly hard with me on a fairly trivial issue involving the installation of a new logo on the grille of my car and the effect that had on my cruise control. He had a mechanic clean the sensor involved, then run a complete diagnostic and do multiple test drives to try to determine the issue. Andre himself did a test drive with me to recreate the issue. Eventually the decision was made to put the original logo back on, after which the issue was totally resolved. After the hours spent on the solution to my problem, Andre did not charge me a single cent for the time or labor. How can you beat that level of service? These folks are the best! read more

I was charged $120 for codes from my check engine light being on. I wanted and was told that I would be receiving a detailed and very specific diagnosis! However, all I was given were several different possible reasons why those codes MIGHT be turning the check engine light on! Like seriously the same codes they gave me , Auto Zone gave me for free! They literally have me the same info AutoZone printed out for me. I FELT COMPLETELY WRONGED AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OFF! Im a single mother of 3 and my money doesn't grow on trees!! Its a shame this business rips people off this way. Completely unacceptable!! I will be reporting them to the BBB!! read more

I needed brakes on my car. When I called they wouldn't quote over the phone without inspecting the vehicle. All other places I called gave me a quote over the phone. After the inspection I received my quote which was very reasonable. While the work was being done, Scott called and stated they might not have to do a full brake job. He later called stating after test driving and looking at the rotors unfortunately he was going to do a full brake job. Most places I have dealt with never call except to say the job was completed and would not have called to try and save me money. They were friendly and kept me informed and the job was completed on time without trying to upsell me things I didn't need but did advise me of some things that will have to do in the future. For 2 years this was my go to mechanic. I took all three of my cars here and never even considered other garages. The reason was, they did what I asked and did not try to up-sell me. Nothing bothers me more to go in for an flat tire and be told my water pump is broken. It wasn't broken when I pulled in here and If I didn't ask you to go poking around my engine then don't. This place was awesome at doing what I asked. Occasionally I did ask for the courtesy check and then I expected them to go looking around the engine but not every time. I even weathered some major mistakes like when they over tightened my oil plug and the oil drained out on my drive home. They tracked me down and corrected there mistake and I can deal with a misstep if they are willing to admit they're responsible. Then one day something changed. My $50 oil change started coming with $800 worth of recommended repairs. It wasn't just once but every time and it started to feel like Firestone and there is a reason I don't go to Firestone. I can't say the work go any less quality just that I now had to deal with the constant up selling and now I go elsewhere. I'm sure up selling is a large part of their profit and I get why places do it but it gets old being told your car need $600 dollars in repairs every 3 months. read more

Ever here this one ? " An honorably discharged United States Airman goes in to City Garage for an oil change and a 30 point inspection because he know that he needs some work done on his car. He gets the oil change but because of pure incompetence or bad training. He does not get the 30 point inspection as advertised. When he calls about it , they say they did it but found nothing that needed attention. So the Airman's father take it some where else and they right away point out that all 4 tires need to be replaced, the wiper blade both from and back need to be replaced, after driving it they pointed out that the steering pulls when the brakes are applied. Which mean he needs brake pads on all for tired and either new rotors or they need to be machined . Transmission fluid need to be replace. Cabin air filter need to be replaced and a few other things. This is a fact " if you get great service you will tell about 12 of your friends, if you get shitty service, you will tell everyone you know and meet." read more

They just tried to charge me over $890 for a new starter on the 2005 CRV. Then when I said that was too much and came back to pick up my car they tried to charge me $110 just for the diagnostics check and I'm pretty sure they would have charged me that much had I not said that was outrageous and had the guy go talk to his boss and had my husband and his brother not been standing right behind me. After he talk to his boss about a hundred and $110 turn to $55 real quick .If you are a girl I highly suggest you do not come here or bring your car here by yourself because they will rip you off. Instead I took my car home went to AutoZone got the part and hired a mobile mechanic to take care of the rest and it only cost me $330. New starter with lifetime warranty- $180 Paying somebody to put it in- $150 And that was for the more expensive started they had even cheaper starters all the way as low as $85. It really is a shame because I have two different cars and I would have became a very loyal customer of theirs had they not been trying to rip me off I've been looking for a new mechanic ever since I moved down here this won't be it I guess I'll keep looking. read more

I really can't say enough great stuff about this place. As crazy as it sounds I feel like they are part of my family. When our teenager has a problem with her car, they are the first ones we call and they are always able to quickly sort out the problem. These guys are simply amazing!!! This is 2nd time I have been to them and I'll continue to go back. I know nothing about cars, and the have no problems explaining everything they are doing and why. When my car needs to be left there they offer to bring me home(I only live maybe 5 minutes away) and pick me up when finished. I have not felt pushed or talked into anything they are open and honest. Called and spoke with John, not asking for a diagnosis, but just a general idea of how long it would be to be seen and charge to look at my car. He was so helpful! None of the "you'll have to bring it in, I can't say without looking at it" he gave me prices for the different types of inspections it may need and assured me that they can usually look at it right away so no "drop it off and we'll look at it as soon as we can" or "anywhere you take it they'll have you leave it". This place is great! I was pumping gas one night and realized my head lamp was out. Normally I would just pop a new one in.. But it was flickering and I was so not wanting to deal with a short. I had a long drive ahead of me- so I searched for a mechanic that was close and still open (This place stays open till 7 most nights). It was 15 minutes till they close and the guy said just come up anyway and he would take a look. When I pulled up I noticed they had a full garage with all the lifts full and cars in the lot. One of the three guys came out to greet me and asked if i was the one that just called- he had me pull up halfway in a bay and took about 10 minutes checking the wiring. He sent me next door to buy my own bulb and popped it in for me. He said no charge- just come back if I need anything done. I insisted I pay him for his time and handed him a $20. I *love* these guys! They always make the stress of car trouble less miserable.They are honest and direct. They have no interest in trying to convince people to have a ton of work done that they don't really need. I've had several conversations with them in which I have asked something like: "Tell me how long I really have on this problems." While other mechanics may respond that it needs to be done immediately, the guys at City Garage will only tell you that if it is absolutely true. Not only are they honest, but also they are incredibly accomodating. If I know that I will need some work on my car that may require them to order a part, I will call the day before and tell them what I need. They can make the phone call to have what I need available so that I don't have to wait all day at their shop. Their prices are reasonable, and the work is stellar. I have been a customer of this particular location for almost ten years. I actually don't freak when something is wrong with my car because I know that they won't take advantage of my situation. Finally, even though I am a woman, I do know a bit about cars. Never once have the staff at City Garage treated me like I am a clueless girl -- an experience that I have had at other shops. Unfortunately, I have also had some experience with highly dishonest business owners from all types of businesses. Drove from Missouri to Arlington...600 miles. Three times my engine shut down into safe mode, last time was on LBJ...not fun. Limped into City Garage on my moms recommendation. They understood I was traveling and we're waiting for me. They ran diagnostics and found out it was a gunked up throttle control assembly. Only needed a cleaning. I was in an out in an hour. Ive never noticed this place. The tire shop next door was crowded. Upon arrival the folks behind the desk was eager to assist me. I needed an inspection. They also checked my car to make sure everything was good. I ended up purchasing a battery and getting a broken brake light fixed. The complete cost was $207. I would recommend picking another mechanic down the road. Second time coming here. Wrote the first off due to a job but the second no excuse. Failed inspection " leaking exhaust" no visual just said he heard it. Simple, can't fail something because you heard it. You need a measurable degree to confirm something before you tell a customer. I have some mechanical knowledge, since I knew the car was locked in a garage for fours years told me the diagnostic wasn't correct and so I took my vehicle to jiffy lube. I took my car in this past Monday 12/2/2019 to have it looked at as when I stepped on the brakes over 30 mph the steering wheel shook. They said it was the brakes and they took me home while they worked on it. I got a call saying the front brakes were fine but the back brakes needed to be replaced and that the drums were warped and needed replaced also. I told the gentleman that called that I also needed him to check my transmission fluid levels because I had found a nickel sized spot on my garage floor when I arrived home. I waited for a call, finally at 5.30 pm I called them myself they said the car was ready and they sent a driver to pick me up. I got told when I got there that they had test driven the car and the shaking had gone. They had also put in some dye so that after my trip to Bedford in a couple of days I should bring it back and they would be able to see where it was leaking from as it was so minor. Imagine my surprise when I got on the highway today only to find out that not only was the shaking still there when I hit the brake it was worse than before and now there was a loud knocking sound to go with it. After my doctors appointment I drove there and told them what was going on. They looked at my brakes and said everything was fine but that the "leak" was coming from the differential and I needed work on my transmission. I paid almost $500 for the brakes to be fixed that were supposed to fix my steering wheel shake. I am a 78 yr old women and no little about fixing cars, I have taken very good care of mine. It is a 2002 Saturn Vue AWD, with 83,550 miles on it. I am now wondering what if anything they did to the brakes and drums, was it really needed as it certainly has not fixed my problem. I will never recommend them to anyone, I am a member of AAA and I will be contacting them to let them know of my experience with someone they recommend. R. Baker. read more

I would, and likely will, go back again to this City Garage if not others. I drive a car that belonged to my aunt, who used them before. I stopped in to replace a battery nearing warranty expiration. They were quick to greet me, courteous, helpful, explained everything*, and finished with little wait time. *The battery was under warranty but the labor to install was not. He explained this BEFORE doing the work and allowed me time to make my decision without feeling pressured to go ahead AND without feeling guilty if I chose to leave. The final cost was also reasonable and matched the quote. The waiting area was comfortable and clean. They kept me apprised and checked on an additional issue or two related to my safety as a driver. As a single female, I really appreciated that. Even though I was the only customer, they neither neglected me nor were they over solicitous. They did not give me a "hard sell". I hate those. Instead, they let me know how and where they were available and offered their services (at all locations) for future services. I was more than satisfied with the service I received. read more

Charging me over $300 for power regulator parts. It actually cost about $100. Yikes!

They are fast, friendly, efficient, and honest. Yesterday, I had my back brakes done. The front brake pads were still at 60%, so I could wait on those. After they fixed the back and took the truck for a test drive, they found I needed a bearing done too. I called around for quotes, and City Garage was the best around, so I went back today and had those done. When I picked up the truck, the guy says, "I have a story for you." I cringed. He goes, "No. It's a good story." Long story short, they ended up able to do the bearing AND my front brakes for the same price as they quoted me for the bearing. Now I'm all set! read more

RIDICULOUS MARK UP ON PARTS. I needed the alternator fixed on my 2009 Scion XB and saw that these guys had good reviews and were close. When I called, I was told that they could not give me a quote over the phone (which seems to be the trend with auto repair shops). I told him that my vehicle was not reliable, at this time, so I didn't want to chance driving there for nothing. He said the best he could do was to give me the cost of labor. I had already priced the part, and understood there would be a markup, so finding out the cost of labor seemed to be a good thing. He said it would be $110, for an hour of labor and they could get me in today. I had priced the part at several places for $165 and again, expected them to mark it up, but didn't expect the quote they gave me when I arrived. Based on what I knew, I chanced driving to their shop. The quote ended up being $560! They were going to charge me $450 for a $170 part- absolutely ridiculous. It was such a waste of my time and little bit of umph my car still possessed. I called Service Pro Auto down the street, who DID give me a quote over the phone, almost $200 under the City Garage quote AND got me in almost immediately(great yelp reviews, too). Just FYI: The other quote I received was from Christian Brothers- $500, Mymechanic- $70 (labor) I understand that auto repair can be pricey, but it's definitely worth it to check around so you don't get price gouged by businesses like City Garage. read more

It's sad that so many years of going to this City Garage location that they didn't want to take a little bit of extra time to do a oil change! I've got a wheelchair accessible van which is lowered a little bit but they never had any problems before with it. The last time I went in they took it back and after 15 minutes the guy brings it back to the front without doing a thing! He told me they couldn't get it on a lift!! Wow really they did for several years with no problems but this time they didn't want to work! Instead the guy told me that I had to go to a garage to maybe replace the shocks!! REALLY they are a GARAGE but to lazy to help! I trusted them and never had problems so even though I now live 2 & 1/2 hours away I was still using them but not anymore that's for sure since they're was a lot of other places who've had NO problems with working on my van!!
