I got my brakes done at Break Master about a year ago. Recently, while driving, my wheel locked up and almost caused an accident. I took it back, and they told me the bolt had come loose. This could have been deadly. The loose bolt also scratched my rim, and they didn't take any responsibility - they just tightened it and sent me on my way. On top of that, they couldn't even find my car in their system because they wrote down the wrong license plate and VIN number. Completely unprofessional and unsafe. read more

I went to do service for my truck on December 2022 and i was there 10 Minutes before they open lol and i was second on line and I requested oil change an transmission oil change Francisco the manager suggested the service the one they change all the oil for transmission and gaskets so i was there from 7:50 am and waiting and waiting around 11 am he tells me the transmission oil they don't have any and they will deliver any time so i went to have coffee came back 45 minutes after and waiting till 1 pm he tells me my truck is ready and he give me a 40 discount for waiting so was so angry and after that discount i was a little better and I left the place I noticed my truck on all stops make a weird noise and i was thinking maybe for the new oils so did pay any attention that was every day and on Monday January 27 i was going to work and waiting for the lights and the lights turn green so I press the gas and my truck did move and i move 5 miles per hour i have to move to right side of the street and try to avoid blocking traffic and for 30 minutes till i get a place to park and wait for 30 minutes after that it work normal and get to work next day i took my truck to Toyota dealer on mission hills and explained my situation and they checked everything and did find anything and they find out the truck have new transmission gaskets looks new and i tell them i have a service to transmission weeks ago and they check the oil and noticed the oil was really low they add 2-1/2 quarter low and missing bolts that was the reason my truck did move was low on oil and try to contact the owner because they tell me this location is a franchise and is taking for ever this guy was so angry that day and I don't think that's my problem and i have to deal whit this i will be on accident or my truck will be damaged thanks to him i star going to this location since 1999 24 years and I recommend this to my friends and family members now i just want they to be responsible I will never go back to this location on Sherman way and balboa on Van Nuys Ca read more

Had my brake pads replaced about 6 months ago and have put less than 5,000 miles on them since they were replaced. Now they screech LOUDLY at low speeds with no brake pressure applied, and sound awful under 30mph braking. Definitely a botched job, and obviously done wrong on the left and right sides of the car. I went because my brake light was on. They checked everything and said the brakes were fine. While I was there a woman came in quite agitated over some work that had been done and Keith said he'd have it checked out. He took the clipboard and put it on the chair next to him and she got furious that he was tossing it aside. Not true. His desk was just filled with other boards. She got nasty and he told her she could take her car elsewhere. She then had her son come in to fight with them. She was just upset and over reacting. Keith (the guy behind the desk) did nothing wrong and I saw he was clearly upset the rest of the time I was there. Rather than making me go back to the other inconvenient location, they stepped right up without any hesitation and told me they'll take care of me. Suffice it to say, I said no to the dealership and hit with a 1K estimate at joint number 2. 1350 dollars and a small seizure later; I went to Brakemasters and Keith hooked me up big time!! How big? Long over due review. Went there twice a long time ago for an oil change and Francisco recommended I replace the fuel injectors. My car was at 150,000 miles at the time so I agreed. The very next time I go in for my next oil change he tries to tell me the same thing. I needed to replace my fuel injectors. The sloppiest attempt to scam me. He didn't even remember I had come in for a oil change just 3k-5k miles ago and he tried to upsell me the same crap. I didn't I even get my oil change from them that day. I had a wheel stud that needed replacing ASAP probably due to some small corrosion which caused the lug nut and metal screw thing to be broken off. I am happy with the service and $69 was a fair price! Everyone was wearing masks and there is a sitting area with chairs spread apart. I got a front and rear brake job 2 years ago on my 2013 Prius. The car didn't get driven much, but in the first 2 months I called them back to complain about a strange sound from the rear brakes. I took it back in and they did said there was nothing wrong and the sound would go away by itself. Indeed it did, but within 20K miles I was getting severe brake shudder. Took it to the dealer and they said that Brake Masters did not resurface the rotors properly in the first place. Now the brake pads (that still have wear left on them) are uneven too and the whole job has to be redone. These guys obviously cut corners and are scammers. Truth be told their price isn't that much cheaper than the dealer's and now I have to pay double for my brake job. read more

Keith provided excellent customer service! As a female I am often times apprehensive about taking my car for service repairs but Keith was awesome. His warm and personal approach in helping me figure out if my brakes needed to be replaced or not was comforting. He confirmed my master cylinder needed replacing and my husband was able to replace it so I did save some money but he offered to check out the work for us to confirm that is was done properly and flushed the system ensuring I was safe. I HATE getting Oil Changes. After they do the oil change, they always find some expensive repair to show you, that you must fix immediately. Recently, they called me from the waiting room to show me the right front (hub) tire had major "Play" (Looseness of the tire). I needed a $289 repair. I declined to fix it & brought it to a friend for a 2nd opinion. He checked the tire & found that the center Lug nut was loose & he tightened it. No repair was necessary.
