She taught me how to understand Scout's cues, how to reinforce her progress at home, and how to feel confident in supporting her growth. We also worked with Geraldine and Sophie. We live in Los Angeles, but turned to K-9 Activity club because Dolly has been happy there in the past. We wound up leaving Dolly for one more week that we originally planned; K-9 accommodated us, much to our relief. Staff showered Dolly with love and we received pictures of big-smile Dolly, sitting in the shade, in her "report cards." Dolly was even more fit and chill when we reunited. It's also not easy to find programs that train German Shepherds for service and give them to civilians that need them. I have my reasons for wanting the GSD instead of a lab or golden, and it's related to disability. Then there's the ridiculous cost and waiting period for a program dog. Enter Incredible Canine with their amazing resume. Unfortunately they don't have a ton of reviews which made my decision unnerving. But after three weeks of absolute torture (and having to foster a dog to keep my stress down and mind off his absence), I got him back. Well, my dog was a shelter dog where after I paid for him one of the staff said he pulls so hard he needs a harness. True. But not after three weeks with Incredible Canine. He came out the day I got him back and as Lorna was working him, I wanted to cry - he reminded me of a show dog! For the next few months I worked with Patrick alongside my dog. I now have a dog that just completed a successful 20 minute down stay at Petsmart with another German Shepherd and other dogs and people walking around. He heeled with me and a leash loosely around my neck, rather than in my hands for a while in Petsmart without sniffing treats or getting very distracted. I'm so excited about our training and know this was well worth it. We have fundamentals down I would have never been able to get (or had the patience to get down at this point) in such a short period of time. I'm realistic and know I will need to begin training another dog in about 4 years. I hope Patric and Lorna will train another one for me!

We enrolled our pit bull puppy, Daphne, in their four-week training program when she was about four months old, along with the Grow With Me program. Like most puppies, she was extremely energetic and still working on potty training, puppy nipping, jumping, house rules, and overall manners. Daphne came home like a completely different dog--in the best way! She was calmer, more confident, better mannered, and had a much stronger understanding of what was expected of her. One thing we especially appreciated was that no electronic collar was used during this stage of her training. After having a previous experience elsewhere where we felt one was relied on too heavily, this was really important to us. We also loved that Daphne received plenty of socialization and real-world exposure. Bridget took her into different environments, and we received regular pictures and updates on her progress and the areas they were continuing to work on. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and truly feel the investment was worth it. We're already looking forward to Daphne returning around eight months old for the next phase of her Grow With Me program and eventually working toward off-leash training. We just completed our second training camp with my clever canine. At our first experience our dog…read morewas roughly 5 months old and this time we were returning with a 1 year old pup. We had maintained a nice foundation but felt it was appropriate based on a myriad of factors. We were placed with Emily and our experience was excellent. We knew Emily from many of our group trainings but had yet to do extensive one on one with her. Emily's approach is honest, consistent, soft (but firm) and very relatable. She was communicative in every way and made us feel safe. Given we had already done one camp we felt comfortable with the facility but each trainer brings their own nuance. Emily was clear and concise with each weekly update- she was really positive and had a ton of healthy feedback. Training is a huge investment of time and money.... Something we don't take lightly, but we have felt it was incredibly worth it both times. The continued support offered is 10/10, the communication is consistent and the general vibe is that everyone really wants to be there, including all the pups. Our dog has been home one full week, and we feel really good about the tools we've been given for continued success.

We waited only about an hour to be seen--we were lucky that they weren't too busy. The veterinarian on duty, Dr. Robin Schaffner, was thorough and painstaking. She recommended blood and urine tests and suggested waiting for the results before deciding on the next course of action. I really appreciated that she didn't prescribe medication "just in case." She took the time to find out what was actually going on before treating Ruthie. A big shout-out to the veterinary technician, Alayna, who showered my nervous-wreck-of-a-dog with love and kindness. Ruthie was clearly much more comfortable because of the care and reassurance she received from her. Dr. Schaffner followed up with us the next day when the bloodwork results came back, which I very much appreciated. The charges were also very fair. I know some people complain about the examination fee being taken up front, but I suspect this has become necessary for the clinic. Veterinary care is expensive to provide, and veterinarians and veterinary technicians certainly don't go into this profession for the money. I'm simply grateful to have a place where my dog is treated with such care, compassion, and professionalism. Thank you, Dr. Schaffner, Alayna, and everyone there who took such good care of Ruthie.

We brought Taz in after he was bitten by a dog, and as stressful as the situation was, the team immediately made us feel like he was in the best hands. Bengals can be intimidating if you've never worked with one before. Taz has a very loud growl, and his meow sounds like he's ready to attack, but he's actually a sweetheart. Because of that, I'm always a little nervous about how people will react to him. Jacob was absolutely amazing. He worked seamlessly alongside the veterinarian, and together they made an incredible team. I was especially impressed with how calm, patient, and confident he was while helping treat Taz's injuries. When it came time to clip and clean the area around the dog bite, Jacob worked with me to keep Taz calm, and together we were actually able to get everything done without having to sedate him. That was huge for us because Taz has always had a very difficult reaction to sedation. Jacob's gentle handling and compassionate approach made all the difference. From the moment we arrived until we left, Jacob was attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in Taz's well-being. He made sure we had everything we needed, checked in on us throughout the visit, and gave Taz plenty of extra pets and reassurance. The thing that impressed me the most is that after roughly ten visits over the years, Jacob is the first person Taz has ever truly liked. If you've ever owned a Bengal, you know that's saying something! Thank you to the entire team at VCA Animal Care Center, and especially to Jacob, for turning an incredibly stressful emergency into such a positive experience.
