Started off with an over-the-phone session with my 1-year-old golden retriever, then swiftly decided to do an in-person session at our house, and Sherry was very friendly, and very professional. It was nice that an expert could see in person the rascal that WAS my dog. He would jump up, disobey commands, constantly pull on his leash on walks and displayed sometimes frightening behavior-uncontrollable. After a couple sessions Sherry recommended he come to her camp for a couple weeks, and after a week or so of frustrating behavior, I dropped Nooch off at her camp. It's a playground for dogs. Tons of obstacles and toys, with only a few other house-mates to share the space with. She sent videos regularly, and I visited whenever I had the chance. She was very accommodating, as it felt strange not having our dog to greet us everyday. When I picked him up, he was like a different dog (in a good way). He was much more well-tempered, obeyed commands, heeled, and walked right beside you. But the biggest improvement in his behavior was around the house. Now, he just follows you and, as they do in the military, stands at attention. No more does he run around the living room like a lunatic. He is definitely mans best friend. We can't thank Sherry enough for her hard work. I expected my dog to come back slightly more well tamed, maybe even learn a couple new tricks, but Sherry made him a true family member. read more

Move over Cesar Milan there is a new whisperer in town, fortunately in our town, too. Sherry is the best there is, hands and paws down. My problem pooch (dog aggression on and off leash) and I had been to several reputable and no doubt competent trainers over the 4 years we've been together. Nothing and no one was effective for whatever ailed her. We even drove into the SF for 8 weeks to complete, or rather fail, a program there designed specifically for "reactive" dogs. In spite of everyone's best efforts, my dog just wasn't making the connections until Sherry got involved. Within two months the dog was tolerating, if not enjoying, the company of other dogs which has floored anyone who knew this dog pre-Sherry. Sherry is just magical with problem dogs. My only complaint is my drama-queen hound now probably likes Sherry more than me...what's up with that? Seriously, Sherry was my last resort and a miracle worker who brought a profound love of dogs, remarkable expertise combined with years of successful experience, and just that ineffable dog whispering thing to the benefit of my dog and me. I was on the verge of accepting my life with this dog was going to consist of grim mid-night dog walks, double leashing her if we went out during the day and her trying to hurl herself through car windows to get to other dogs, until I met Sherry. read more

Wow, I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sherry! She took us and our "monster baby" Loki under her wing for the three weeks my daughter was home from college with Loki. We can't even count all the ways she helped him: with socialization, anxiety, reactivity, being afraid of other dogs, barking, being afraid of men in hats. Sherry really gets tuned in with each dog she works with and customizes the training according to their needs. He is no longer barking his head off or growling at other dogs and has improved with anxiety and reactivity - huge steps forward! He played so well with her dogs and now gets happy when meeting new dogs! More importantly, she worked with the HUMAN and gave her lots of positive feedback to build her confidence (humans are not so different than dogs!). We are so pleased at how the training at Brainy Dog is for both people and dogs. We appreciate the animal and human interaction as Sherry helps us work with our English Bull Dog . We felt that we needed professional training because our dog is very anxious around other dogs and in new encounters with humans. Our dog's aggressive behavior was obvious when we first started working with Sherry, too. However, as we arrived for our last couple of sessions, it is as though our dog is returning to see her best friend in the world. Sherry has created a trusting relationship with all of us. We are working with Sherry at our condo to teach our dog Joey how to walk appropriately on a leash. He lashes out at people on the sidewalk, other dogs and people. He is a rescue that had no leash walks and very little contact with other people and dogs. We have had 3 sessions with Sherry. We started out with simple tasks to teach him first how to learn. He has accomplished that goal, and is learning to listen and follow directions. He will now sit before going out for a walk instead of scratching and racing outside. He is learning to heel with little or no distractions. Joey is just more calm in general, which is very encouraging. I am confident that with Sherry's assistance, that we will reach our goal of having Joey heel and remain calm while on the leash. I just had my first phone training session with Sherry and I can tell that she is very knowledgable and skilled when it comes to doing this kind of work. I was skeptical about how effective phone training could be with the concerns I have with my dog's behavior. However, Sherry broke it down to the basics and we worked on building some foundational skills to which my dog was already being responsive. She gave me instruction on what to do and I did as I was told and relayed what was happening to Sherry while she also listened in to hear what was happening. She also gave me some general tips and resources that were really helpful as well. Sherry is an amazing dog trainer. She takes the time to assess what method is best for each individual client and dog. I began working with her and my 8-year-old golden retriever in hopes of training him to be a certified service dog. We began with in-person training which was fantastic and then when the outbreak began we continued with phone training sessions. I was out of ideas and very frustrated dealing with my little dogs fear issues, caused mainly from lack of socialization as a Pup. Found Sherry and started doing phone training sessions to try and get a handle on the problem. She really understands Dogs and their thinking process. I have a highly energetic standard poodle puppy who is head strong and willful. Sherry had a solution to every problem I had encountered. I am a senior who recently had taken a severe fall and was in rehab for 10 days. I love my dog so much but was afraid of her causing me to fall again. I have a seventh month old golden retriever that I brought to Sherry. Phone training is great!! Sherry's professionalism, compassion for my granddog, firm boundaries, and clear direction to both him and myself made the trainings a delight and successful. Sherry is amazing! I rescued a 4 year old dog who was abused and did not trust people or have lived inside a house before.
