We got a wonderful, silly rescue named Dolly Pawton this year from Compassions without Borders and…read moreshe is simply the silliest dog. We have a sheep farm including barn cats, a border collie, Great Pyrenees, and an emotional support Maltese just for funsies. Dolly was way overstimulated with the combination of a new place, a heard of sheep, and simply nervous on how to fit into the new place. She also isn't super excited about new dogs or men- hence why we originally chose a male trainer. Over a few months Dolly has gone from intensely chasing the sheep to being able to coexist- has met new dogs- and we've gotten so many tips on how to integrate with the cats. She went from being pretty isolated in the beginning to being a part of our everyday routine (albeit leashed because our next step is an e-collar!!) the leaps and bounds that Dolly has made since coming here four months ago is so so wonderful to watch- and truly it's because Kevin has been supportive, open to a funny challenge, and accessible when I'm simply feeling nervous and need some advice. She has some pretty solid recall- and spends most of her day playing with our border collie. Everytime we watch them play I feel so grateful we reached out to Kevin and got the extra support. Kevin came out to the farm and worked with Dolly on not chasing, giving her an outlet (a flirt toy!) and met us with some new dogs so Dolly could have some exposure and positive experience. Each time has gone swimmingly and it gives my girlfriend and I the confidence to help her long term. If you're thinking of hiring Kevin I highly recommend- sometimes it's even just nice to have someone to ask "is this normal?" A few years back I was bit badly by a dog which kind of rocked my confidence in handling them. I'm very grateful that with Kevin's help it's returned and we feel that Dolly is such a good fit.

My dog had serious reactivity issues and could not get within even several blocks of another dog. After over a year trying to correct with a couple of other trainers and it only getting worse we called Citizen Canine. Nowadays, we can walk past dogs lunging and barking at her, even off leash. It takes dedication to your homework, but if my dog can do it, so can yours. Definitely worth setting up sessions with Dominic.

I have an 8 yr old English Bulldog who weighs about 70lbs. He always jumps up on people when he…read moresays hi. I did not think it was an issue until he was knocking over a friends child and then he knocked over another friends elderly mother. I thought that this could injure someone so a few months ago I started asking my friends if they knew a dog trainer. I was recommended to contact Dominic at Citizen Canine. I was told that he trains dogs who have problems and solves the issue kinda like the dog whisperer. So we talked on the phone and he said that he can stop my dog from jumping on people. We met at a local park and started the lesson. Little did I know that besides training my dog he was teaching me how to correct the bad behavior. I saw right from the start that his method was working so I signed up for more lessons. It has been about three months now and my dog has not jumped on anyone and the lessons have made him behave extremely well around other dogs too. He walks right next to me when we are walking and I don't need a leash. I will say you have to be dedicated to the lessons with Dominic and work on it on your own so that your dog responds to the commands. Dominic doesn't just train the dog he trains you. I think it was worth it and I highly recommend Citizen Canine.

So far, we have had a consultation and a training session and we look forward to more sessions and taking the group classes when they start up soon. Brian is kind hearted, cares deeply about dogs, and has been great to work with. During the consultation, he helped set up life sized stuffed dogs to see how our dog would interact with other dogs in a safe way and helped us to pick up on cues from our dog to better understand and support our dog as she adjusts to a new home and environment. Brian provided emails with materials and homework assignments. We sought a trainer that could help with focus, pulling less on the leash, and jumping up as well as help with socialization. He has been amazing and we are grateful for all of his support. We look forward to the group classes and highly recommend Brian for anyone looking for support with training their dog. He even helps train service dogs, which I think is so awesome!
