Unfortunately, I never had the chance to try out this boarding care for our dogs despite attempting to reach out for a long trip my family and I are going on next month (not around Christmas time). I reached out last week by phone, left a voicemail and when I did not hear back, followed up a day later with an email. I still did not hear back so several days later, called again but had to leave another voicemail. I decided to try and see if I could text and finally got a response. Per our text message exchange which hopefully is attached, they were rude and unprofessional in unapologetically and perfunctorily noting that no one was available until after the new year, with no acknowledgment of the failure to promptly respond. When I pointed out it would have been nice to have received a response letting me know sooner so I could make alternative arrangements, ironically they called me rude and said they would blacklist me. Well, I will certainly not be using them in the future or recommending them so no problem there. I can only guess all the positive reviews are from friends and family or referrals, because I had a completely opposite experience. Very disappointing. Please be warned. read more

This place is incredible!!! Friendly staff who know our dog when we walk in, clean facility and our dog LOVES coming here.....he gets excited about a block away and then pulls us in the front door haha. He does daycare once a week and has done some longer 5-10 day stays when we are out of town. Always comes home tired, but happy and not at all stressed. They send us photo updates as well to let us know how he's doing. We appreciate that staff sleeps on site with him as he's definitely used to being with his people! They frequently overcharge but will usually correct it if you call. We were shocked to learn on our last day that they put our dog in a timeout jail alone "for a few hours" because they thought he was playing too hard. What?! FAB-U-LOUS. I have had my dogs in four states and three metropolitan cities and this place knocks the socks off of anything I have ever seen. John and Molly were great and John immediately made me feel at ease when I spoke with him over the phone. The guy clearly knows what he is doing and cares about what he does. The facility is beautiful and incredibly clean. Both on drop off and pick up it looked like that day was the first day they opened: impossibly clean. There are separate dog areas for large and small dogs, one person per area (unlike other places where there might be one or two mangey teenagers hanging around) and viewing the dogs from the windows and small viewing boxes looked like they could have been filming a commercial. I don't remember seeing chain link anywhere. The place is beautiful enough that it could be a film set. seriously. I LOVED that I had choices for where the dogs could sleep (in insulated "dens" or in the bedroom where an overnight care person (that really deserves all caps, seriously, an overnight person?!) keeps an eye on everybody) and the assurance that they were not going to be kept up all night and stressed out by whining barking dogs. Everything I observed was top notch: no collars because they can catch during play, no ball throwing because it can cause issues, "lifeguard" for the doggie freaking swimming pool, separate areas for high energy big dogs and smaller pups, pick up and drop off service for intown daycare, washing the dog after 5 days of boarding, multiple attentive staff, and almost overly conscientious John- listening for barks and radioing orders from the office when he happens to be there. Both the dogs came back totally non-plussed to see me and it took me hours to get over feeling guilty about taking them home from such a haven. They were both clean, no fleas (it has happened before), and happy as could be. Decent dog care is SO FREAKING HARD to come by but this place blew all of my expectations out of the water. Even though this is 45 minutes from the city, I would never consider boarding my dogs anywhere else after this experience. If you care and want a worry free vacation, this is it. read more

My dog loves this place. When I worked in Petaluma I took her in 2 or 3 days a week and this is the only place I would board her when my husband and I travel. One of the things they offer is so much space (28k) and 10,000 feet of turf. My dog runs all day long and comes home a tired gal. For boarding they have a king size bed for dogs that are used to sleeping in a bed can do so when they are boarding. No cages so my dog can socialize, play and she loves all her human companions too. I wish I can go more often and we do the 60 miles round trip just to board Haley when we are traveling. Molly, John and the team are like Haley's extended family. They love her as much as we do. And the daily pictures when we are traveling is something we look forward too as much as the sightseeing. read more

If we could send Django to Play Dog Play every day, we totally would!!!!!! Our 1 year old is full of energy, loves to play and wrestle with other people and other dogs and now, thanks to Play Dog Play, loves to swim!! 2 months ago we moved up to Petaluma from San Francisco where we had previously entrusted our wonderful boy to K9 Safari twice a week. Django would get taken out on real nature hikes with beach time out at Fort Funston. We LOVE K9 Safari and were nervous, to say the least, when we realized we would have to replace these adventures with someone new. I did my research into "doggy daycares" in Petaluma and talked with John and Molly at Play Dog Play on the phone before we moved up, and eventually got to visit the ranch in person. I was VERY impressed with their facilities, to say the least! I mean, there is so much room for the pups to run distances, there are all kinds of safe, happy dogs to play with AND they have a HUGE outdoor swimming pool just for the pups! John even gave us a video that he recorded of Django's first fully submerged swim session - what a riot!! There were about 7 Golden Retrievers sitting on the edge of the pool watching our little mutt making a fool of himself. You could practically see the troupe of water dogs rolling their eyes. Now Django is apparently a swimming pro! Classic and priceless - thanks John! We drop-off and pick-up Django to maximize his time at the Ranch. He is always licking my face incessantly and appreciatively when he recognizes the drive toward Play Dog Play along Kennelworth. And when we pick him up, Django immediately falls asleep in the back of the car and snores contently the whole way home :) We can't thank John and Molly enough for being uber sweet, extremely responsible and thoroughly caring people. We definitely have a very happy and spoiled pooch on our hands and we owe it to Play Dog Play!! read more

All in all, I'm happy with their services and love sending one of my dogs out to play weekly but I continue running into issues when it comes to payment. If I call in payment in the morning I'm still asked to pay in the evening because the workers don't mark it off yet they encourage payment at drop off and or pick up and say either is welcomes. I no longer leave money on my account because when I last left $100 on the account I was told I owed before the amount should have been completely used and the worker could not explain where the funds went and why I owed the amount she was asking. Since then, I've never been contacted about that incident nor received an update of what amount was left from the original deposit. The workers print out statements that don't make any sense because when I've asked them to explain what I'm looking they say they don't understand it either and will have management or the owner call but I've never received any additional follow up. I just wish they had a better system for checks and balances at the end of the day. read more

I have been romping at PDP for over three years and just LOVE John, Molly and the entire pack. Swimming in the pool and running around all day with all my friends and new friends is heavenly. I feel so loved when I am here and don't even miss my mommy since I have so much fun. Pretty cushy to be able to sleep in bed with a few pals and a human every night when I am here too. Let me start off by saying that if your looking for boarding or daycare for your fur baby this is the place to go. I was very impressed even before I could actually bring NormaJean here as I have worked at diffrent facilities in the past nothing comes close to this. Molly had given me a tour of the facility and while she was explaining what they do during the day I could feel and clearly see what love she has for her business. After Normas first day of daycare she was happy and tired and I knew she needed that. I will recommend and continue to use there services as I would rather take my dog to a business that actually knows me and my dog the minute I walk thru the door then to a place that has no idea who my dog is and just puts her with other dogs. read more

This place is awesome! I have boarded my dog at a few different high end boarding facilities throughout California and this one by far has been the best. I can't say enough great things about the staff who truly care about all the dogs they take care of. This is the only facility that my dog has actually been excited to go to. The other boarding places she would start crying and try to run out the door. The thing that I love about this place is that I can pay a little extra and my dog can sleep in the room with the overnight staff. Another thing that makes this place better then any other place is that they will bring back my dog to my house so when I get home from my trip she will be there waiting for us. My wife and I are from the Peninsula, but spent this last weekend in Healdsburg. We've got a fairly new puppy (8 months) and wanted to make sure her first experience away from us was a positive one. The staff here are incredibly kind, competent and caring. The facilities are amazing and must leave dogs feeling like they've died and gone to heaven. They took excellent care of our pup and it was clear when we picked her up that she had gotten tons of exercise and made some new doggy friends. Play areas are divided by doggie size so smaller dogs are sure to have their own safe area (although my pug likes to hang out with the big dogs too).
