I am a small business owner and do not normally take the time to post negative reviews but I felt…read morecompelled to post this so that other small businesses do not have the same experience as I did with First Communications. After being a loyal customer for 4 years, our IT consultant recommended that we switch to another provider mainly because of the internet speed we needed to operate. We did so for both of our office locations. Our IT consultant, our telephone consultant, our new provider and First Communications consulted and went through the process of making the switch. Two months later, I received a disconnection notice bill from First Communications. When I called about this, I was told that their records showed that we were no longer a First Communication customer but because their service is billed in arrears, I still owed for one month of service. They also apologized that I did not get a bill for this and stated that they would send me one. I paid the bill and thought I was finished. About 2 months later, I received another disconnect notice. Again, I called. This time I was told that to disconnect, I have to write a letter 60 days in advance. When I asked why I was not told this when I called in January, they apologized but said that it is in their contract. I asked to speak to a manager who advised me that although he could not help me, he would bring this matter to the attention of his boss. Her response - send me an email with a bunch of highlighted language showing the contract terms and insisting that I make pay for 4 months of service that I never used. Although, we had a lengthy email exchange, she never addressed the fact that her employee told me that their records showed the account was closed and that all I had to do was pay for 1 month of service. It is my opinion that this is a deliberate tactic to collect additional fees from customers who switch providers. Prior to this time, I received my bills regularly. After I terminated, all I received were 2 disconnect notices, which allowed fees to accumulate. Prior to this time, I felt that I could rely on what the customer service agent tells me. Moral of this story - do not use this company and, if you do, make sure you talk to a manager any time you call and get whatever they tell you in writing!

I was a walk in customer to set up internet and wifi and it was a freezing store at 60° AC & mentioned it was cold. An elderly black woman told me she was waiting for 30 minutes for assistance and unattended this whole time. I perceived the wait to be long, but it wasn't. Aside from the customer being rung up when i walked in, there was one appointment and one walk in on the list ahead of me. She was here for a phone bill. I signed in on their computer touch screen, the only way to let the employees know a customer is waiting for service. I was on the wait list before her because I technically signed in and she hadn't. She didn't understand how to use it. I went to start to look for someone. She told me she tried to go up to someone for assistance on and said, "she wouldn't let me," referring to the manager, Felecia, a middle aged hispanic woman. She received no assistance or any direction on how to sign in. For 30 min. In a freezing cold store. No one came to this woman or showed her any respect until I showed up and was talking to her. I assume the manager overheard this as this is when she came by to sign the woman in. It was obvious that this was an inconvenience to the manager by the body language, facial expressions. and tone. I told the woman to go in front of me as I just got here and she'd been waiting so long and she was cold and she was elderly. She was about to leave the store and get a sweater because she was wearing a short sleeve shirt. I spoke up to the employees, the manager and the floor employee, a middle aged to elderly black man, about serving her before me and she'd been here half an hour. The employees and the manager resisted at first and claimed that they couldn't skip the line. I had to say it three times. But they can click no show and skip ahead to the next person? I said to do that but they got a different employee from the break room. That employee, D, left break early to resolve this issue and is excluded from this poor experience. She was kind and enthusiastic about helping me. The other employee serviced the woman. It took her three minutes to have her phone bill paid. after waiting for 45. She was waiting 30 min when I got there. I had only been there 15 min total. No one had any remorse for this woman or apologized or acknowledged any inconvenience or negligence. She was the sweetest, kindest stranger I met in a long time and DID NOT deserve to be treated this way. I actually cried when I got in my car because I was so upset she'd been standing there so cold so long. That's the effect my customer experience left me witnessing that! I really hate to say this but I believe the problem got solved as soon as I brought it up is because I am a white woman. I believe she was brushed aside due to her race and her age. I am appalled at this and would give 0 stars if possible. Her initials were RC. I am not exaggerating, in fact, I left out the fine details.
