I was surprised to get a response from her that not only was my appointment not going to be honored, she was canceling ALL of my appointments with her because she's decided to only do color and extension appointments. There was no remorse or an attempt to ensure that my scheduled services were rescheduled. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Your appointments are unlikely to be honored and are likely to be cancelled. You deserve better than the lack of professionalism and cancelled appointments you're likely to encounter.

So, I was relieved when I saw there was a hair salon here focusing on natural haircare products. Pre-Appointment. I often get flustered in the styling chair and don't always properly communicate the hair style I'm looking for much less the unique qualities of my hair (lots of long, fine hair, some coarse hair in the back). So, instead, weeks before I made an appointment, I emailed the salon describing the state of my hair (texture, up-keep routine) and the style I was looking for (trim, layered on the sides) including a photo of a similar hair style I liked. Appointment. When I got to the salon for my hair cut and styling appointment, Jalessea, the stylist already knew exactly what I wanted and was able to get down to work. Jalessea was diligent, gentle, and gave me the exact hair style I was looking for! I was so pleased with the outcome, her skillfulness, and the high quality natural haircare products that I was enthused to purchase products (made in Italy) she used on my hair. Next Day. On the day of, my appointment began with THE most amazing shampoo experience, which by the way, was included with my service. My scalp was massaged with one of her specially formulated products that had my hair feeling soft, moisturized, and amazing. Adjuana, the owner, answered my call late on a weeknight to book my appointment when another salon bailed on me last minute, got my appointment all set and even called to confirm it the day before. When I got there Coco was ready to go -- I didn't wait for a single second (on a Saturday, which I know ya'll know is unheard of), and the vibe in the shop is low-key but you can tell all the stylists take their work seriously. On top of it all, I found the price to be totally reasonable for my length of hair and what I got done. Its hard to find shop you love, and I'm so glad I found Twist It Sista. Most recently, I scheduled a 9:00 am appointment earlier in the week. At 6:00 am the day of, I received a text that the stylist was out sick and was asked about alternative timing. Given my schedule, I offered 9:00 or 9:30, and also said I could just cancel and do my own hair. Shortly after, Adjuana called and was very committed to making it work, so I agreed. We landed on a plan where I would wash and condition my own hair at home (a service included in what I booked), come in at 10:00 am for twists, and be done by my hard stop of 11:30. To her credit, she was kind and apologetic, kept an eye on my new stylist who was making some errors, and I was out only about 6 minutes late. However, the final result didn't meet expectations. There was far too much product in my hair; I had to ask the stylist to address visible gel residue and fix some ends. My styled hair stained my silk scarf and felt sticky to touch nearly one week later. And as someone who cares about hair care, not just looks, I'm concerned about how my hair and scalp will fair longer term. What was most frustrating: I was charged $130 for what was effectively a partial service, after being asked to do the wash portion myself. When I asked about the pricing, I was told she gave me a $10 discount. Overall, the experience felt stressful, expensive for what I received, and I didn't love the outcome. I did make clear to Adjuana that the cost to wash my own hair and not be happy with the outcome was too high. She said that for whatever it's worth, she liked the style and told me a different stylist to book with if I decide to come back. I still gave a small tip because my dissatisfaction was not entirely the stylist's fault, but I'm still in disbelief about how this whole situation was handled. As a fellow small business owner -- I won't be returning. On the positive: the space is comfortable, and if you have a stylist you trust and flexibility with scheduling, this may work for you. Then had to pay another 3 to have someone more skilled fix it. Showed her the repair, so she understood what I'd been looking for, and she was rude and condescending about it. Just sharing my experience to save someone else the embarrassment and stress I experienced. I skipped my cousin's wedding, and walked around with a hat for two weeks, because I was too mortified to show up like this.
