One of the most informative and interesting experiences I have had when it comes to things around…read moreyour house. I recently purchased a home and was recommended to John and his company. Top level service and he walked me through every step of the home I was buying. It was like a classroom as he instructed and pointed out things to look for. We came away with only 5 things needed to be completed by the seller but one big one was venting as the construction company never vented the upstairs bathroom.....so the fan would run but moisture had nowhere to go this eventually would've caused mold. I came away after a complete walk through after 2 hours feeling 100% confident in the house I was buying and the company I used for my home inspection. Thank you again John and son!

Let me start by saying John and Josh are fantastic! I have used them twice over the past 2 months…read moreand am so glad I did. They were able to point out and find issues with the first house, which I ultimately passed on, that saved me $20,000 within 2 years of buying the house. Without their high energy, meticulous professionalism, I would have regretted purchasing the first house. They work in tandem, so you basically get 2 inspectors for the price of one. One will look over a part of the house, take pictures, and then the other follows picking up even more details. The best part for me was the way they went about explaining everything they saw. Not only would they point out a feature but they would talk about the details of the feature, explaining its function, why its there, and what it serves. They do this for everything whether its correct or not. They are not stuffy or snooty, but make you feel comfortable and at ease like you are having your father or grandfather teach you about your house. If you are looking for a home inspector that will come in with no personality, dryly point out what is wrong with no explanation, not interact with you making you feel like a fish out if water, these guys are not it! I left both inspections confident that everything that could be found was found and correctly documented. Many times they would go above and beyond and point out things or inform me of things they were not required to tell me, but things they they would not feel right about not pointing out. I am so thankful for The Home Detectives, Josh and John went above and beyond. For one of the inspections my father was present, who has bought and sold over 10 houses in his life, and he stated they were the best home inspectors he has ever seen. They are professional, knowledgeable, thorough, personable, and affordable. Highly recommended!!!

As a result of his thorough inspection and explanation, I was able to prioritize the items requiring immediate attention and identify which items needed remedy repairs before continuing with the purchase of the home. Chris personally answered my call to schedule. He was able to arrange the inspection at a time that I could attend, and worked within the timelines of my purchase contract. With his expertise, he was able to inspect all aspects of the home I needed inspected in the same visit and estimated the inspection time at about 3 hours. Chris was patient and took the time to speak with me and explain the process and arrangements. At the time of inspection, he arrived just ahead of schedule and was friendly and efficient. He allowed me to follow him through the inspection and explained his process and findings as we went. He left no stone unturned, remaining focused on the inspection and completed the inspection right on the time estimated. He delivered the completed inspection report electronically within a day. I feel that the time and attention he gave the inspection and the fantastic detailed report provided were worth far more than the fee I paid for his service. The thorough inspection service and report he provided were far superior those of my previous home inspections with other inspectors. I very much appreciated that he reasonably assessed the condition of the home given its age and educated me at the level appropriate to my knowledge and experience along the way. I was very pleased and I will definitely keep his number on hand for future use and referral. Exceptional quality and value, thank you!

This company was recommended to us by our realtor, who always speaks very highly of this company. He got on the roof, looked up in the attic space, examined both the interior and exterior head to toe, and tested all the appliances. We had a limited time to get a home inspection done and they had lots of quick availability within two days. He took the time to show me and my fiancé where certain shutoff valves, the electrical box, etc were in the house we are buying and explained stuff in ways that I would understand (I know nothing about houses). The inspection report was very thorough and gave detailed pictures and explanations for things that need done. I feel a lot better now about buying my first home knowing that someone with lots of experience came out to examine it. Not only did this inspection provide us with a peace of mind, but also was a good education tool for us as homebuyers. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Dave talked to me for 15-20 minutes because he wanted to understand the problems I was experiencing. One of the problems was two brick encased windows. He let me know he didn't believe he possessed the necessary tools/infrared equipment to definitively diagnose the problems as I explained them. So, he refers me to another home inspector who he believed could provide an economical remedy. Who does this in today's world???? Add Dave Macy to such a list. Dave took the time to listen. He provided suggestions on where to investigate some of the other problems I was experiencing, but he turned the job down. I thanked him for his time, but more importantly for his integrity....since he didn't want to take the chance that his fee would not resolve ALL my concerns. Ironically, the home inspector he referred spoke highly of Dave's work product as a fellow board Certified Master Inspector (CMI). What's not to like about Dave, even though he chose to pass on my project. You don't get this type of integrity from people today. Thank you Dave, but in retrospect, I should have hired you just based on your honesty and integrity!
