Rankings in CT magazine mean absolutely nothing. Truly nothing, and it's almost--correction--it IS quite laughable that as an adult, you still take these metrics at face-value @Robby Z. I guess I am lucky to have been properly educated in advanced statistical methods and quantitative methods to be aware of these biases. Or perhaps my own personal ties skew this entire review due to inherent cognitive bias. Oh well, here I go.
The fact of the matter is that this office puts more time, care, and investment back into the office than any other medical related office I have ever visited (yes, this includes orthopedic, dermatology, pediatric, etc)--and I've had the unfortunate pleasure of visiting more doctors offices than one would want in one lifetime.
Having known the founder of Bracesaurus for 24 years (minus 3-months, taking my pre-adoption absence into consideration), I can assure you that this man, as well as the girls staffed in the office, pour more back into this office than any other orthodontists, dentists, or doctor in the area. *Ahem*, this really should be a no brainer, as anyone who has actually visited the office and sat through a consultation surely recognizes the amount of thought and care put into the business.
Empirical evidence clearly reveals that yes, many doctors do indeed enter this field (as well as general medicine) purely for the money, lifestyle, and status, but Dr. Kim is certainly an outlier from this demographic. To run an office the way he did requires an extraordinary amount of care, not to mention a selflessly large amount of MONEY, put back in as an investment. Most people would be highly tempted to take the money and walk away, operating at the bare-minimum. I dare you to find another orthodontist, dentist, or doctor that rivals the magnitude of internal investment exercised at Bracesaurus.
While Dr. Kim was around, you--the patient--were paying for the entire experience. This implied care, attention to detail, and genuine consideration for the future well-being of your dental health. To understand this is, understandably, difficult because it requires mastery of a portfolio full of various disciplines (advanced physics, biochemistry/mechanics, as well as, for a lack of more elegant phrasing, intelligence) in order to provide this type of care. I know it may be a compulsion to react angrily, but Robby Z, please understand for yourself and those around you, there are just so many different perspectives involved on these matters. Learning to properly educate and inform yourself before making such a fallacious claim will be an extraordinarily helpful skill for future endeavors.
