Needed a light meal to get over my jet lag. I was in the mood to have light tapas after a challenging journey.
My concierge warned me that most restaurants on Sundays close at 5pm. Thus, after check in and a quick shower to revive me, I decided to stay close to my hotel.
I stumbled upon BraCafe and thought it was charming and looked like a good place based on the steady flow of customers.
My waitress was courteous and handed me a menu and the specials. BraCafe is Barcelona's answer to the Brasserie in NY. It has an eclectic menu such as squid, salads, soup and light tapas like chorizo and croquettes. Dessert consists of crepes, ice cream and the classic postre flan.
I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken grilled. The croutons were pieces of light toasted bread which I had to forgo due to giving up bread. The salad was fresh with delicious slivers of Parmesan cheese and a light dressing. The croquettes were a mix of potato, fish and cheese; also delightful.
Inside reminds me of a cozy hangout for the locals to talk, catch up and eat comfort food. There's no time limit on your seating which is nice: one can enjoy a meal while reading or Yelping sitting in one of the comfy booths.
There is also dining al fresco which on a balmy 65 degree day in Barcelona, is heavenly.
