Sometimes we like to dry cure our meats and do custom cutting at home. My daughter is a culinary student so it works out perfectly for us to do the rest of the processing at home. The tour was amazing! This is the cleanest facility I've been through. They really know how to manage the process efficiently and how to treat the animals right in their finally days. He explained why some beef is dried and how the sausages are created. The owner really knows his stuff. All of the meat we got back was packaged beautifully and their sausage and smoked meats were perfect. I only wish they processed poultry :(

At Kroger, you mostly get rudeness and irrationality -- the customer is always to blame, seemingly. Good place to buy nice cut of meat and everything is prepared in the back of the store. The meat was fresh, cut to our need and nicely trimmed. All meats are hand cut per order. The only big issue it the pricing of the meat and fishes. They are quite high in comparison to the Bangladeshi stores in Hamtramck. We always buy fish and meat from Golam but recently we started to buy same items from Detroit area through our Frieda who live nearby and it costs us half the price. In addition to produce, they have a meat counter, many dried and canned beans, and an astounding array of snack mixes. Some small flies were buzzing around some of the plums in an unappetizing way, and several of the mangoes and pears were looking dried and past their peak of freshness. A very fun store for what looks like good cuts of meat (didn't purchase this time but will for sure be back to try their steaks), a limited selection of grocery, lots of pantry items, fun and unique snacks and candy, some quality beers and wines (wine prices reflect this - one only bottle I saw in the reds that was under $15), and ready-to-eat salads, sandwiches, soups, and other meals. Looks to be quality sourcing - quality brands and food items. I probably wouldn't go here if I have a specific list of items I need, due to a somewhat limited selection, but definitely plan to add this market to the rotation for "go inside for funsies and see what I come out with". Today I popped in because I was already at Zingerman's bakehouse next door and I needed red wine, beef broth, and onion for a stew I'm making today.
