It was overall terrible experience and as time goes on I realize it could have been catastrophic if I moved forward with them. I had a clogged drain and got an invoice from Essig on what it would cost to move forward with what was needed. Essig was at my home for several hours trying to clear my drain line. Did not try to upsell me on anything I needed. Jim was absolutely fantastic and straight forward and has proven to be a man of his word with Essig plumbing. I called berks plumbing for a second opinion and hydro blasting because it was recommended from a friend who is a plumber on the west coast after the traditional snake from Essig was unsuccessful before going into the foundation. Mike from berks plumbing quoted me at $2000 for hydro blasting and to clear the drain. However said if I bought a $4200 he would only charge me $1,100 for the hydro blasting. Beware single ladies, he is going to say run it by your significant other. I thought it was considerate at first, however, after sharing my experience with other members of the community, this is how he works even when he worked at other companies. Mike is a sales man, he cares about taking your money for the lowest quality work. He sold me on the water softener system, that I did not need and was not in my budget if I needed my pipes replaced at $8,000. He told me it would be beneficial to reduce further erosion on my old cast iron pipes. He assured me the hydro blasting and water softener would solve my issues. And I did not need my pipes dug up in the basement and replaced. I DO AND WHEN I SAW WHAT I SAW WHEN THEY RAN THAT CAMERA I KNOW BERKS PLUMBING SCAMMED ME!! They came out the first time, "ran a camera" (it never happened) and somehow what Essig couldn't get through, they chain snaked and claimed it was hair and lint and "successfully removed the blockage". When I asked Ardie, the plumber Mike sent for the job, to see what was removed from the pipe that was causing the drain issues he said he got rid of it already. Then I asked him what he saw on the camera and if there was a lot of erosion and he said "it was just dark". Ardie said he ran a small load of laundry and there was no issues and I was good to go. I ran a normal load of laundry in my washer and it backed up into the utility sink. Mike sent Ardie back out to correct the job. They came back out and I demanded to see what was going on inside the pipe. They used the same camera and as soon as they got in the pipe there were several holes in my drain line. Water was going under the foundation of my home and the pipes absolutely needed to be replaced. They didn't do their job properly the first time, I did not need it snaked or a water softener. I needed them replaced as Essig told me. Then when I informed Mike I was going with Essig he completely bad mouthed them. Said they do shotty work and will try to upsell me on everything. Coming from the guy who did just that. He lowered the price of the job and wanted to do it when I wasn't home. Red flags all around with him. Then he called me several times reducing the price of the job. I told him it wasn't about the money anymore that I was not confident in their ability to do the job. Mike was going to do it the next day. I live in west reading where you need a permit to do this type of work. He wasn't going to get the permit. He also told me the floor drain doesn't get replaced because they're obsolete which is also not true. I have text messages and I have a recording of the conversation between us. That's how unsure I was about this company. I would steer clear. The employees are unprofessional and their work is not of quality. They want your money. That's all, in my experience.

While I never had a problem with their customer service I did had a major problem when their contractor spilled oil and Haly sent someone to rectify three times. They tried to get the awful oil smell out of the house but it unfortunately stayed until the following heat season. May, 2019 we had a cold spring and when I turned back on the heater it made a clanking sound. Haly came out and found the blower wheel had come off center. 5/13/2019 cost to repair... $59 service call. Not too bad. BUT add on $25 diagnostic fee. Alright, still not too bad...BUT... $100 for MISC MINOR REPAIR * LEVEL 3 ... which I think is excessive Total $184.00 and has me thinking Haly doesn't value my history with them and feel taken advantage of. Now, I'm going to pay this of course but I think I'll check around this August for another oil company. 8/29/2019 ... I've found a new supplier. Telecon and email sent to Haly discontinuing their services. Interesting note: I've talked to a contractor today who said their customer expressed the same issues I've had AND they are discontinuing their contracts.

After 30+ years of using Haly, today I have decided to cancel our contracts and go elsewhere. We…read morehave 8+ oil and fuel tanks and associated boilers in multiple buildings, all of which was serviced by Haly for years. Today however, their tech that responded to our emergency service call was the most unprofessional thug I have seen employed by a home service company or contractor. I was told he would not waste his time examining our unit because it was only half the house that was lacking heat. My 8.5 month pregnant wife and I should sleep in another room, because he's got other houses to service that have no heat. well, that sounds like a manning and personnel problem with Haly, not a decision for a tech to make about what's more 'just.' Under those circumstances I could never make an emergency call as I have multiple heat pumps. When I inquired about our service contract, our history of having repairs like this completed, he reiterated (shouted) that he was too busy, and would not waste his time even examining the unit. I walked him to the rooms that were 49 degrees and falling, but he proceeded to become more irate as I asked him to at least examine the equipment they have been servicing for decades+, at which point, as he continued to become more irate I asked him to leave. Never, have I seen this kind of behavior from what was once a decent company. Haly oil was recently sold, and it is no longer the family run business by Bud Haly. I called the service center and asked to be reached by a manager, and have yet to hear from them. Imagine - if they will treat our business this way, how will they treat a single service contract.

Finish line is definitely a quality organization with reasonable pricing…read more I implemented a Yelp inquiry for someone to install our new dish washer. I decided on another contractor initially. The Yelp system sent my request to several Plumbing contractors. John replied with an interest to handle the replacement of the dish washer. They arrived when they said they would, called before hand and even stuck around to gain access to the apartment when tenant didn't answer immediately. After access the heating system it was decided the best course of action was to replace the whole system, even though they offered to look for parts for my 30+ year old system. This all happened on a Wednesday late afternoon and I had a new system install, new gas lines, new duct work, new thermostat and new vents installed and working by Friday evening. Having a number of properties I've never worked with a more reliable, friendly and professional vendor as Finish Line. They documented the whole process on social media so I can see what they were doing (I don't live in the area) and even called me later in the evenings to confirm, check-in and answer any additional questions I had after receiving the initial quote. I can almost guarantee you won't find a better provider than Finish Line. They set the bar for service, 100%

The gentleman that came out to do our sewer lateral was completely respectful and nice. However the exchange after that point has been horrible. They said our sewer failed and when I asked why and how I was told the manager is the only person that could tell me why and would call me back. I told them not to reach out to the township and that I wanted to speak to the manager to see what the "issues" were. The Manager never called me to discuss my sewer and when I reached back out they conveniently sent the sewer lateral inspection to the Township after I told them not too & told them that I would be getting a second opinion. I have sent 4 emails which they continue to ignore and never provided me with any information on why they failed it. We have family that is in the plumbing industry and showed them the video of the pipe and they agreed nothing was wrong with it and wanted to speak with them to discuss what they were seeing. I tried calling back on three way so I could discuss what was "found" and they never answered our calls also sent numerous emails which were ignored. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional. Ended up getting a second opinion and all we needed was a clean out for it to pass. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The sewer was flowing with no backup, yet the manager(who was nearly impossible to get ahold of) insisted the inspection would automatically fail unless I added another fee of $975 for jetting first, even though jetting is NOT a required step for a camera inspection and the line was clearly draining with tenants living in the property. When I questioned this, the manager became extremely rude and nasty and refused to provide a normal inspection report, stated he would "fail it either way," and hung up on me. This wasn't a recommendation, it was an ultimatum. To check whether this was legitimate, I hired a different township-approved plumber the same day. They scoped the line without jetting, submitted the report, and township accepted it with no issue at all. That tells you everything -- the first company attempted to push nearly $1,000 in unnecessary work, then retaliated when I didn't agree. In my opinion, this was aggressive upselling, coercive tactics, and unprofessional communication. I strongly suggest using another plumber, especially for township inspections. I will never work with this company again.
