Okay. Bottom Line Up…read moreFront: Dr Clarkson is a righteous dude. I just wish he practiced more kinds of medicine so we could all go see him for everything. I'm an amateur hypochondriac with at least one friend who is a professional hypochondriac, and I've also had a series of long illnesses in my extended family in the last five years. Further, we have moved from one coast to the other and back, thus completely changing the cast twice. I mention this in the service of saying that I have a lot of experience dealing with a lot of doctors about a lot of different kinds of illnesses, symptoms, treatments, and etc. Dr Clarkson is grade A, five star beef. All wool and a yard wide. Out of the forty-odd docs with whom I have had meaningful experience, he's in the top three, and he may very well be the best of all of them. He is attentive to the patients and considers carefully before answering questions. He is calm, unhurried, and rational, and he explains what he is thinking as well as what he is not thinking in a considerate, structured, and clear way, rather than just handing down a snap verdict, writing a prescription, and peacing out. Facts, people. Facts.

Dr. Clarkson and his staff are the most efficient that I have seen. He should teach a class on how…read moreto run a practice. I never have to wait even when I am 15 minutes early. Don't know how they do it. He is one sharp guy. Asks excellent questions to figure out what is going on. Very logical in his approach. He operated on me in 2005 and it could not have gone better. One of the best Docs that I have been too. Stacey O.

I would not recommend that anyone see Dr. Gupta. To be frank it's disheartening that someone such…read moreas him is practicing medicine as he has absolutely ZERO tableside manners. I had a bad experience from the second I walk in the door. To start the receptionist was very rude, the waiting room was overcrowded with barely enough room to sit and then I had to wait 40min after my scheduled appointment time to be seen. From there the first lady that brought me back to the room was kind and understood my frustration and explained they were nearly double booked for every appointment that day which is understandable. Once I saw the doctor he walked in the room and did not even introduce himself, he immediately just started reading my referral. From there he grabbed his otoscope and checked my ears, then sat in front of me without saying a word and stuck a nasal speculum in my nose, propped it open and blew gas in my nose with ZERO warning or explanation of what he was doing. He didn't greet me, didn't explain he was about to begin the inspection, didn't walk me through what he was doing and explain that it may be uncomfortable and smell/taste odd, he didn't say a word and immediately went into it. Secondly, when it came time to scope my nasal cavity he did the same exact thing, grabbed his tools and didn't explain a thing to me. He asked me for consent for the scope using the medical terms (I'm assuming for billing purposes) but never explained what he was about to do. I knew so little that I was opening my mouth because I thought he was going to scope my throat, it wasn't until he was 1 inch from my nose that he goes "oh no its going in your nose" then 1 second later started snaking the scope up my nasal cavity. I was so ill-informed I thought he was going in my mouth.. Then as I was wincing from being uncomfortable, rather than comforting me he proceeded to tell me that "it isn't that bad." The entirety of my consultation I couldn't get a single word in as he over talked me every time I tried to engage with him. Tried to explain my sinuses, over talked me then later asked if I have sinus issues. Kept giving blanket statements like "tell me more" with no elaboration as to what he'd wanted me to expand on, seemed more like it was self validation to feel that he was trying to let me talk but was ingenuine and had no direction. The icing on the cake, after I left the office I received a notification that they had filled a prescription for me for an ear infection - I later found out this was an error. This seems to follow suit with their quality of care. Having family in the healthcare system and being engaged to a doctor I understand some things happen but this was exceptionally poor service. I've sat through white coat ceremonies and he took a pledge that he is not upholding as this is far from the best care he can provide. He was rude, arrogant and clearly had no desire to hear my story and understand what I was experiencing. He just wanted to read my referral and rip through it. I'm sorry but this is a private practice specialty, not the ER. If he is overwhelmed it is by his own doing. He clearly has a god complex and thinks everyone is beneath him. People like this SHOULD NOT be practicing medicine. I will not be moving forward with care here and will be canceling my CAT scan appointment. I would highly recommend another practice, a good friend of mine just referred me to Raleigh Capitol Ear Nose and Throat. I would recommend you take your business there as he has nothing but great things to say after having a successful surgery.

My mother- who is an RN, educated about medical matters, and practicing in advocating for herself-…read morecalled Capitol Ear Nose and Throat At Wake Forest a month ago letting them know she had experienced sudden and dramatic hearing loss. She's a current/established patient at this practice and expected to be seen. She described the situation and asked for an immediate appointment. The receptionist told there were no openings for three weeks. My mother again emphasized that she had lost a significant amount of hearing overnight and pleaded for them to see her sooner. Again, they told they could not see her for three weeks. The receptionist who took the call is unclearly uneducated about how to triage calls. At one point my mom connected with a triage nurse, who did NOT pass the information to a doctor. The triage nurse simply said, "I can't diagnose you on the phone." The entire function of a triage nurse is to discern vital information and pass it to the on call doctor. At no point was this done. This is beyond comprehension to me and bordering on medical malpractice. Upon finally seeing her three weeks after her hearing loss, Dr. Brown determined she had indeed lost significant hearing and needed to start steroids THAT DAY to try to save her hearing. This is when realized that Sudden Hearing Loss is classified as a *medical emergency* and should be treated within 2 weeks if you hope to return the hearing. There was no apology for the delay in treatment, and no mention of steroid injections which may additionally help, nor was an MRI ordered. The only good thing I can say about this practice is that the doctor she saw in Garner today took her very seriously and was very empathetic. We will never know if my mom could have regained her hearing if she was seen in a timely manner. We still hope that she does regain hearing but as of today a hearing test showed what she thought- it has only worsened. The treatment she received failed to meet any acceptable standard of medical care. If you have other options, please pursue them. You will not receive competent care here.
