Over the last few months new groomers have transitioned in and I was never really satisfied with the cut but my dog always came home clean and it was near my house. Two Sundays ago I took my dog to get groomed and he came back horribly cut. And two days later he was scratching a lot. When I checked there was a circular sore. My dog does not interact with any animals outside of going to the groomers we keep him in the house and the backyard. Well one sore grew to five sores and we had to take him to the vet yesterday, and she confirmed that it was not ringworm but it was a bacteria. I am 99.9999% sure that my sweet boy contracted this bacteria from grooming at this establishment. They were likely rushing and not cleaning clippers & tools between animals. Now we have a 30 day regimen with meds and shampoos and $150 veterinary bill.

I genuinely don't recall how the first visit went but the second visit in April made me photograph the craftsmanship of their expensive work. My dog was left with a near bald strip between her eyes. It was so ridiculous that I shared this picture with coworkers, family out of state, and others along the way. Fur grows back but the idea that they did this with a straight face & said nothing and charged me full price and included up charges for the grooming was the insult. Upon taking my dog's offspring to get groomed as well, they decided he was a totally different breed than what he is and insisted that his grooming start at $136. I protested but they have the power to make whatever ridiculous decisions around how they classify him. This past week I had my dogs groomed & I mentioned what had happened with the shaved between the eyes issue and my male dog being reclassified as a different breed to be charged more I was met with very visceral reactions that weren't professional at all. I spoke calmly and comedically to lighten the subject of my issues in order to prevent a conflict regarding my concerns and I was dealt with as though I was yelling and screaming and being completely out of pocket. I was spoken to with such disrespectful tones and attitudes that I walked out of the grooming salon and said nothing back. Heres the deal, you cannot be the equivalent of a "Great Clips" level groomer and charge high end salon prices especially at the level of experience these groomers seem to have. Charging me a Doodle price telling me the texture of my dog's hair is wiry which Im already aware of when Doodles tend to have a softer coat and are more of an expense to groom in part because of the way this breed is groomed sorta more related to a Poodle. My female is an Airedale, which has a curly wire coat with a fluffy undercoat. Her son has a wire coat with wavy fur a d not much of any undercoat and his fur is much thinner than her thick curly fur. He's no Doodle but they insist on charging me a higher starting price based on texture when that in itself makes no sense. My husband picked up my male dog yesterday and he doesn't appear to have been groomed despite the costs I incurred. So $168 for my Airedale another absorbent amount for her son at a crap grooming salon. I could have contacted a mobile groomer with actual skill for these prices (Ive priced them previously) and it would have been higher quality and more pleasant for my dogs and I. I will not return, get your dogs groomed at your own detriment. If you go to Supercuts or Great Clips and they are charging high end salon prices despite the business model, you know it's over. PetSmart has always been a cost conscious dog owners friend with their competitive prices at Banfield Pet hospital, dog training courses, and budget grooming.Not anymore, this location needs to work on the professionalism of their staff. This motley crew is a hot mess express and are price gouging for their commissions. They lack in basic communication skills with the public and professional service attitudes when dealing with any level of concern. Locally I cant see things getting better due to the workforce and population but perhaps Ill save someone the grief of dealing with this location.

I called around and no one could do it this week until I called Bark Avenue. Jay was really nice and said he would work around my schedule. He was to arrive at 10a to start the salon services. He was running late but sent me a text to let me know and arrived at 10:30a. He and his mother (his partner was ill) took care of the 3 dogs and they were not nervous or skeptical. That says a lot because these 3 have been through so much and their confidence level is way below the radar. He cleaned everything up, vacuumed and left the place clean. I was able to use the Yelp deal so it only cost me $120 for the 3 dogs, and that included de-shedding for 2 of them (where others wanted to charge up to an additional $25). I would definitely have Jay back to take care of my dog and any other fosters I may have. Thanks, Jay and Mom!

He asked me to text him confirming the appointment time and my address, which I did. Unfortunately today I called them at 9am after never receiving a response to my text. They didn't answer, but called me back at 11 after me texting them asking them to please confirm my appointment since I work full time and would need to come home. He told me that he didn't have any record of my appointment, and even when I sent him the screen shot of me confirming the appointment he told me he never received it and that he was sorry. Long story short- they didn't even offer me another appointment or some way to apologize/rectify for the error (discounted groom? Come by on their day off?) and even though they were polite on the phone I wouldn't recommend such a disorganized professional service to any friends. I mentioned that their Yelp reviews seem to reflect lots of missed appointments and he said it was just the two of them so unfortunately that's why. I really think Bark Avenue should look into hiring an assistant for scheduling, or an online platform for booking appointments. You are losing a lot of dog-loving, paying customers by losing appointments and not offering any kind of consolation for the mistake on your end.
