I usually go to PetSmart for my dog to get his haircut and bath but wanted to find somewhere a little closer. I had high hopes at drop off but was really disappointed at pickup. My dog has hair of all different lengths all over his body and his tail hardly looks touched at all. I was pretty specific about needing his tail cut the same length because that's where he sheds from the most but it's uneven and barely looks any shorter. He was "ready" in less than an hour which may explain the rush job. I'm not too picky because I know he can be a little difficult but $44 for a patchy dog seems steep. read more

The people were friendly and I treated our elderly dog (Blue) with kindness. When he decided he did not want to be picked up, the groomer just trimmed his nails on the floor. His last experience several months ago included a buzz cut at Petco and they razor-burned his belly an nicked a couple of places on his skin and charged over $100! They told us that, when he got tired of what they were doing, Blue became unruly and was not welcome to return. Blue is the sweetest old dog with a very patient temperament, but even he can only endure so much. I cannot thank my dog-sitter (Rhonda Prince) enough for recommending The Hound Hut! If you are getting your pup groomed and/or bathed anywhere else, you are going to the wrong place!!! This past week I brought in my sweet pup, Tillie, for the very first time and I will never go anywhere else! I've already told all of my dog loving friends and family that this place is a NEED to visit! From my very first interaction with them over the phone until the moment I picked up my pup, the Hound Hut staff was so incredibly friendly, sweet, and welcoming. They answered all of my questions gladly and with a smile. And not to mention the price was absolutely incredible! They called me as soon as they were through with my dog (which was incredibly fast!) and were sweet enough to hang on to her and walk her until I could get off of work to come pick her up. The best thing though was that they have totally changed my dog's life for the summer! My pup is a mutt (the best kind of breed) that has the thickest hair you've ever seen - double coat to the max. We live in an apartment, so going on walks is a very important part of our lifestyle. However, in the summer, we can't make it a block without my dog overheating. Since coming in for her summer cut, however, that has changed! I have never seen her so frisky, happy, and cool while outside in this heat before! So many places refused to give my dog this cut due to her immense amount of fur, but Hound Hut, you changed our lives and made it possible for my dog and I to enjoy the summer together! This is a small shop that does a good job with my dog's grooming and bathing needs. In the past, I brought my dogs to the big box shops, and they would start shaking and whining as soon as I got them out of the car. Here, they are not scared and don't mind going. They also fit my dogs in within the week when I call to schedule an appointment (excluding major holidays). The best part of the whole process is the price! Took our terrier mix in today and gave very specific directions on her trim. We wanted her face, eyes, muzzle, feet and sanitary areas cut close but the rest of her coat was fine and didn't need a trim. They called approximately 2 hours later and upon our arrival to pick her up found that none of these areas had been touched. They had also misplaced her collar. No concern expressed over the cut or missing collar. Stated that if it showed up they would call us. This was our second time to use them and second time to be extremely disappointed. Thank God this was a groupon visit. Will never take my dog here again; seemed sketchy when I first dropped him off as to where all cages were at the front of the place and the girl NEVER called about when my dog was ready but claimed to and left a voice. Don't have any record of it on my phone. So I had to call to see after 4 hours of no notification and when I went to pick him up the place smelled AWFUL and my dog was shaking on top of the employees not presented professionally. On top of his hair was everywhere and didn't even look to be blow dried and the cut was horrible and had patches of hair not evenly cut. Nice employees but I won't come back. The large pet store chains seem to have a lock on the grooming market for the most part, and it shows in the prices they charge. So if, like me, you are looking for an economical alternative to the "Big 2" (Petco/PetSmart), then look no further than Hound Hut. Located in the strip mall that houses the Movie Tavern on I-20 and Green Oaks, the location is easy to miss. Look several doors to the left of the theater, and it occupies a tiny corner unit. To be sure, the location is "no-frills." The dogs waiting for service are all housed in kennels in the front of the store in a space about the size of a large walk-in closet. But the grooming was well-done; and the cost, at $15.00, was half what I normally pay at Pet Smart. So if you're tired of emptying your pockets to get your favored pooch washed and clipped, head to Hound Hut, and save some bones! read more

Have been here a couple times now and much prefer them over the big box places. I have s short hair dog so he only gets bathed, ear cleaning and nails clipped, however they are definitely cheaper than the other places. The staff is very friendly and an appointment is usually not necessary. read more

Kim is super sweet! Service was quick and affordable! She listened to all of my requests intently and my puppy looks beautiful! The location is clean. I had a tiny bit of a hard time finding it. I love this place. They have excellent customer service. They remember my last name and the name of my dogs. They even offered to bring my dogs to my car so I don't have to unload my 2 small children. The price is also excellent and the publish good coupons on their Facebook page. They have good pricing they are more reasonable than the large places like pet smart and Petco. They are always friendly, I feel good about dropping off my dog there and feel like they really care about the pets. They do a great job grooming my Yorkie, always exactly what I ask for. My fathers dog has been coming there for years and I plan to continue to bring my dog as well! read more

We will not be returning. Our dog wasn't bathed. Her hair is unevenly cut on her face and on her body. Groomer lied and confidently said hairs inside my dog's ears were removed. When I checked, in the groomer's presence, it is obvious that her ears were not done. Groomer suddenly changed her tune and said she did as much as my dog allowed her to do. Sounds like a cop-out to us. We're not sure if this place is incompetent or simply doesnt care or maybe both. Again, we will not be returning. read more

I recently visited this grooming business and was not impressed at all. I like to use small business owners for the individual attention. I found this place to be very rushed and unorganized. I did not receive the full service that I paid for, my dog was very stressed out when I picked her up, and only partly groomed. they are advertising on groupon at a discounted rate but as always you get what you pay for. please rethink taking you dog there just to save a few dollars read more

Loved this place! Called on a whim as a drop-in and needed my dog (Labradoodle) bathed, nails clipped, and trimmed. Very nice, super accommodating. He was in and out in about three hours and the prices are very reasonable. All of that for around $35. Love that it's a local business and they seem very organized. read more

We've been taking our dog, Yogi, since we got him. Although it's a drive for us, it is totally worth it. The staff is always friendly, and always accommodating. To date, Yogi has never had a cut or nick, his nails never trimmed too short, and always comes home a happy boy. I love this place! read more

I have taken my baby here 3times and this last time I realized she had a cut on her leg the fact that the staff acted surprised as if they didn't know she was cut was unbelievable to me when I spotted the cut soon as I walk in the door so I don't understand how the staff was unaware of it and it wasn't a small cut their excuse was my dog is just to small and they shouldn't have used the larger shaver they used and apologized however that is not acceptable to me no matter how small of a dog it is...I love my dog as if she was my actual child and I will NEVER put my kids in a situation where their not in the best care so I will not EVER take my baby back to this place I rather pay the extra 10bucks and go back to Petsmart...I do not recommend this place and not to mention my baby hair cut was choppy and not pleasing u pay for what u get and when I'm looking for a good cut I'm willing to pay whatever so I would do the same for my baby"dog"instead of settling for this place and go the cheap way because u will get bullshit services. read more

I just picked our dog up from Hound Hut and she looks AWFUL! Her coat is incredibly uneven, the places where they shaved her are done horribly, her front legs are not shaved, she has random tufts of hair left on her abdomen. On top of that, she is completely stressed out because of all the dogs in cages by the front door that start barking every time the door is opened. I went here based on all the stellar reviews and the close proximity to our house, but I will never go back. I usually take her to PetsMart, and she comes out looking like a million bucks, isn't all stressed out, and it costs only $6.00 more for the same level of service, except there it's done properly. Plus she came home and drank an entire bowl of water, so I know she was there for 4+ hours with no water. Now, unless I take her somewhere else to get this mess corrected, I'm going to have to look at this travesty of a dog grooming for the next three months. I knew when I walked in that I shouldn't have left her there. read more
