This company came recommended by my employer. I searched the website and found a product I liked, but there was no price listed. I called the shop and, after 5 or so minutes on hold, I was told that no estimate was available. Ken told me he didn't want to spend all day looking through their catalog and he suggested I place my order online and put an acceptable price range in the "Special instructions" field while placing my order. I asked how he would know if the item was in stock, he assured me they would make something work. I live in Western Alaska so I didn't have the means to go to the shop, and I didn't have much time to shop around so I ignored the negative interaction and followed the instructions Ken gave. As I processed my order, I left THREE phone numbers with instructions to call and/or leave messages if anything comes up so we could meet the deadline for a retirement party. I also had to attach an e-mail address while placing my order. I made the order on 12/21/15 and the retirement party was on 12/31/15. I got a confirmation e-mail almost immediately after placing my order. Today, 1/4/16 I reached out to them asking for a tracking number for the order to see if it got stuck in the mail somewhere. They told me the product I ordered was not in stock and they couldn't reach me to come up with an alternate product. There were exactly 0 phone messages from them, and I never received an e-mail for follow up. I am extremely disappointed in their service and I will never order through them again. I will actively discourage others from using their services. ***UPDATE*** I got the retirement trinket towards the middle of January 2016 and it had a misspelled word on it... We have been using Bovey for our awards at the Alaska Scottish Highland Games for years. The awards have always turned out great and they have always met the completion date they give us. I very seldom give a 1-star review, but I think it was earned in this case. I had a very negative experience with Bovey's Trophies (BT) in April and May of 2010. Our principal retired after a 45 year career and they sent it extremely late (after the retirement party and 22 days after I made the order) and to the wrong town. Here is a copy of the email dialogue that arose from that experience. Emailed on May 24, 3:45 pm From a customer to BT I placed this order for a plaque on April 26 and then via email on April 27. At that time I was told it would take about 7 business days (or around May 6) and then it would go in the mail to us via USPS priority mail, and I was given a quote of $110 plus shipping. Our principal is retiring from a 45-year career and we had a celebration for him on May 16th. I got a call from Ken at Bovey Trophies on Thursday May 13th saying there was a problem with the machine needed to make the custom grizzly bear and could they make it out of a substitute material. I said yes, but how come I wasn't notified a long time ago, and he said someone must have forgotten to notify me. I told him to go ahead and told him it had to go out THAT DAY via priority mail at the airport post office. I asked if someone could take it there that same day and he said yes he thought they could. My hope was by mailing late on Thursday the 13th priority mail it had a CHANCE of making it to Kasigluk in Saturday's mail (the 15th) in time for the celebration on Sunday the 16th. The proforma invoice and credit card receipt included on the outside of the box (inside the "invoice enclosed" plastic envelope) shows I was charged $125.05 on 5/3/10, although the invoice amount was actually for $123.05. That's problem #1. #2, the box was mailed on May 17, not on May 6th like it was supposed to, and not even on May 13th like I was told it would. #3, it was sent to Akiak School, Akiak, AK 99552. The "ship to address" on the proforma invoice you sent with the box shows the proper shipping address of Akiuk School in KASIGLUK, AK. These are 2 completely different villages. #4, we finally got the box on Friday, May 21st. School was already out. The retirement party was over, prom was over, the student awards ceremony was over, there were no more gatherings at which to surprise him with the plaque. So you screwed up on many levels, including OVERcharging me, then using what is presumably an inferior material, sending it late, and sending it to the wrong place. I would like to know how you plan on compensating us for this debacle. I'm not new to the bush and I know it can be tricky to get stuff where it needs to go on time, but this was just clearly a bunch of preventable screwups on your guys' part. Please give me a reason not to trash your reputation around our school district. We could have sent that out to you but we didn't. We had to start ALL over again which meant buying the material again. We normally charge charge our customers for having to redo items. Is that (the proof sent via email on the 13th) the one that was wrong? I don't feel like I did anything wrong. What was wrong with it? You guys drew it up! I'm really surprised you can't do more for me than $2.00, which you can keep. I'm sorry if you feel I'm a "problem customer." I'll not try your company again. read more

Our Club decided to go with a local trophy company as opposed to ordering from a e-business. Myself and our members are SO happy that we did! Their trophies were great and an amazing value. Their staff was wonderful and responsive to create, edit and suggest changes that really made a unique trophy for our club season. These people are very rude and unprofessional. I went into their shop on Saturday, Nov 12th to place an order for a plaque I needed by Nov 18th. We talked in length about what I wanted and they told me it would be no problem and even put a pick up time for Nov 17th at 3:30pm on my invoice. I called the morning of the 17th to make sure that my order would be ready by that afternoon. The guy got on the phone and said it wasn't ready, but he would get it started. I reminded him that I needed it by the next morning before 11am at the latest. On the 18th at about 9am, I called to see if my plaque was ready. The lady who answered the phone said that it wasn't. She said I was emailed a proof that morning that I needed to approve before they could make the plaque. I asked her why none of this was explained to me beforehand and she put the phone down. I could hear her in the background literally yelling and saying I was mad at her. I thought I was being pranked. A man came on the phone and very rudely asked, "What can I help you with?" I calmly explained the issue to him and he basically just blew me off. He said the order wasn't ready and that they have been super busy and "that's just how business is sometimes" and even told me that I am more than welcome to come to his shop and work there a day to see just how swamped they are. I asked him why I never received a phone call and he said they just don't have that kind if time to call their customers. I asked him if that was acceptable to him to run his business this way and he said, "Well, no. I hope you accept our apology" without ever apologizing. He offered to put my plaque on the printer right away but if there were any errors, he would not accept responsibility since I didn't have time to approve and sign the proof.
