Stop looking at any other company and use these guys, for real! Marcel and Daniel arrived and we were impressed immediately with their professionalism and attention to detail. You can tell they care about what they do! They assessed our belongings and came up with a plan of how to maximize space, efficiency and protect our belongings. We had most everything packed in boxes/ bins but the items that didn't fit they cared for as if it was their own belongings. But the best part was their work ethic. At no point did they ever seem to be wasting time and that is truly a blessing for someone charging by the hour. It took a few hours to load everything (mainly because one of the elevators in our apartment was down) but upon arrival at the drop off location they got everything out and staged where we wanted in right about an hour. Everything between his estimate and timing questions he was as close as can be. Even before our move without seeing our apartment he estimated 12 hours and it would have been right at that if it weren't for our elevator and some traffic. Worth every penny! If you don't hire these guys you will regret it. If you do hire them and you have anything negative to say come talk to me. This review is 2 parts. 1) the crew. Showed up on time. They were polite and helpful. They worked as fast as they could and did a great job. No issues. 2) Management: Marcel. I replied to his email regarding items to pre-order (boxes, wardrobes etc) 3 days before the move and then nothing...crickets..did I need to find a U-Haul at the last minute?.Finally after leaving emails and VMs I got a text the night before the move confirming. THEN after the move was completed he wanted payment over the phone. Nope. I asked for an itemized invoice then I would pay. He got crappy and said I could pay THEN I would get a rcpt. I had somewhat of a sudden move & had to change my place due to unexpected situations....NOT FUN....so I had to panicky (is this even a word?) look for movers to save me!!! I opened yelp & Boutique Movers were one of the businesses that showed up so I asked them & several others to give me a quote. Long story short the move out date worked out & Marcel gave me the best rate so I booked it with him. Marcel was very responsive & clear the whole time about the charges. I explained to him how much stuff I had & what had to be done so he quoted me 140$/hr cash with 2 movers & a truck all included. I asked him if there were any hidden charges and he assured me thats all & no hidden fees. So when I was ready to book he told me a deposit worth an hour wages had to be made to secure the move (150$ which went towards the total payment after the move). He accepts Venmo so it took me 10 seconds to do it. super easy! Throughout the whole process Marcel was very disciplined to prepare for the move & the communication was super clear with emails. On the day of the move he texted me when they were close by & once they got to the location the work started right away. All the boxes & furniture were handled with care & loaded to the truck. Both locations had 1 floor of staircase so they had their work cut out for them to go up & down but they worked fast & got it done. Moving is always stressful & not easy but Marcel & his team made it so much easier for us. We trusted them with everything & they got the job done. This was my first time using Marcel's services and I was thoroughly pleased! We used him and his partner to move 87 boxes of papers from an office to our house. His wife who was the administrative and office aide was very informative and responsive. Their services are all inclusive, including packing and boxing the items for $90 an hour, which is really reasonable! They moved everything within 5 hours which was good time considering they had to pack most things in boxes, and they included some boxes as well. They did everything with a smile :) definitely will use them again! Marcel also mentioned that they do trash hauling and recycling as well. :) read more

It was a long haul but Marcel advised me correctly when choosing what size truck we needed and was very accommodating with my husband and I when coming up with a flat rate vs hourly. There were no hidden charges, no gas fee and they worked HARD! Utterly incompetent. Would give them 5 black holes were that possible. Because of a city ordinance at our move in destination regarding traffic access, we required a smaller truck. We connected with Boutique as they offered a 16' option. The move started well enough, and we personally took about a half dozen trips moving smaller items in our SUV, expecting Boutique to take the larger items as specifically requested. We had them pack up the kitchen and load the larger items on their truck. We provided them with a list of all of the larger items to be taken beforehand including several large expensive art pieces that needed to be wrapped and taken by them. They loaded the items into our new place, and I paid their (unexpectedly expensive) rate and thought we were finally finished. When we returned to our previous location to lock up, we discovered to our horror that they left every piece of artwork hanging on the wall (in the unlocked house). In our exhaustion, we neglected to notice the omission. This includes a very expensive large 5' x 4' framed photograph that we had relied on them to move because it would not fit in our Jeep Grand Cherokee. And despite the fact that they were asked to pack up the kitchen, they inexplicably left two drawers of cutlery and cooking utensils behind. These drawers were right next to all the other drawers/cabinets they did load. When confronted with this information, Marcel got angry with me! Citing on the call something to the effect of "What's the big deal? We moved 95% of your stuff!" Gee, maybe because you charged me $1400 (plus a tip I stupidly provided not realizing their incompetence) to move 100% of my stuff?!? I repeated during our call that despite his telling me I should move the remainder of the items myself, the large artwork would not fit in the back of an SUV and we needed him to bring the larger truck the next day. He said he would make good on his mistake and pledged to return the next day. And he did - in an SUV smaller than mine!!! When I told him for the umpteenth time that the 5' x 4' artwork would not fit in his SUV, he became angry again! Because I would not let him "try" to jam a $5k piece of artwork diagonally into his SUV. I had to take another day off of work to rent a cargo van at my additional expense to take the piece myself. And in my exhaustion, I broke another, different piece of large artwork that I was trying to take myself as a result of their incompetence. While I can't blame them directly for my exhausted clumsiness, I shouldn't have had to do it in the first place! Boutique Movers aren't movers. It's a wannabe outfit with a small truck. They were early at the site. Worked with out stopping from 2pm until 10pm. They moved a 10x10 Storage in Santa Rosa. Then unloaded ALL of it in Santa Clara. These men are honest and hard working. They have good customer service skills . I will definitely refer them to my friends and family. The prices are far cheaper than most that I looked at. My moving experience with Marcel was a disaster. I don't give bad reviews lightly (and never have before this) but people need to know what kind of service they may get from this person if they rely on him for anything that isn't very simple. My move was not a complicated task: take all items from a one bedroom apartment in Marin, drop by a 15x10 storage unit in Pinole and collect all items there, and then move everything to a house in Davis, about 1.5 hours away in traffic. It took Marcel and two (non-professional) movers a ridiculous 12 hours to do this. He showed up late and ended up damaging many pieces of furniture. Marcel only owns the mid-sized Sprinter moving van that you see in the photos. Anything that requires more capacity means he'll have to rent a vehicle. Marcel attempted to do this for my move, but could only get a small van from U-haul and then had no backup plan for how to move my things in one trip. The upshot of this was that Marcel had to double back to the storage unit, including sitting in rush hour traffic because his team had such a slow start. I paid $2000 for a move that I've paid other teams around $700 (including tips) for. Here are some lowlights of the day: * Staff had essentially no moving experience, quickly got tired, and didn't wear masks much of the time. My wife and I ended up having to help them. * Instead of removing the drawers from my bedroom chest, wrapping them and then moving them individually, Marcel just wrapped the whole 70+ pound package up and moved it as-is. Result: broken chest. * Same treatment was given to a filing cabinet. The filing cabinet then arrived in my office UPSIDE DOWN, after which I had to tell the workers to put it right side up again. Needless to say all the papers inside were a jumbled mess when I opened it the next day. * Team damaged the walls in the house I moved into. * Marcel forgot several items at my apartment, which I had to pick up myself the next day (Marcel took so long packing up there that I had to leave early to collect the keys for the house I was moving to before the agency's office closed) * He forgot to give my apartment key back, and then didn't know which key it was when I contacted him the next day -- he just showed me every key in his pocket from previous customers and asked me to choose. You can probably rely on Marcel for junk hauling or furniture assembly, or even a very simple move, but please go elsewhere if you need anything more involved. read more

I chose Boutique because they were the cheapest of the reasonably well-reviewed movers. Marcel responded to my many questions promptly, and was very co-operative in the planning of my move. This move was a bit of a doozy, because it was technically two moves at once, consisting of four parts: (1) move me out, (2) move out previous tenant at the place I was moving in, (3) pack and ship the previous tenant's belongings to the other coast, (4) throw out the furniture the previous tenant left behind. Boutique managed all four parts well, and came in at expected budget. One item I was taking a chance with was packing fragile electronics for transcontinental shipping. Marcel obtained boxes and ample bubble-wrap for the tower desktop, laptop, and two monitors in question, and then packed them onsite. This was entirely sufficient for the monitors; the computers sustained some damage but remained functional. I suspect this might be a risk inherent to the shipping method (FedEx) and not a failure on Boutique's part. Overall, if given a chance, I'd use Boutique Moving Services again. read more

These guys were great - I called 2 days before my move (after scheduling a week earlier) and asked if they could bring a bigger truck and another guy, and they said "No problem"! They showed up just a few minutes late (but texted that they were stuck in morning rush hour traffic) packed up everything in the house, loaded it in the truck, drove 100 miles, and unloaded everything to a third floor apartment (and one piece wouldn't fit in the elevator, so they carried it up the stairs). The move took until late into the night, but they cheerfully moved everything in carefully. Great job, Marcel! read more

We just finished using Boutique Moving Services to help us move from our 2 bedroom apartment to our new home. The three movers arrived right on time and were very efficient at moving our boxes and furniture. I was nervous that we didn't have a big enough truck, but they made it work, even when we had to make a extra stop to pick up a big couch. They used some Tetris magic to get everything to fit. Marcel must have fired the dude who used to help him, because I see the reviews are glowing. My experience, from before these reviews, was not so good. Marcel himself was a nice guy. Problem was, he was way TOO nice, and clearly couldn't get his coworker in the game. Coworker was this surly young dude who clearly didn't want to be there, smoked on my stuff, threw my boxes around, and whined about me not being a good host because all the things I apparently had to have at the ready were packed in boxes, as opposed to lain out on a silver platter for him. I think he was hungover, too, because in addition to his trash mood and constant smoke breaks, he was slow af and eventually just told me I needed to move all of the boxes, even though I had included them in the itemized list of things I wanted them to take care of. Most memorable moments: I walk into the living room and find dude muttering to himself, grabbing boxes and CHUCKING them across the room. I ask if he's alright (not what I wanted to say .. I preferred "could you not threw my s*** across the room?" but figured if he could do that to my stuff when I was nearby, what would we do when I was out of earshot?). He informs me that I hadn't "done anything to prepare" because a] dust bunnies keep getting in his face and 2] several of my boxes have no lid. Dude? I wanted to clean up the dust bunnies, but the time I had earmarked for cleaning is spent doing a third of the moving for you. And to the second point? Literally everything I own is in boxes, but some items are too tall to get the lids on. I'd used movers before, and they had moved my large items in boxes with no lids. If that's not acceptable for your company and you need everything taped shut, that's fine! But maybe use your big boy words and t-e-l-l me. Finally get to the new place and dude parks in my bathroom for a good twenty minutes to take a massive dump. Finally exits, closes the door firmly behind him, and gives me crap (pun intended) because I hadn't provided toilet paper or soap, and he had to wash his hands with some Scrubbing Bubbles the landlord had left in the medicine cabinet. Dude, why do your complaints always come in pairs? And did you ever consider the soap and TP are unavailable because they're in a box you can't be bothered to get out of the truck? A box taped over double because you'll hurl it across the room for anything less, I might add... I'm taking everything from this experience and applying it to my next move - buying extra large boxes, closing them tight, possibly getting three movers instead of two or booking extra time so two movers can move the boxes instead of me - so I appreciate the learning experience? I just hope Marcel got some new dude to assist him, and since recent reviews mention quick moves and service with a smile, it sounds like he did. So good on him, and best of luck. read more
