This pizza parlour reminds me of family restaurants from the 80's (and not in a bad way) I'm from the tech mecca San Jose and am accustomed to kids being glued on thier phones, bored, and just...blah. There is a game room here, and has a change machine that dispenses quarters for the little ones. I havent seen arcade machines that take quarters in years! There's air hockey, pinball, and the lovely "claw" machine! This restaurant is clean, well maintained with an oldie but goodie feel. I wish we had a place like this in San Jose. The updated Dave & Busters version of cash cards and happy hour just isn't family friendly. Thank you yelpers, for recommending such a great spot during our family Reno adventure! In over 30 years of eating Boulevard (Shakey's) pizza we have never had a bad pie; until tonight. It was dry, over cooked, and black on the bottom. Someone just wasn't watching the oven properly. I gave 3 stars only because we've never been disappointed before. Maybe we just got spoiled. I probably should have looked in the box before I left, but we've been so accustomed to getting excellent pizza for so many decades. I love Chuck's Boulevard Pizza. It is a little dive pizza joint off Rock Blvd. with an area in the back for the kids an a bar area for the "bigger" kids. Very down to Earth place. It has been a go to for years. We went in last week, brought all the kids and had a great time. The pizza/chicken/rojo combos are fantastic. I have never been disappointed with the food. Not once. Kids love the place, I love it. I am a fan. On a Friday night, you will have a wait for a to go order or if you dine in as well, it is always hoppin on Friday nights. There are small tables, booths and then big long picnic style tables for larger parties. You order and pick up your food at the same window, fountain drinks, salad bar...this is pretty much a self serve place, just be prepared for that. I would say if you like a good little dive type restaurant, you should give Boulevard Pizza a try. read more

Consistent is the word that comes to mind when thinking about Boulevard Pizza. We have been here numerous times and taken out food as well. The crust is to me what makes this the best pizza in town. This place is part of my top 5 pizza places but favorite crust for sure. We love the rojo potatoes as well. Fresh little salad bar and a daily happy hour in the very spacious bar. They were closed for remodeling a few months ago and after this last visit we could not really tell what has changed. Maybe the floor is new? And fresh paint. I have been coming to Boulevard for many years. I went to Sparks High back in the day so it was one of the go-to lunch spots for a long time. I still remember the "two and a coke" deal they had (two slices of pizza and a fountain drink) for five bucks. Although I graduated quite a few years ago I have been to Boulevard a few times since "the good old days" and not a lot has changed. The fact that not much has changed is a good thing. The prices are still great and the food is still really good. They have really cheap lunch specials with a personal pizza and a salad bar for like five dollars or so. The salad bar is pretty good, with a decent selection of toppings. The interior of the place is definitely outdated but doesn't feel dingy like other places I've been. The last time I was in, the girl taking my order was pretty short with me which kind of rubbed me the wrong way but I'm sure there was a reason and I let it go. As I discover more and more great pizza places in Reno, I'll be sure not to forget Boulevard and will most certainly return. read more

I was recommended this place in a Facebook group and I was extremely underwhelmed... Got a meat lovers pizza, an appetizer combination (onion rings, fried zucchini, fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks) an order of fried jalapenos and some of their cheesey garlic bread. In all honesty, the zuccini, jalapenos and the garlic bread were the highlights (and the garlic bread is a piece of texas toast with cheese on it). If you're a crust lover, you won't like this style of pizza. It took quite a long time for the food to come out when we were the only people there. Not sure this is the spot... It's on the thinner side for crust but not too crispy with the options of rojos as a side really makes an oddly great combination. Boulevard pizza used to be Shakeys. Now anyone my age remembers Shakeys. They are like round table but in my opinion much better. Unfortunately Shakeys has gone to the pizza heaven in the sky, except for a couple stores in California. The owners of the Shakeys franchise bought the recipe for the pizza and some of the machines and opened up Boulevard Pizza. The owners could not use the exact pizza sauce so they had it sent out and analyzed for the exact ingredients. The mojos that were so popular with Shakeys customers are available here. My wife and I decided to split a medium pepperoni,mushroom and sausage. We also ordered a side of mild wings. The wings were cooked just right, not to crunchy and not overcooked which makes them dry. The mild sauce is vinegar based with a kick. I am a wimp, these wings were spicy to me ,but very tasty. If you know Shakeys, then you know one of the way they put there signature on the pizza was to put corn meal on the bottom. This helps it from sticking,burning and gives it a funky texture and taste. The pizza was not exceptional, but it was not bad. If we are in the area again, we will stop on in. read more

I've been meaning to get to Boulevard Pizza for at least 2 years now. Many friends on and off of yelp have suggested that they have the best pizza in town. So today we had plans to be in sparks during lunch time and we finally made it in. Lunch special is $2.50 for a mini pizza. Yes, $2,50 for a mini pizza with two toppings. I didn't stutter. My wife and I ordered two lunch specials with salad, one soda, and a 10 piece wings and the total bill was just around $20! They had a Yelp Check in deal so that lowered it even more. I ordered the sausage and pepperoni and my wife ordered the pineapple and pepperoni. Both were delicious perfectly cooked crust and tasty. The salad bar didn't have a huge variety but was still quality. The two things that stood out are the options of greens and the temperature was perfectly set. Goldilocks temp. The price and the pizza will bring us back. The hot level wings were truly hot. Any other time I would have loved them, but today they were too hot because of me. The place reminds me of old godfathers but bigger. Lots of light oak and long tables. For a regular pizza place this really does live up to the bill of best pizza in Reno. read more

If you are already planning on going or want to try a new place what a great way to save some money. I would love to hit at every pizza joint in town. I know it will take a long time, but I like this idea more I think about it. Atmosphere - Wow the first this I noticed was an old clay pigeon hunting game on the wall. Wow that just brought back a bunch of memories. The place is fairly good size and the bar was off by itself. I even played a game of air hockey with my daughter after dinner; I did not let her win. They had a variety of tables including several larger tables that had large picnic style benches, great for big groups and kids. The menu board left of the register does not give much detail on what the specialty pizzas are other than name. They had a lamented colored menu next to register that gave that kind of detailed information. So if there is no line, just skip that big board and go for that hand held menu. Food Appetizer - They do have a small salad bar but none for me today. Main Course - We went with a large 15" half Boulevard Combo and half cheese. They paged us overhead when the pizza was done. The have a huge knife, to cut the pizza, maybe not large enough for that 15" pizza as one section did not have the crust cut. The only thing was wrong with the pizza this night. I love the sausage with that pizza. The sauce was not over powering, and just the right amount under the cheese. I might want to try just a sausage pizza as eating them by themselves of the pizza sheet was yummy. The crust was thinker but still nice and crisp, a nice combination. Dessert - I admit it I ate too much pizza. Service - Very friendly service and no attitude about having the LivingSocial deal. He had no issues handling it that coupon. I have been here before and it was pretty good but not this time. I went a week or so ago and after ordering I watched the mess go on in the kitchen! Most of the staff look like they have been wearing the same outfit for weeks. No one had gloves on and they cut the pizzas at the front counter where you order where the food touched printouts from the register. Talk about gross! This is a long overdue review since this place is by far my favorite pizza spot in town! We always order pizza from here and they never disappoint. No what what we order or how many toppings we chose they always cover the pizza generously. The rojos and wings are by far the best, we get the insane buffalo sauce and its such a flavorful kick if you're into spicy stuff. Service, no matter how slow or busy they are, has always been great. Over the phone they are polite and friendly and when we pick up our food they are super quick. The food has always tasted fresh which is why we continuously order from here. Best crust/sauce combo I've ever had period! Thin, crunchy yet soft at the same time. We ordered the vegetarian with some added toppings and it was nothing short of spectacular. The buffalo wings definitely tasted award winning and the service was excellent as well. Boulevard has been our favorite for pizza and wings for years. This past winter. We ordered our pizza as normal. It was snowing out and took us a while to get home. So upon trying to eat our pizza for dinner. It was lukewarm. So we thought it may just be that, cuz sometimes pizza has to be hot or frig cold. We each ate one piece and just couldn't eat any more. Put it in the frig to try the next day. Went and got another dinner elsewhere. I tried it the next day. Same thing. It was awful. My boyfriend wouldn't even try his. I called the restaurant asking questions. Any changes. Blah, blah blah. Telling them how bad it was. They offered nothing to compensate. So we stayed away for a while. Months actually. Finally decided to get wings today. 2 large orders of the "hot" wings and 2 large orders of zucchini sticks. We asked for more ranch please. The guy with an attitude said we gave you 5. My boyfriend says. Ok. Can I please have more. The kid says no. My boyfriend says ok. Can I by more please. The kid said no. It's not allowed. With 2 orders of large wings. You get 2 ranches and we assumed with 2 orders of zucchini sticks. We should get 2 ranches. They wouldn't even do that. Not understanding why we could not at least buy more ranch. Also our wing are usually about half winglet and half drumetts. My boyfriend eats one. I eat the other. In 2 entire large orders there was 1 drumett. After such service today and the food the last two times. We won't be going back. So disappointed. We really did like this little place. Told so many of my customers about it. Sad. read more
