Fish & Chips
Karl B.

The wait staff was a bit slow to greet me and take my order but the place was busy. The waitress I had was nice and did a pretty good job once my food was ordered. The meal (fish and fries) was decent. Since it was after 6 PM and there isn't much as far as food goes in the immediate area (the nearby BBQ place was closed for the day) this was it and as mentioned it wasn't bad. I got the impression that a lot of the patrons came from the nearby hotels and not just the hotel this restaurant is located in.

After flying into MCI, I found out that my bags were still at home in Vegas, so I ended up at a hotel near the airport. Wanting some real food, I happened upon the Boulevard Grill on Yelp. Located inside the Four Points by Sheraton hotel, it was super convenient, as it was right next door to my hotel. It it kind of like a sports pub, with TV's around the bar and dining room, with spacious seating with tables and booths. A small menu, but a nice variety of appetizers, some sandwiches, 3 dinner offerings, a couple salads, and even two desserts. I got the Chargrilled 12oz Kansas City Strip Steak, served with french fries and a wedge salad. My steak was a 'perfect' medium rare. Kudos to the cook! The wedge salad was a simple iceberg wedge, sprinkled with cheddar cheese shreds & a few sliced grape tomatoes (choice of dressing on the side), and the fries were what I would call beer-battered, but lightly done. A good meal for $21. It is located inside the hotel, just off the lobby. Except for the small signage below the hotel sign, there is nothing eye-catching to know that it is there.

Excellent French Dip

I have had many French Dip Sandwiches over the years but this might be the best. Restaurant was nice and the service at the bar was excellent.

Great little place for a cold beer and bar snacks. I didn't stay for dinner, so I can't review the food. But they do serve their locally brewed Boulevard beers. Great prices on their pours. I recommend the IPA.

Philly steak sandwich with sea salt fries.

The Good: Food was excellent. Philly sandwich and sea salt fries. The bad: Very slow. There were only 3 other tables occupied when I went in. Got a menu and drink quickly. After that I waited 10 minutes before a waitress came to take my order. Another 20 minutes to get my food. Finished eating, wrote this review on my phone and have yet to had my waitress come back. If the service had been better I would have given 5 stars.

Dry Rubbed Pork Ribs with Baked Beans & Coleslaw

Service was pretty chill! I went in super late to get food. So glad they stay open late! Overall, salmon was bomb! The ribs are a 7/10 which is not bad for possibly oven baked ribs? The jalapeño poppers are bomb for sure!

Service was great but quality of the food was very underwhelming. I highly suggest having dinner elsewhere.

Service was good, the food was decent but sticky tables are a turn off. Its a basic hotel restaurant, so for travelers it'll do.

Weak coffee, dried out food and high prices. People staying at the hotel should go out for food if at all possible. The bar is good.

This is not your typical hotel restaurant. The service is good, food is plentiful and it is a rockstar.

Fourth time's the charm... right?…read more I was dragged back to Scott's Kitchen for my fourth visit, and I'll give credit where credit is due: there was finally some actual smoke smell! Progress! I'll also admit that the piece of pulled pork I had was pretty decent. Unfortunately, everything else was pretty much what I expected based on my previous visits. My biggest issue is the price. $18 for three tacos is pretty outrageous, especially when that $18 doesn't include a drink, a side, or anything else. At that price, I expect the BBQ to absolutely knock it out of the park. And that's really my problem with Scott's: I just don't understand the hype. In my opinion, it's not one of the top BBQ places in Kansas City, and at these prices, it needs to be. Here's my BBQ rule: if the BBQ can't stand on its own and be great, then you're a restaurant that serves BBQ--not a great BBQ restaurant. I've now been four times, and I keep hoping I'll finally understand what everyone else seems to see. Still waiting. At this point, I may need to order a fifth time just to make sure I'm not missing something... but my wallet is strongly recommending that I stop the investigation.

The first two tweaks were manageable, but the third change (after KC hosted the World Cup) finally lost me, and I haven't been back since. The current version is two small, lighter-colored crab cakes not as fried as usual , with a very strong cilantro taste that overpowers everything else. If you're a cilantro fan, maybe that's your thing, but for me it completely misses what a crab cake should be. The crab itself should be the star, not the herbs. Hoping they bring back the old recipe, because this used to be a happy hour staple.( mozzarella sticks are still bomb though)

This particular location rebranded and is now called five four restaurant and drafthouse. They remodeled the inside and it's actually quite nice and much more roomier than before. The front of the restaurants is regular seating and the back of the restaurant is the bar area and patio. It's quite nice how they separated it. The Food is good, it's mostly the same food with a few additional items in the menu. But is super slow. We've come to this location about 4 times since moving back to Kansas City and every time, service is super slow. We usually go on a weekday around 4:45-5 pm for dinner. And it almost always takes at least 40 minutes or more for our food to come after ordering. The servers rarely come back to check on us. We always have to flag down whoever we see to get our server to come back for ordering, or getting more dressing, or getting our check. We love coming here because it's close and convenient to our home and the food is good, but might have to come up with another option if service is always like this every time we come.

We waited about 10-15 minutes before I finally had to go to the bar and ask if anyone was going to come see us. After we were seated, we waited another 10-15 minutes before a server came over. To make matters worse, our appetizer arrived before our drinks. We ordered deep-fried pickles, but they were overdone, and the pickles themselves were so thin that it was practically all breading. My cauliflower-crust pizza was also a huge disappointment. The crust was so hard that I couldn't even eat the end pieces. When pizza is in the name of your restaurant, you'd expect the pizza to be one of the highlights! Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The positives? The whiskey flight was good, although I thought it was overpriced. The vanilla Old Fashioned was my favorite drink of the night, and honestly, I probably should have just stuck with that! Our waitress did apologize several times for the slow service, and when I told her about the pizza, she said she would let the kitchen know. I appreciated her acknowledging the issues, but there was no compensation or effort to make things right. The final bill was around $150 for two people, and I left feeling like we didn't get our money's worth. Between the slow service, disappointing food, and overpriced drinks, the overall experience just wasn't worth it. I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, I can't say I'd recommend it based on our experience. For $150, I expect better food, better service, and an overall experience that doesn't leave me wondering why we spent that much in the first place.
