Garage Door experts came to our rescue! It was 2 pm Sunday afternoon and a broomstick had a fight with the garage door. A broomstick had fallen between the garage door tracks and house. As the garage door started to close, the broomstick jammed, and the garage door made three attempts to close. This old chain drive did not have a force sensor, and after the third close attempt, the garage door was sagging diagonally, only partially closed. On the left side, one wheel fell off, as i tried to straighten the garage door and then close it, the right side wheels fell off. The situation was now worse. We called and talked to the owner Joshua, he said when he was done with his current issue, he could stop by in about 2 hours. So I used a 2x4 to prop up the garage so I could move my car out to give more room for the repair. Joshua inspected the door. Provided a cost for the repairs. He said he could get the garage door operational today, not noted some issues that should be addressed in the future. Since the garage door was 19 years old, the wheels were worn, the spring should be a dual spring instead of single, and garage door motor near end of life. We asked for an estimate for a new door and motor for our future replacement. So Joshua went to work right away and corrected some issues with the original install. Reinforcement brackets installed, thicker cables for the springs, and he hammered out the dents from when the door jammed. The final out come was a smoother operating garage door with a few creases.
