Caramel Apple Pie: boozy & tasty!
    Tom V.

In a crowded market and in a crowded industry, Boulevard is certainly right up there for the most recognizable beer brand of Kansas City. Their Rec Hall and brewery tours only serve to cement that status. Make sure you reserve in advance for a brewery tour, should you want to take one, and just know that the tickets get released on Wednesdays. For a basic tour, it might be $10-$15 and there are several other tiers that you can choose from, such as barrel tapping, happy hour on Fridays, and more. Listening to the journey from local beer enthusiasts into a widely-distributed brand is really fascinating and makes it easy to recognize how Boulevard has had such success. I can remember when it was just a couple of selections, and a cold bottle of Boulevard Wheat always hit the spot. On Sundays, the Rec Hall hosts a bingo game and it's a ton of fun. It's free to play and there are always prizes; just know that it can be a rather large game and maybe the acoustics aren't exactly designed to hear all the callouts clearly. But you're there to enjoy the time with friends and family, washing it all back with locally-sourced beer. Boulevard is always tapping something new, such as this visit, which had us tasting their Caramel Apple Pie, a boozy brown ale. You always taste the artisan approach and the beer is always fresh. Stop in to the vintage camper and pony up for some photo strips. It's a great time in a throwback recreational vehicle, harkening to the days of simpler times. The trailer fits perfectly in the Rec Hall, kitschy but stylish, and always a timeless classic, just like Boulevard's OG brews. Cheers!

Boulevard hosted a Bingo Night and it was a great time! The space is set up well for events like these - super casual, fun vibes. The Tailgaters Wrap was fine - nothing special and wouldn't order again. The Tailgaters Pizza was really heavy on the blue cheese - good portions for the price though, I'd recommend ordering a pizza over a sandwich. The Rainbow Sherbert Quirk was sweet and I would order again.

5 stars for the 90 minute Boulevard Brewing Tour. We tried a total of 6 beers on our 90 minute tour, and it takes you into the brewery itself and your tour guides explain the history of Boulevard, what goes into different beers and the different kind of flavors and pairings for each one as well as making the beers. Our tour guides were fun and informative, I definitely learned a lot and you get some really nice views for example the rooftop areas of the brewery. I totally recommend- definitely worth the time and price. Try Tank 7 - it's my personal favorite Boulevard beer.

It wasn't extremely busy. There were at least twenty taps of beers. Flights were available. Wish there was more experimental beers. Food was mediocre. We got white garlic pizza w hot honey. It's all about the experience there. Great for groups. They have tours which we didn't do this time. The shop was full of cool merchandise. Got some single cans to go.

Just went yesterday for Oktoberfiesta and It was a blast! I had the honor of designing the Crawler design for Dia de los Muertos ($5 of all sold go towards Mattie Rhodes Center which is a NonProfit Org in Kc!) -- they were so kind, fun, and super welcoming! I bought one of the meals and it was SOO yummy! I think it was the Pesto Chicken Croissant if im correct - Greta especially treated us so well when filling up our crowlers!! Not only was the vibe in there so warm and welcoming but the crowlers turned out so perfect thanks to them! I would 10000% recommend you go and get a crowler for a limited time only!!

This is a really cool place! It's absolutely humongous! The one bar has more experimental beers, I enjoyed trying stuff that I had never heard of before. Then the other bar has multiple beers and ciders to choose from, I tried a few and every one of them was excellent! Like most breweries it's not open late, But it's definitely a cool place to visit if you're in the area!

This place has gotten better and better over the years. Everyone knows Boulevard and the location is easily accessible, which makes it kind of touristy, but locals spend plenty of time here too. There's a few reasons for that. The size of the place is huge. It's such a cavernous space that one should never worry about finding a place to sit. Obviously, people are going to come for the beer. They have all of the flagships on tap along with test beers and limited releases. They also have the biggest selection of non-beer options compared to any brewery in town. I think the food has gotten so much better than when they first opened. There's a lot of good snacks. I do wish the gift shop had more Duvel merch.

We did the 2 pm tour on a Monday and it was full. Really nice tour and facilities. Would highly recommend. The 2 tour guides were informative and funny. You get to drink their beer through the tour as opposed to only at the end, which was a nice touch. Takes about an hour and then at the end you get 2 tokens for a 5 oz pour of amy of their beers. Not bad for $11! Good way to kill some time.

Food was great! Drinks were tasty too. Service was quick. The tour was an awkward length, but cheap for basically 4 free drinks. Would totally bring people who are visiting KC here!

I was able to take a Boulevard tour many years ago before the new facility was built. I returned last month and was amazed what a beautiful space they have to enjoy drinks with friends. We enjoyed flights before the tour, and the tour tickets are really affordable. The tour was great all of the guides were really knowledgeable. We weren't able to see the bottling that day, but they gave us an extra beer token at the end to make up for it. Next time I would like to try one of their speciality tours when I'm back in KC.

    Bourbon Barrel Quad
    Travis B.

Boulevard Brewing Bourbon Barrel Quad: Boulevard Brewing Co. is located in Kansas City, Missouri. It was initially conceived by founder John McDonald in 1984 during a vacation to Europe where Belgian beers captivated his interest. This led to an old brick building on Southwest Boulevard becoming the brewery's first home and its first keg of beer was born in late 1989. Their Bourbon Barrel Quad (BBQ) was inspired by one of my favorites, The Sixth Glass. The BBQ is an abbey-style quadrupel that is aged in oak barrels (at the renowned Holladay Distillery) for up to three years. It has an absurdly high abv of 12.2% and IBU of 26. Pouring it revealed an opaque dirty copper color with a thin head. The aroma and taste had hints of vanilla and cherries. For a beer, it's sweet and very alcohol forward. I'm by no means a teetotaler, but I'm much less of a beer enthusiast than I was in my college days. That being said, I was really impressed by this brew and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. A group of friends and I visited the Boulevard Brewery on a bachelorette party weekend, and when we arrived they weren't able to accommodate a large party like ours on any of the current brewery tours (our fault, not theirs!) but we did get to sit in the tasting and rec room and try a lot of the Boulevard brews. I did a little flight board of four of the Boulevard beers, and the tasting sizes were pretty large! I had the 80 Acre, Tank 7, the Pale Ale, and then just the normal Boulevard Wheat because I love it and wanted a final palate cleanser. -80 Acre was most similar to the normal Boulevard Wheat, but with a little extra hoppiness thrown in. Yum. -The Tank 7 was lighter but still had a dry, hoppy finish - would try again. -The Boulevard Pale Ale was a little too hoppy for me, but as Pale Ales go, I would try this one again as it wasn't as ear-wax flavored as other Pale Ales I've tried. After four of those pretty-large flight cups (purse in photo for comparison LOL) I was definitely feeling it. But luckily the tasting room is also a rec room where they have some fun games you can do with your party. We were sad we didn't do the tour, but it was still a fun time in the tasting room (I will definitely be back for the official tour and make sure to pre-book next time!

When we arrived, it was a little quiet, so we sat at the bar. The two bartenders working were welcoming. One of them asked if we were there to eat, handed us menus, and then let us know what wasn't in stock. It was a little weird that they were out of chicken quarters, pasta salad (or was it potato?), burgers (maybe that's a testament to their popularity), and bacon... Thankfully, the mac & cheese was available, so the mission wasn't a fail. The plus was that it came with a side of fries, and not just any-- they were seasoned sidewinder fries, for those of you who are fans of thicker potatoes. I had the Italian po-boy, which I really enjoyed. I thought they constructed it well, and the spicy relish wasn't too much heat if you're worried about that. It was definitely the right amount of food, too. I was able to clean the plate and not regret the last bite. At this point, they've been open for 8 months, so I think they've worked out the kinks, but we also showed up on a Wednesday night, so service was great and attentive. It might be different on weekends, but I'd come back to try more things on the food menu.

Felt like I was in a nice hotel restaurant. High ceilings, excellent lighting, Austrian decor strewn about, white tablecloth, all good. Service was pretty casual, though, which is just what I like. Real people having real conversations with you. The food was excellent. I had a special that I can't remember exactly what it was. It was a pork shank served osso bucco, on top of an excellent mashed potato. A wonderful tomato-based sauce was served on top, and this fall-off-the-bone shank was delicious and indulgent and just what I needed on this cold winter night. I also got to try a schnitzel with sides of spaetzle and warm red cabbage. Textbook. Crispy, juicy, delicious schnitzel. Creamy, herby spaetzel. And a pop of acid from the cabbage. This is one of the best meals on planet Earth, and this place did it right. No notes. For dessert, we chose a scrumptious little tartlet from their glass cabinet at the front of the restaurant. It was some sort of berry, and it came with a perfect little quenelle of cream on the side and a mint leaf. Great crust, great filling, just a great little way to end this meal. Overall, if you are interested in the menu at all, you will love it here. And if you're not interested in the menu, you gotta get out of the house more and come here anyway. What a perfect way to end my trip to Kansas City. I hope I get to come back one day.
