I'll keep it simple... they could have screwed me over and they didn't. They're now my bike shop. While out running errands I started hearing the kind of metal on metal grinding that makes a rider who loves their bike feel actual physical pain. I was in agony. Boulevard Bikes was the nearest bike shop that I was certain of location. I'd never been before and frankly, but for the breakdown, I likely would've never entered the shop. I guess I assumed they catered to the high end fixie crowd or the scenesters next door at Lula conspicuously reading d-bag magazines like Wallpaper or played out beat literature all while trying hard not to be caught checking out who might be checking them out. As an old, thick necked, carnivore on a whitewall tired beach cruiser I thought I'd get that exasperated expression the uber-cool give to the uncool the moment I walked in. I was very, very wrong. They couldn't have been any nicer to me. They looked at my bike right away, identified the problem and told me they'd have it done in about an hour. I was shocked. I figured I'd be walking home and coming back later in the week. And not only was the problem fixed perfectly and in well under the time estimated, they actually charged me less than they originally quoted. I was dumbfounded. An honest business has my patronage for life. They're now my bike shop.

Is this store buy used bikes?

Hello, Sorry we do not buy used bikes. The few we sell are donated/abandoned/traded-in. Play-It-Again Sports is our usual suggestion.

I'm more or less clueless and Kevin was really helpful and took the time to listen to what I needed.

Always reliable and fair pricing. Convenient location on Broadway. I mean if you get a flat on LSD…read moreit's relatively easy to walk over to Broadway since it runs parallel and throw your bike on a bus. For my single speed and racing bikes always on time with good service and fair pricing. Nice selection and if you don't see it they have no problem ordering direct. Quality small local business. Check them out, Spring is coming.

In response to the (mostly) positive reviews to this place, I trusted them to provide quality…read moreservice. My rating is due to bike service issues, not personnel. The workers were what you'd expect as far as being nice - but the mechanics are amateur at best. After my first disappointment with their routine "maintenance service", I wanted to give them another shot with my brakes. After all, I yearn to have a good relationship with a local bike shop. And sadly, it's a bigger disappointment than my first visit. I asked for them to bleed both brakes. I received a call saying they're "fine" and suggested NOT bleeding brakes; but the pads and rotors were caked in oil and other residue (I cleaned them both 3 days ago). But I figured you gotta trust the pros, right? Wrong. I figured they'd replace the pads, clean the rotors and call it a day. After all, I hadn't sanded the pads this past time and they are getting old (10 months). Nope, just VERY poorly sanded the existing brake pads, cleaned the rotor below my normal standard and was charged nearly $50. For that. To sand 4 little brake pads and (presumably) apply some rubbing alcohol to the rotors. $50. Look at the picture of the brake pads after they serviced them. Lmao. I could have done that for $2 at home since all I need is a little more rough sand paper. Ha. And no, it didn't help my brakes at all. They produced very little friction, we're extremely loud and there was even a clicking noise from my drivetrain on my ride home I haven't even diagnosed yet. I just had to write this review. Ha. Should have just told them to screw off and bleed the damn brakes. To me, it's simple. This is a classic big city bike shop that is money hungry. $50 for that is LAUGHABLE. I could take this to my hometown bike shop and for that money they'd do a bleed, drivetrain clean, fork pressurization, frame clean, etc. And after all that, I still need my brakes bled. They didn't do it. Ha. EDIT: Attached is the video of my new wheel sound! I think it's just the dork disk, but still.
