    Full rack of ribs

A group of four of us came for lunch and we ordered two full racks of ribs and an order of brisket. The ribs were pretty good and juicy for the most part. There were areas that were dried out a little. The brisket was sliced so thin it looked like deli meat. Some pieces were good but some were dry and tough to eat. We sat in the back room which was not an even floor. The whole back area, which is an expansion of the original place seems to be on an incline. Service was slow as well. We wait almost half hour for our food to come out.

    Hand-Chopped salad

I was excited about having a BBQ place close to home, but my enthusiasm quickly faded after I started opening the take-out packages from BLVD BBQ. We ordered the Sampler platter which included pulled pork, 1/3 rack of ribs, ¼ Chicken, 2 sides and 2 kinds of their homemade sauce (which they forgot to include). We opted for the fresh cut fries and their hand chopped salad. After the 35 minute wait for take-out BBQ in an almost empty restaurant, we collected our food hopping it was worth the wait. The pulled pork was watery and tasteless and the ribs were also bland with almost no char markings on them. Both meats tasted more like they had been boiled than BBQ'd. The chicken piece was pretty good and had a very mild smoke flavor. BBQ meats are supposed to stand on their own without the need for slathering of sauces, but maybe the sauces would have helped. The sides were equally as lackluster. The "hand-chopped" salad consisted of about 1 romaine leaf cut up with a few toppings. The fresh cut fries were both undercooked and overcooked. I have eaten at many BBQ joints across the country and have found some very good ones around Central PA, but Blvd BBQ is a miss on too many levels.

It was ok. BBQ sauce was really good. Brisket wasn't what I am used to. It didn't have much flavor without sauce. Baked beans seemed like something you would get out of a can. Bar room was nice and seemed like a good place to watch a game. Service for drinks or paying the bill was slow. I wouldn't say I won't go back (since there aren't many good choices in lewistown) I just don't think I will make a special trip there. I would try it for yourself and you decide. Maybe they were short staffed during my stop.

    This was my lunch.

Wife, daughter and myself first had three games in the alley, which went by at good time for three games. But the real treat was when some of the customers exited this little eatery as we bowled, we couldn't help but smell the food being served just behind us on the furthest end of the alleys. When we came inside, Michelle had greeted us pleasantly, and asked if I needed a chair moved as I was in a wheelchair, but the tables were perfect height and had no trouble at all getting a place to eat. ^^ A few other people were dotted around different seats as multiple TVs played various sports, as we started looking on the menus of what was making our mouths water. My daughter ordered the Nashville Hot Shrimp, Wife had the chilli, and decided to get a small speciality pizza, Ham with fig sauce ... ?... I decided to get a bowl of the creame of crab soup and sweet tea. Food took a small while to make, but when it came out, it was AMAZING. The soup was in a wide styled bowl with crackers, and no lie. It was perfect. Then my wife had started on her chilli, and she said it was exactly how her mom used to make it from North Carolina, it was THAT Good. Daughter had started on her hot shrimp and was happily bouncing in her seat as she loved the heat and the taste. Then when me and wife got done with the bowls of OMG Goodness, then she offered me a piece of her pizza, and I tell you, I NEVER Had such an outstanding combination on a pizza before as I had here. It was a white flat bread pizza, and the ham was perfect with crisp edges, but the best part was the sweet fig sauce. It was perfectly balanced with the salty meat and the sweet drizzled sauce on top. Michelle came by and asked how we were doing, and she just smiled as we told her how good the food was. She had let us know the menu was changing, and thanked us for letting her know what we liked, hopefully they will keep our choices on those menus, as they will be choices we will definitely order again, the next time we head there for bowling. So please, when you get food there at Alley Oops, tell Michelle how good your choices they are, and see when they change the menu, they keep the choices on. I couldn't recommend this food eatery place highly enough, as seeing how excellent the food is, and Michelle's pleasant personality made the day for us. We WILL be back again... ^^ Cheers and God Bless... Deaf Gryphon ^^

But the real star? The wings. Absolutely outstanding, crispy, flavorful, and done right. If I lived nearby, I'd be eating these on the regular.
