Took my daughter here on a whim, she loved it, and we've continued to go back to the point that I just to the Up Rope training class and signed my daughter up for a membership. The staff is extremely inviting and helpful. Sasha was a fantastic and enthusiastic instructor for the Up rope class. It's a great facility with great people! read more

I took part in Lucy's Whip It Good class. It was a great class and I learned a lot more than I had expected. The purpose of the class is to improve lead climbing: indoor and outdoor. Lucy is extremely knowledgeable and was able to address specific concerns and shortcomings that individual participants had in an easy to understand manner. It was a two day class and was 3 hours each day. This class helped with lead climbing but also with belaying, route reading, mindfulness, communication, projecting, practice techniques, and much more. Overall, the class was definitely worth it and I would take another class or private instruction with Lucy because there is so much that can be learned from her. read more

I had a terrible experience rock climbing at another rock climbing facility and was about to give up on it all together. My family has passes here and asked me to come with them and try it out at Boulderdash SFV. I am so glad I did because I had the best time ever! I was properly explained the safety precautions to take, the correct way to climb, how my shoes should feel, how my harness should fit, etc. When I came to climb for my first time at another rock climbing gym, they pretty much said 'have at it, have fun!' and I was off. Although there are mats and harnesses etc, it can be dangerous to go out there and not know what you're doing or how to properly put on your equipment. I felt so safe at this gym and I really thought that the staff really took care of me to make sure I had a safe and fun time. This gym is not only HUGE, it has something for all skill levels. They have walls for children, and great staff members that stay with the kids and help them climb. Something I really liked is that they clearly label the difficulty of each climb and my sister (who has a pass and goes often) says that they change the routes frequently so you're always doing something different. I can't wait to come and climb with my family again. Unfortunately, there isn't a Boulderdash around my house. Come to Long Beach! read more

We took a belay class with Jackie and it was awesome! She gave thoughtful but concise direction and we had a blast

This is a great climbing gym. The staff are friendly and helpful. The grips are changed every couple of weeks so you have new challenges. There is plenty of free parking. If you sign up ahead of time you can climb with a belayer, or you and your friend can get certified to belay each other. read more

My husband and I recently took the belaying class since our daughter loves climbing and the classes don't always fit our schedule. Joey was a great teacher. He made it fun and had such positive energy. Can't wait to go back to get certified. read more

My friend and I decided to take a beginner class and we were lucky enough to have Adrian as our instructor. He is patient, encouraging, and extremely knowledgeable. The entire staff from when we were greeted, checked in, and helped with our harnesses and shoes to the actual class was an amazing experience. It seems like everyone there really enjoyed their job and such fantastic customer service is a breath of fresh air compared to other businesses. Everyone is friendly and personable. They even asked with a smile how we liked the class after we were done. I can't wait to go back. Thanks, Adrian and staff for a five-star experience. read more

This was our first time at Boulderdash SFV. My husband and I came on a Sunday and had a reservation for a private belay instruction for 30 minutes. We got so lucky with Adrian, our instructor. He was amazing- patient, knowledgable, nice and made the experience really awesome! We'll definitely recommend this place to our friends and Adrian really made it stand out with the best customer service and care. Thank you!!! read more

My brother and I took our kids for a class with John and we all had the best time! The kids are ages 7,8,10 and 11 and John was so great with all of them even though their skill and fear levels are so different. He was able to suggest more challenging routes for the older kids and was very encouraging with the younger kids when they got scared and wanted to quit. Our only suggestion is to bring summer camps back! If my son could go to camp with instructors like John he would be the happiest kid in the world! read more

I've never done any climbing before. Came in for a lesson as a complete noob. Jackie is a fantastic teacher. She's knowledgeable and engaging and was able to emphasize the seriousness of safety while still being super fun and welcoming to new people. I definitely want to keep going back. The equipment all looks organized and well maintained and everyone there was being courteous to each other and having a great time. This is a good place. read more

Awesome indoor rock climbing gym, bouldering and all. It's challenging and a lot of fun. It's a little hard hard to find though. I've been passing it for years on my way to my gym and never noticed it. You will like the instructors; they remind me of point break surfer dude guys. Very cool and laid back. read more

I like Boulderdash SFV. The staff are always friendly and sweet. The community here are also nice and welcoming. They have their own parking lot. They also have a variety of sections where you can climb. Each course has its own unique challenge. There's levels of intensity and difficulty for each course. They are all labeled so you can climb at your own pace. read more

First time climber so did a class for a date night. Really fun! Our teacher, John, was awesome. Definitely will come back!

Would not recommend here if you or anyone in your group is rusty or new to climbing. Do not expect the ability to give anyone in your group guidance with tying-in to climb and belay on-site prior to them taking the safety test. I'm not sure why the staff feel practicing out of the building with a shoe-string (as we were encouraged to do) as opposed to practicing with actual test equipment will result in a safer climbing experience, but it's not the experience I've had at any other gym where I've trained dozens of friends how to safely climb and belay in order to pass a safety test all in a single visit. 2 stars instead of 1 because while the staff had an attitude about their opinion that refusing to test our party was more than justified, they weren't outright rude and gave us a full refund once they informed us they wouldn't even consider testing our party. This really bummed us out today as we were hoping to introduce a friend to top rope climbing and get back into it ourselves after covid. read more

This place is awesome! Our instructor Jackie was really patient and informative. Would definitely recommend going here for rock climbing!

Went for the first time yesterday and took the Up Rope belay class with Jackie. She was clear, instructive, kind and funny. She definitely made sure we knew our safety checks, knots, terms, etc. I got a little intimidated as I climbed higher but she gave encouraging comments and tips. I feel more confident with belaying now. I will probably come back to take the belay test and join the gym. Definitely recommend the class! read more

All the instructors have been excellent and I always feel they want me to succeed as much as me. I bought a 10 Punch Card at Christmas 2019 to give to my son as a present. He was not into climbing anymore and did not want to use it. So I went back to Boulderdash Northridge to return the card and get a refund. I was told by the desk person that Boulderdash did not give refunds on punch cards even though it was unused and wouldn't be used. He said that was the policy of the company set by management. I asked him to give me the name of the manager and he refused. He gave me an email address and told me to send an email. He could have cared less that I had given the company $145 for a card that wouldn't be used and suggested that I give it as a gift to someone or try to sell it. "Hey, I don't make the rules....Just following the rules," he said. I said it would have been good if that was company policy to put a sign on the counter or wall that stated, "No Refunds" on punch cards so that people were aware before they purchased one. He said something like, "Yah, we should probably do that." But he couldn't have cared less. So, just letting everyone know what the policy of Boulderdash is and that they're happy to take your money and keep it whether or not you use, or can use what you paid for. Try staying in business in any other area of retail with that kind of policy. I won't recommend this place to anyone. read more
