I chose Marcus again. When I arrived, I was greeted by the manager. Marcus was finishing up with another customer. I requested specific desires for hair length and neck shaving. He checked with me several times to verify his work. He applied several eucalyptus scented towels to soften my beard and my neck before cutting/shaving. I noted the aftershave balm was thick with a vanilla scent. So I got a tube of Layrite deluxe Aftershave Balm for $22. The Express Cut was $35 & the Express Beard was $15. I tipped $12. read more

I am the type of person to not get a hair cut for a while. Usually I go about a year to get a cut. Mostly because I have never been able to find someone at a good price that listens to you and takes the time to make sure it's what you want I had a cut with Gerald here. I started out late to my appointment. I called at my appointment time and they told me no worries. I arrived a few minutes late and Gerald was very friendly and took some time to talk about what I wanted. He showed me an easier and better way to keep my beard manageable. I am 30 years old and learned how to trim my beard today. will for sure be coming back here next time I need a cut. Even the atmosphere in the barbershop is unparalleled, laid back enough to not feel pressured for anything but super professional at the same time! This company should be embarrassed that they sent me out with this and even more embarrassed that they charged me for it! I showed them a reference photo too. Jake is an amazing barber who always takes so much time and care to ensure my hair cut is exactly how I want it. They're also super patient with me and help me decide on different styles and I always have a great conversation with them. I tend to get a fade with a 2 1/2 guard and trim/clean up on the the top. I've been going to Jake for a while now, and I really love the shop as well. It's always clean, the rest of the barbers are friendly, and it's just over all a great atmosphere. I've been getting fades for 10 years now and of all the barbers I've had, Jake is definitely the top one. If you're looking for a LGBTQIA+ shop that takes time to listen and cares, this is your place! Once when I came in, Jake was even wearing a mask and said some of their clients prefer it when they do. When Keith moved to a less convenient Floyd's, I tried three other barber shops closer to my house. No one was as good as Keith, so I made the 30min commute to continue getting my hair cut by Keith. So this is my 2nd time back here, and the owner Keith ended up cutting my hair because apparently the last barber who cut my hair (who I originally booked to cut my hair today) left the barbershop without any notice at all. Keith simply said "I hope he's still alive". It was the most farfetched thing I had heard but since Keith was the owner, I figured I would get a professional top notched haircut so I proceeded with the appointment...Boy was I wrong!! Of all the haircuts I've ever gotten throughout my entire life, I've NEVER had a barber step away for approximately 10 minutes to "train another barber" and cut another customer's hair. I was there around 12:30pm during my lunch hour and it was extremely busy then too. Not once did my barber Keith (who also happens to be the owner) give me a heads up that he would be training another barber (which also makes you wonder, why is he even hiring unqualified/inexperienced barbers?). Why on earth would he make an appointment with a customer AND train another barber at the same time? He stepped away for a minute or two repeatedly throughout the haircut to give pointers to the other barber, but him stepping away for 10 whole minutes was completely unacceptable. When he came back, I spoke up and told him how unusual it was to cut two different customers' hair at the same time and that I'm on my lunch break from work. His very first response was "I had to train Gerald". He was completely unapologetic and rude about my concerns. When I asked him if I'd have to pay the full fare for the haircut, explaining how time is money, this is my lunch break, and a customer should always have the full attention of a barber....he said yeah I'll give you a "slight" discount. As he wrapped up the haircut, he continued to step away to greet guests and answer the phone for several more minutes. Couldn't any of his other 4 barbers that were in the shop had done this? So when the haircut was done, he only downgraded my haircut to the "express" cut (which is about a 5% discount). When I told him how unprofessional it was for him to be the only employee to train a new barber for 10-15 mins, greet new customers, AND answer calls AT the customers expense, he said "Okay. Do you want to leave a tip?". I was like are you serious? Hell no. Not a single apology still. Any level headed professional would have gave me that haircut on the house or at least took 50% off. A 30 min haircut ended up being nearly an hour and a half! I'm never returning here again. I am posting this review and picture, because I would be doing a disservice to the community by not sharing how messed up of a service I got from the OWNER. I received a free haircut from a training barber named Gerald. Both him and the master barber were kind individuals, but it seemed like Gerald was not prepared to actually give haircuts to people. I wasn't aware of the amount of training Gerald had in hair, but after the haircut he told me he did not go to school to cut hair or learn much before working there with nothing to do in cutting hair. Diego gave me a cut that compliments my aging scalp, and has already gotten compliments. My scalp has developed so many whirls (odd growth cowlicky patterns) that I thought I was "done for." I've also lost hair over the years so my hair isn't as thick as it used to be, which has been a struggle for me. Let me just tell you that Diego cut my hair perfectly, even without a pre wash. Im a first time client. The average person doesn't understand how tough that is to accomplish. Took a shower, washed my hair, and it got even better. Diego is a gem. I've gotten compliments literally an hour after i got the cut!! All the above takes real talent. Boulder Barbers is a great place, and fortunate to have Diego as a stylist.
