I came to Lori with my cosplay costume. The issue was that the cape loops were falling apart and…read morethe buttons had either fallen off or were going to soon. I had already visited two tailors who had said that they would not be able to do the work required. I had a rather tight timeline, but Lori completed the cape loops and buttons in one week. The buttons and loops are durable. I was clear that I wanted them to last and that they were covered when all the parts are worn on the costume. The cape lasted the whole weekend with no issues.

I came to ABL After with a cocktail dress to be hemmed (this was a rush because I was leaving on…read morevacation just over a week later on July 11, 2025) a sundress needing a new zipper and 3 pencil skirts that needed taken in at the waist. Her website was very pretty and professional but there seemed go be only one pic of her actual work that was a lady in a wedding type dress standing in front of a kitchen stove. The rest were generic alterations style pics. I chose her because I thought it would be nice to support a private business. A decision I regret because overall, while Lori does nice work, her prices are very steep and customer service is so deeply lacking. I came to her home which also served as her business and I found myself undressing to put on the dress and skirts for measurements in the kitchen where the entry door was. Fortunately I'm not overtly modest, but I was uncomfortable with no free standing folding screen to stand behind to change (She did not have a downstairs restroom either-I had to use hers before I left and it was her personal restroom upstairs and down the hall). There was a lot of awkward silence rather than customer interaction and I felt like I had to generate conversation to break it up or she would have said nothing while she measured. We agreed that I would pay her for the vacation dress, she could get it done by the day before I left and the rest could wait until after I came back. She then told me it would cost $150 for the hem. I was now out of time and had no choice but to go through with the work because she would not give me a price until she saw the dress and what hem it would need. I was also not told ahead of time it was cash only (Her website did not indicate this either) so I had to run to a bank to get her cash to pay her. I never heard anything and I called Mon July 7th before we left for vacation on the 11th and she stated "oh hi, its done, its been done" and I asked her why she didn't let me know and I could have picked it up much sooner in case of any adj needed. Her response was "Well, I couldn't find your number so I couldn't call." I gave it to her again. I came that evening after work, again undressing in the kitchen to try on the dress. Her hemming work was very nice and I did leave happy with my dress. I went on vacation in July, my dress looked great; all was well. Fast Forward to September. I realized I had forgotten about my skirts and wondered why she never called me about them. I called her to ask about it and she stated "I lost your number but I didn't do any of it because I forgot to tell you I need to take in the skirts at two side instead of just one" (Mind you she already gave me the prices and I had my copy of the receipt) I asked her how much more it would be. She was saying "OK Let me find my price list...hmmm I cant find it. Hold on...I just cant find it right now; let me call you back" She never did so I called her back two days later. She stated "Oh I'm sorry I lost your number (Although I just gave it to her for the 2nd time) that's why I never called you. I'm sorry but they are done for you now" I was shocked and asked "Why did you do that, you never even told me the updated price." She stated "I called you more than once; 3 times in fact" I responded "The last time you told me you lost my number for the 2nd time and I never had any missed call or voicemail from her and asked her to verify the number she called. She just continued to say "Well I did call you but I cant talk about this with you anymore right now because I have eggs boiling" (This was 4pm during business hours!) When I continued to look at my calendar and give a Saturday date/time, she restated "I just cant talk to you about this my eggs are boiling and my cords in the wall (whatever that meant), so are coming sat?" and I agreed I would and she ended the call abruptly. This to me was so unprofessional. I felt absolutely stuck and I had to pay her the new price of $130 because the work was already done and I was afraid she would recklessly rip out her work if I refused to pay or try to keep my clothes. I felt completely swindled into paying for completed work I did not approve and brushed off for asking about it. Finally when I picked up my skirts and dress that needed the zipper replaced and handed her the $130 in cash she says "Oh I need to tell you that I never replaced your zipper" I just looked at her thinking I just paid you for work including a new zipper in the dress. She said "Well it was working just fine so I took it out and checked it and found some threads binding it up and took them off and put the zipper back in" Once again no phone call about all this. So I just took my garments and left and I will never go back to her again. Customer service is EVERYTHING. Her utter lack of it and unethical behavior can cost her business because social media and word of mouth is also EVERYTHING.
