For 10 years I refused to go to Bottles. The reason, the previous owner. But what an Incredible Change with the new owners. The difference in the service is palpable It is a different much improved atmosphere. The rib eye to share is an excellent choice and the wines are reasonable. What a restaurant!!! Great food with all different types of dishes. I've dined there many of times. I always start with the large salad with strawberries. That's for the table. Then we get veal lollipops, scallops, octopus beef carpaccio, shrimp and finish off with the steak platter. All excellent!! Can't forget about visiting the wall of wine. Pick your own bottle of wine and enjoy. The vibe is very cool and upscale. Make sure you inquire about the gratuity. Inquire if they still take part out for the house. We ordered a plate that was basically fried chicken (empanado). Unfortunately, was raw inside. Mistakes can happen and we were understanding at first. But what shocked us was how it was handled. Came to this fine food establishment in the San Patricio Zone (Guaynabo) in Puerto Rico. An extensive wine list (you can pick your own wine) and a fantastically good selection with incredible portions makes this a memorable occasion. Highlights of the dishes we ordered were the "presa iberica" (Iberian pork loin) with garlic Parmesan fries and the Thai-style pork belly with "panapen" (breadfruit) tostones. Another excellent and filling meal here at Bottles. This time we came for lunch. It had been years I'd had lunch here. Their sandwiches are excellent. This time I tried the roast beef sandwich. It came with chips and coleslaw. Very good and very meaty. I also had the French onion soup. I will say this is the best French onion soup I've ever had. Had a work trip in Puerto Rico. Although we went to dinner multiple nights, this was my favorite dinner. Had over 10 people at the table. Service was amazing. We did order many bottles of wine over 100/$150...(courtesy of the CEO!) The food literally was to die for. We ordered obviously a ton of food for our big party, look at the pictures below. My absolute favorite (which is unusual) was the gnocchi. OMG I swear it had some addictive substance on it. Loved Puerto Rico overall and Bottles made it amazing even more. The service has gone down considerably during the last couple of years. The food portions are meant to share based on size, yet now they require you about 1 plate per person and a lot of the food is wasted. Also the server is constantly informing you how much time is left of you time to eat which doesn't allow you to enjoy the meal or the wine. Last time we were a group of 8 for 8pm, the waitress looked upset most of the time and she at 10pm informed us our time was up. The restaurant closes at 11pm and there were many tables empty. Plus we had over a $1000 bill based on consumption. If we are consuming and you have no more people to fill the tables at that time, I believe the pressing need for us to leave was unnecessary. It didn't used to be this way many years back and I don't think it's a place I will continue visiting. read more

Not going back. This place has gone downhill. The meat was overcooked, and the staff were rude sassy and dismissive. Their tipping and billing system is a mess and makes the entire experience uncomfortable. On top of an already-included 9% tip, servers push for an extra 20%, claiming it's necessary for them to earn a fair wage. To make matters worse, if your server's shift ends while you're still eating, they rush to close out your bill and transfer you to a new tab with another waiter. Poor service, poor system, and overall not worth the hassle. Really disappointed. read more

Bottles has really solid food and ridiculously (almost comically) large portions. As the name implies, they also have an extensive wine selection. Everything that I ate, I enjoyed. However, I shared one appetizer, one main and one dessert with my friend and the two of us couldn't finish anything. We took home some of the appetizer, main and dessert. The service was friendly and our waitress was able to help recommend what to order. It was a leisurely, long, dinner but they do have a time limit for tables. Dear lord when I come back to San Juan, I am coming here. Came with friends while visiting PR to celebrate a birthday, the portions are HUGE and there is NOTHING that is NOT good. I don't have pics because we just really dug into the food. AND there is a ton of wine options (hence bottles) and you can't go wrong. The steak, the seafood, the carpaccio, the wine, the cheese, the waiter, the staff, everything was delicious and amazing. I don't know why its described as being a sandwich shop or Latin American restaurant... It's more steak/seafood and and much more high end than a sandwich shop - not cheap but the portions are big and it's definitely worth the price point - it's a great experience. Waiters are rude as hell. The tip is added automatically to the bill so there is no motivation to do a good job. They Are eager to bring wine but water refills are practically non existent. Food was spectacular, I love the Cartucho, fish was light and flaky; lobster risotto, come on, if it was bad I'd tell you, one of my favorites; the NY was perfectly cooked and balanced everything else out well. Didn't have any appetizers this time but dessert...I only eat the Baked Alaskan. I don't know if it's a good baked Alaskan but it's an awesome tasting dessert. Some key points, well, really one. If you like it order it, you'll like it. Well okay, two, bring friends, unless your 300 lbs you ain't eating any of this solo. The meal above fed 7 of us, and we left food! Yes! The best meat and family serving BUT... something strange when you are going to pay the bill. They are charging strange taxes so when you ask, they kind of brush you over with some shenanigans. If you are interested in drinking the wine you must purchase the wine by the bottle. Most of my friends stuck with beer to avoid having left over wine. If you want water they only have Fiji and they charge by the bottle. If you must have water be mindful because each bottle is $5.00. We were a group of five last night. I have many food allergies due to autoimmune disease, but I don't require extreme modifications. Our server was surly when asked for crudités to accompany the hummus. He brought cooked vegetables. It took three rounds of instruction to request olive oil and seasonings, but no butter, for the preparation of my salmon. I was told that simple steamed rice was not available, nor were any other type of potatoes but mashed (with cream and butter) was available. We all ordered coffee, mine black, with sugar. He brought all coffees with two packets of Splenda. When asked for real sugar, he went to the station and returned with two packets of sugar. TWO. For a table of five. This is not the first time I have experienced this at Bottles. When I requested the mussels, steamed in white wine ONLY (no butter), I was initially told "No, we cannot do that." When pressed, the response was "I will have to ask the chef if we can do that." Really? The food is undoubtedly excellent, and served in abundance. The wine selection is also excellent. This review reflects my personal experiences, so if you have no dietary restrictions or allergies, you will always be completely satisfied with the food. Servers seem to be the wild card. I've had better, happier and more accommodating service from the staff and kitchen at local restaurants happy to have the business and referrals. read more

Best restaurant on the island. Food and wine are amazing and the service is great as well. Don't expect your dinner to be cheap though. They don't usually take reservations on Friday/Saturday night, so make sure to go early. My favorites are the foie, filet mignon and beef carpaccio. Their fish is always good as well. And even if you are full, you can't miss their key lime pie or their baked alaska, they are to die for!! read more

I went here for a customer lunch recently. I have been to this location a few times before. However when I was there in the past it was for dinner. I was a little disappointed in lunch because it took almost 2 hours for us to get our food and get out of the door. For lunch that just seemed a little bit long. I will tell you however on a positive note this place is amazing. The food always comes out good and the portions are enough to feed an army. I have never complained one time about the quality of the food or the atmosphere. The only thing that seems to take time is the service. When you're coming out for dinner you want to enjoy your time with your friends and family or whomever you are having dinner with. It is not an issue just spent 2 to 3 hours enjoying appetizers entrée and cocktails. If you're heading out for lunch however and have a limited timeframe I would not recommend stopping in here. It just seems to take too long to get food out of the kitchen. read more
