The place was spotless and we were lucky enough to have our own bathroom. Location was nice and not too far away from downtown and quiet enough to get a good night sleep. The beds!! Are very comfortable and we loved the complimentary breakfast in the morning. One of the saddest parts of the trip was needing to leave this B&B. Totally made this vacation worthwhile and enjoyable. We plan to return and stay here at our next visit to Ireland.

Beautiful B&B owned by 3 brothers who bought and refurbished the place in memory of their late mother (Marie) hence the name, Marie's Bed & Breakfast! All three brothers are on the property and very attentive and helpful! Beautiful B&B with lovely rooms and bathroom! Also, the whole place is so clean!! We got the twin bed room with the garden view and private bathroom/shower. Very relaxing and friendly environment. Literally, can't think of anything that I would want or need. We mentioned that we were planning on taking a cab into central dublin downtown for tours and they coordinated and called a taxi/cab for us for every day!! The rooms and bathroom was cleaned every day when we left for our excursions. And it's always so nice and welcoming to be back after a long day. Clean shower, and comfortable beds are what makes it even more memorable to a great vacation. If you have questions they will answer it! Need a good game plan for a trip in town? Done! Or a side trip to a nice area where is not a tourist trap? Done! Definitely reccomend you stay here. No regrets! Highly highly recommend to family and friends!

We were able to check in early, which was great considering we arrived at 10 AM and I was very jet-lagged! The kids went out and I got to sleep for six hours! Nice and clean, very comfortable beds, breakfast was great, staff was very nice, secure building, location was perfect and close to bus, restaurants, O'Connell Street, everything really. I would stay here again when visiting Dublin. Thank you!

Yay! My companion…read moreand I definitely enjoyed our stay here during our holiday. We flew in and out of Dublin so our stays here bookended the trip. Both times, we arrived a bit too early to check in so we were allowed to leave our luggage with the staff while we explored the city. The first room we stayed in was pretty spacious and clean, though homely (country-style decor) and the bathrooms were decent. There was a sitting area with a fireplace (nice touch) as well as a "library" with wifi and desks. The hotel itself is deceptively big. During our second stay, we were sent down a hallway to an elevator and ended up in rooms that seemed more chain-hotel-ish (and less homely country-style than our first room). The staff members were so nice and generous. There was one guy who gave us a bunch of utensils and plates for us to use for the takeout fish & chips we brought home for dinner one night. It's in a good location (near the Spire) and you can pretty much walk everywhere. We even walked all the way to the Guinness Storehouse. (Though, to be fair, you can pretty much walk the entire city, as it is not that big).

Blocks away there was a Farmer's Market; so we indulged in the local cheeses and breads while we waited for our room. They have a couple options for booking: a single room, twin or double. We opted for the double and we were so happy we did. For a little extra cash, we were booked in the largest room they had. It was a loft with a kitchenette, private WC, and an extra room that we used for a closet. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/zOJ4nYz-xzKTHdsD6RPK2Q?select=4fzkSudutkuvKIzilX0sHw It was very private and did not hear any other patrons while detoxing from the day. This place is close to everything. We walked the entire trip (except for our out-of-town excursions). The complimentary breakfasts were fantastic. It was a typical Irish breakfast: teas, coffees, meats, lamb sausage fried in poached eggs, and breads. As for the noise level at night: it's close to many pubs, being in Dublin, so around 2am every morning we could hear every pub around. So much singing and laughter made us curious until we finally decided to wake up and join the fun!

Dated hotel with threadbare carpet that is well past its prime. This is my 5th trip to Dublin, my…read morefirst time staying in this hotel. I've stayed in B&B's and large chain hotels in Dublin in the past. This is my first stay in a Dublin independent. The photos of the rooms and facilities are old and misleading. Although the staff are welcoming and friendly that is negated by their lack of action and attention. When I arrived in my room I found it much smaller than the "spacious" rooms described on their site and descriptions on booking sites. The bathroom was dirty and run-down. I could deal with the cracking paint, but the thick multi-shaded glob of soap scum in the shower soap dish and hair on the floor of the shower were repulsive. I wasn't impressed by the nearly empty bottle of Head and Shoulders left by the hotel in place of the single hotel branded shampoos seen in their photos on-line. To add injury to insult I asked that the shower be cleaned while my daughter and I went out, but when I returned no action had been taken. The TV in my room was a CRT that lost its connection shortly after I turned it on. The window in my room is broken, not the glass, but the lock and hinges. It has been screwed in place leaving a large gap letting in the wind and noise. Speaking of noise, the window faces an alley and car park. There are also large HVAC units that are droning on loudly. I have been listening to glass bottles being dumped into skips all night accompanied by shouting and the conversations of smokers congressing in the alley. There is no help from the window dressings as there are only thin drapes with no backing or curtains behind them. The 1st and 2nd floors reek of cigarette smoke. (Btw, it's 2014...) The carpets in the common areas and halls are worn and threadbare. I suggest finding another place to stay. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more money to stay in a larger chain hotel.

Probably the best deal you're going to find in Dublin. This B&B has a prime location right near the…read moreriver on a street and is right on a street with other B&B locations. The things you sacrifice for the cheap price are 1) space and 2) private bathroom (you do get your own shower). For me, that was no problem as I'm a light packer and like to save money. If that is a problem - you'd probably be better off staying in a proper hotel. The showers are hot (stayed in February), there's free Wi-Fi, they serve you a hot and made to order full irish breakfast from 8-10AM (sausage, egg, ham, baked beans). Staff is friendly and helpful both with room accommodations and helping you find your way around Dublin. The walls don't block out sound and you can hear neighbors pretty well. It was never a problem for me, as I'm a heavy sleeper, but if you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend bringing a noise maker. The room only had two available plugs, but you can ask for a power strip at the main desk and they'll give you one. There's not a lot of space here - just enough room to get to your bed and out the door, and small stairways and hallways. However for the cheaper price, it is well worth it. So if you don't mind the lack of space and want a cheaper option, I'd do this. Otherwise - look for a proper hotel and avoid the B&B strip altogether. A final note - this is on a street with a bunch of other B&Bs so it'd be worth checking prices of the other B&Bs as they do change frequently.

It's not a new shiny property, and not someplace I'd want to hang out all day (small quarters, dull lighting, tiny tv, no amenities it seemed). But the rooms are clean, we had wifi, breakfast, it's walking distance to O'Connell St, and the airport airlink bus dropped us off right in front. FYI - There was no hair dryer or iron in the room, and breakfast was just ok. I think the best part of this place however, was the staff. Excluding the night shift guy, everyone went above and beyond expectation. They stored our bags when we arrived at 7am, let us use the washroom to clean up (before checking in). Gave us pointers on sight seeing, restaurants, etc. And when we had a snafu with our rental car, we asked to book a taxi to get to a wedding over an hour away. Without asking, the woman at the front desk, looked up (significantly) cheaper alternative for us (bus route and she mapped out how to get to our next hotel!). I am so grateful for her assistance (especially in getting to the wedding). Thank you so much for such a pleasant stay!

Note: all my recent vacation in Ireland Yelp reviews will have the same 1st paragraph preamble, for…read morejust the review itself skip to the 2nd paragraph. On a whirlwind 2 week vacation to Ireland, the girlfriend & I tried to see & experience absolutely as much of this incredible land as we could. We did not accomplish every last activity we wished we could have on our rather ambitious itinerary. Nonetheless, we did discover a land of numerous stunning & magical wonders. We did see a land of unending natural beauty. We did learn of a land with a monumentally long history of trials, tragedies & triumphs. We did get to meet many kind, humorous, warm & generous people. Our vacation to Ireland was just 2 weeks, but that was time enough to know this is a land easy to love & a land to be sorely missed. Fresh off the plane, the girlfriend & I took the Airlink all the way to the Central Bus Station which is a conveniently short walk to the Maple Hotel. Being the 1st of 5 hotels in our Ireland trip, I really wanted to love this place but knew that any sort of grand hotel anywhere remotely near Temple Bar for cheap wasn't completely realistic. It was with lowered expectations that we checked into our room. The Maple Hotel met some of those very much lowered expectations, fell short in some ways & exceeded expectations in one aspect. Fortunately, the girlfriend & I both packed light (just 1 carry-on each) as there is no elevator in the Maple Hotel. Getting to any room means climbing stairs & hauling your stuff up those stairs. The room was seriously tiny. The room had a full size bed & barely enough space around it for 1 person to walk. The room had its own bathroom, but this was tiny too. As small as all of it was, this was fine with us & manageable. What wasn't so fine was the smell. The room smelled like the walls were impregnated with old cigarette smoke & then freshly painted over. It was nice that the room looked like it had a fresh coat of paint, but the smell meant keeping the window open to air it out. Otherwise, the room was fairly clean. The girlfriend did, however, get a couple series of bug bites while sleeping here which made me think bedbugs were a possibility. A few other notes concerning the room itself: the toilet was temperamental & would not completely flush reliably, no washcloth was provided (apparently not uncommon, only 1 of the 5 hotels on this trip had washcloths) & the phone in the room does not call out at all. Regarding some hotel services: there is a payphone in the lobby but it devours money without connecting calls, there is no private car park (though their website seems to imply there is), there is free wifi but its range is mostly limited to the lobby area, there's a small pub in the hotel behind the front desk & a breakfast (served 8-10am downstairs below the front desk) is included with the room every morning. The included breakfast was easily the highlight. One of the choices available was the "Irish breakfast" (1 egg, 2 sausage, 2 rashers, pudding*, beans, toast, coffee, OJ). I had this every morning of our stay & it was a great way to start the day. The 3 best things the Maple Hotel has going for it are: its location not far from Temple Bar, a decent breakfast included with the room fare & the relatively cheap room rate. Everything else about these accomodations leaves a little or a lot to be desired. With the advantage of hindsight (& having stayed at our last of 5 hotels in Ireland, also in Dublin near Temple Bar), I now know that there are better, cheaper & more centrally located accomodations to be had. On any future visit to Dublin, I will definitely try to stay at our 5th hotel, which was also in Dublin & where we stayed our last night in Ireland before heading home. While I will always remember my 1st days in Ireland fondly, the fact is that there are better hotels for the money in Dublin around Temple Bar. *there's a white & a black pudding served throughout Ireland, this one was closer to the white, but more like a grilled liverwurst

It is so close to the street that you might get some street noise. The breakfast was just OK, though the filter coffee was good and they made very good toast. Overall the staff was nice, professional and accomodating.
