I would highly recommend Boston Tutoring Center (BTC), not merely because of their thorough…read morepreparation for standardized tests, but also for their tailored academic enhancement programs and school consultation. BTC provides parents the benchmarks, diagnostic tools, and customized programs to strengthen children's learning capability. We greatly appreciate Mrs. Yount's insightful knowledge and advice about the current landscape of high school applications. BTC's programs addressed my child's academic weaknesses and brought out his strengths. After an initial assessment, BTC offered us two types of help. The first part was weekly one-on-one tutoring, which focused on academic work, training my child to form good habits of learning as well as test-taking. The second part of the BTC program was a highly individualized consultation. Mrs. Yount had a comprehensive review with my child about many aspects of high school applications and patiently worked with him to improve his presentations. She provided advice to us, helping to narrow down the best-fit high schools. She also kindly accommodated our schedule changes. BTC has gone beyond helping my child to improve test-taking skills. It has delivered the best result we could have hoped for. Moreover, BTC helped my child to gain confidence and equipped him with the skills that he will need later for college applications. Among many tutoring programs, BTC was the best choice for my child.

Anne Yount responded by saying she fired me as a client, then she went on to personally attack me. (Anne worked with my son when he was in 8th or 9th grade. Several months after I wrote the review, I received the following message in response: Just a Note 9/9/2015 For your review of: Boston Tutoring Center Is your son fu/cking autistic you fu/cking bi/tch Do yourself a favor. Don't get yourself involved with Anne Yount and Boston Tutoring. My son ended up working with Walter Warneck of Top Dog Tutoring in Needham. Walter is absolutely outstanding!

Beyond teaching the material, he shared practical strategies to approach problems and succeed on test day. I was able to improve my SAT score from 1370 to 1540, something I couldn't have imagined before working with him. His teaching style is engaging, patient, and always tailored to your needs. If you're looking for an SAT tutor who genuinely cares about your success, Chris is the one to choose!   From mom: As a mom of six, I have used many tutors, and I cannot recommend Chris at Summit enough. When my son was paired with Chris, Chris immediately contacted me to explain his approach. We had a wonderful, unrushed conversation. Chris clearly communicated with me after each meeting. My son said that Chris not only helped him drastically improve his score from a 1370 to a 1540 but also helped him understand and appreciate math. Chris is incredibly competent but also incredibly kind. My son shared that Chris was always cheerful and avoided criticism but challenged him appropriately. My son said that he was one of the best teachers that he had had. Margaret who was our contact person at Summit was incredibly helpful and supportive. I cannot praise this company enough! My son will be attending Harvard in the fall. Summit helped make his dream a reality. We will be using Summit for our next five children. Thank you Margaret and Chris!

I called to try to get a refund or at least convert the sunken cost to one on one tutoring, but they said no. The most they would do was give me a $300 credit, but I would have to pay $200 to use it. So, I started researching different…read moreACT test prep services and was impressed by the timely and thoughtful communications I received from Sexton Test Prep & Tutoring. Sarah Sexton sent us a mock ACT for my son to take which Sarah scored to determine a baseline - a disappointing 21. I worked with Sarah and my son to choose among several tutors (great bios available online) and decided on Kate Kelly. My son met 1:1 with Kate at the Wellesley library once a week for 12 weeks, and Kate was very flexible if my son had to reschedule. She kept me in the loop about how his strengths and challenges were progressing. When all was said and done, my son achieved a 28 composite ACT score, a vast 7-point improvement. This improved score resulted in him being accepted into some of his favorite colleges that had previously been out of reach. We'll soon know where he's headed in the Fall, and I'm definitely going to use Sexton Test Prep for my sophomore-aged son when he's ready. This not insignificant investment in 1:1 tutoring is worth every penny. In fact, the improved ACT score automatically qualified my son for a $24K scholarship at one school and $40K in another. Not a bad return on the investment!

My daughter is a HS Junior with already high ACT scores, and everyone knows how hard it can be to nudge your scores up once you're in a certain range. But Ben Sexton was able to identify exactly where her skills were lacking and help her raise her math score by several points, even though we had previously tried other test prep tutors who weren't successful. Ben really came at things from a strategic perspective my daughter could relate to, and explained his plan and thinking before hand. He also tutors in person and came directly to our house, which was very convenient, and proved flexible working with my daughter's schedule as well. She was able to approach the next testing date with understanding and confidence and managed to improve her score. We were very pleased with Sexton Tutoring and plan to use them again.

I can honestly say without him, i don't know how I would of finished taking both courses. The lecturers and the TAs didn't communicate the material nearly as clearly and in a shorter time span as he did. He is clear and patient, and wants you to truly learn the material, not just get through a test or assignment. It is clear that he knows his material. Moreover he's very flexible with tutoring time and will take as much time and sessions needed until you understand the material. Being an athlete, my free is greatly limited, but he still found time to make sessions flexible to my schedule to his greatest ability. With my experience with him, if there were more teachers as clear and knowledgable as him, then class would be more clear and interesting and easier to follow. But in real-life situations, tutors such as Solomon are there to bridge the gap and help you succeed. I know I'll be using Quantum Tutoring in the future, especially as I get ready for MCATs, not to mention exams and tests.

Manhattan Prep is an amazing prep course for the GRE. I took an in person class with John Cho and…read morehave nothing but positive things to say about him and the course overall. John was extremely knowledgeable about the test, content, study strategies, tips/tricks etc. He was able to tailor the class to suit the needs of different students, and was always available for after class questions. In my first practice test I got a 161V and 156Q, so was fairly nervous about boosting my quant score to my target of 165. John not only helped me on my quant weak spots, but also was a positive voice throughout my studies and kept me optimistic. Studying for a big test can be pretty isolating - especially if you have no friends studying for something at the same time (..i.e. this was my experience) so it was incredibly helpful to have a class & instructor that kept me mentally motivated. The Manhattan materials (books, practice tests, online resources, 5lb book (!)) are also top notch and better than those I've seen from other prep courses. I ended up getting a 164V/166Q/5.5 & I'm not convinced I could have done it without this class. I maybe could have eventually, but you don't want to spend forever studying for a test when you (presumably) have apps to focus on. Take Manhattan with John! It's 110% worth it - will make your studying smarter, faster, and less stressful.

John was really supportive in a genuine way. He helped me reframe my thinking around my studies and adopt a new approach that worked better. I got V164/Q168 (this hugely exceeded my Q164 goal).
