Thomas was narrating on the microphone & describing their behavior. He was excited at the calf's tail breaching and also noted that its pectoral fin was slapping the surface, too. During our first observation, Thomas said that just like us humans, the baby whales, or calves, seem to have a lot more energy than the adults. The joy in his voice as he narrated throughout our tour was evidence of how much he loved them, and his job. James was amazing also, & looked at some of my phone photos with me as I showed him a tail shot. The entire crew gave all of us tourists a perfect experience!!

I would like to highlight our tour guide and narrator, Lindsay who is a naturalist and someone whose passion, expertise and knowledge was palpable. She is articulate and personable combining just the right amount of enthusiasm and humor throughout the trip. You could feel not only her energy but her authentic respect and devotion to educating others about these giants of the ocean. I feel blessed everyday that I get to live near the ocean here in Massachusetts and to know these amazing mammals live and breathe in our waters. The return trip from Provincetown on 7/18/26 was unacceptable and genuinely unsafe. I've spent…read moreyears in the boating industry, and what I witnessed was not a matter of "rough seas" -- it was a matter of poor judgment and improper vessel handling. The captain maintained a speed completely inappropriate for the sea state, causing violent hull slamming for nearly the entire crossing. Passengers were being thrown around, hanging onto tables just to stay upright. Several people were vomiting. This went on for an hour. At multiple points, the impact force was strong enough that injuries could easily have occurred and may have. With roughly 100 passengers aboard, this was not just uncomfortable -- it was dangerous. They better hope lawsuits do not come their way. The weather and wave conditions were fully predictable well before departure. Any competent operator would have known to reduce speed, adjust heading, or delay the trip. Instead, the captain chose to plow through steep chop at high speed, ignoring basic seamanship principles and putting everyone at unnecessary risk. To make matters worse, the crew announcer praised the captain afterward and asked for tips, while many passengers were shaken and demanding refunds. The disconnect between the crew's messaging and the reality of the situation was astonishing. This was not an unavoidable rough ride -- it was the result of reckless decision‑making. The captain's handling of the vessel was unacceptable, and the company should be held accountable for allowing a trip to be run in such a manner. Captain Johns needs to re-evaluate their quality control and training protocols.

Had an amazing experience on this 3-4 hour long boat ride (we left around 1:30 pm and returned…read morearound 5pm) seeing 1 finback whale, three humpback whales, and a huge pod of Atlantic white sided dolphins! Info for potential whale watchers: there is free parking in Gloucester on Sundays, and we had pretty good experience with bringing our own snacks, but you can buy snacks and beers on the boat as well. The boat itself as two bathrooms and a lower and upper deck. They usually go out to Stellwagen bank / Jeffrey's ledge depending on where they believe the whales may be (10 to 30 miles out). The cape Ann whale watch and Boston harbor also goes to the same locations and I believe they communicate. We were pretty close to cape Ann whale watch and they seemed to be a lot more crowded than our boat. For practically the entire trip, the marine biologist was telling us facts and guiding us in how to look at the wildlife. He even came out at the end to chat with us one on one. He was quite knowledgeable and even knew the whales by name! Apparently, it's common to see dolphins, finback, minke, and humpback whales during this season (June to October). Humpbacks deliver the exciting plunge into the water with the lifted tail. We were even able to see a cool feeding lunge from a whale named patches. We saw a lot of birds as well! We luckily were able to go to Jeffries ledge this time which is only about 10 miles out. On other trips this summer they have been going to Stellwagen bank which is 30 miles out. I highly recommend 7 seas if you want to have an enjoyable trip onto the ocean and relaxing encounter with amazing marine mammals!! I believe they will refund you if you don't see any whales, but it's quite likely to see whales as they are extremely knowledgeable on finding the whales.

My mom and I went on a morning whale watch with 7 Seas when we spent a long weekend in Gloucester a…read moreweek or so ago. It was my third whale watch (but my first on the East Coast) but my mom's first, and we both had a great time. 7 Seas has been in business since 1983, and I can see why. The staff were friendly, the boat was great (lots of indoor and outdoor space, as well as a bar for food, snacks, and drinks), and the naturalist was incredible (she narrated our tour). It was a rough day out on the water (tons of wind) when we went out on our watch, but the staff didn't give up and they changed up our route and made sure we saw some whales (although it's important to keep in mind that you are not guaranteed a whale sighting if you do a tour). Once we found a pair on humpbacks, the boat followed them for a while! Then they took us to another pair and we followed them for a while! It was amazing to see these whales in the wild. We got some incredible photographs, and I was gasping repeatedly at the whales. Just an incredible experience.

Turns out it doesn't when you're surrounded by that many of them. We saw more whales than I could count, and I learned far more than I'll ever be able to remember. Our guide, Tina, has over 30 years of experience, and it shows. She wasn't just rattling off facts from a script. She was genuinely passionate, engaging, and had a way of making every sighting feel like the most exciting one of the day. I talked with her for a minute after the tour, and she was every bit as genuine off the microphone as she was on it. You could tell she sincerely appreciated everyone who came out. The trip ran a little over three hours, and I never once found myself checking the time. Between the whales, the scenery, and Tina's commentary, the whole experience kept my attention from beginning to end. One thing I wasn't expecting was the gift shop. Usually places like this charge "you're already here" prices, but everything was surprisingly reasonable, and there was a good variety for kids and adults alike. If you're anywhere near Gloucester and even remotely considering a whale watch, stop considering it and just book the trip. It's one of those experiences that's every bit as good the second time around.

Been on a handful of cruises in the area, and this is the first one that fired a cannon, so that was a fun experience.

They were closed, but he noted the website, and we checked it out. Not long after they opened for the season, he went to talk to Melissa at the ticket booth, who told him all about it. We were in! I booked us on a sunset cruise for June 24. We kept watching the weather during the day, and there were showers and downpours even as we ate dinner at Sea Level Oyster Bar. Fortune favored us, however, as the skies cleared just before the 5:00 cruise returned. We boarded with about ten other people, and we set off from the dock right on schedule. The Captain and crew told us about the Fame of Salem and the boatyard where she was built. The views were amazing, and once we got away from the dock, the crew asked for volunteers to help hoist sails! Hubby and I each helped, and the feel of the wind in my hair, as we started to pick up speed was awesome! Another couple on board got engaged during the cannon fire ceremony. It was sooo cool to be a part of that moment with them. Drinks and snacks are available on board, and paying was easy (we used Venmo.) The sunset views were breathtaking. There were great views around the harbor of homes and other boats. We will definitely do this again and are looking into doing a private charter for the end of the season!

The vessel can really move fast on the way to the Stellwagen Bank marine sanctuary & the whales. The boat uses water jet propulsion "like a giant jet ski" to avoid harming marine life. The captain skilfully steered the vessel with great consideration for the whales. I thought we'd see one or two whales. But we saw many more. The captain announced where the passengers could see the whales as they surfaced. To give passengers a chance to see the whales, the captain gently turned the boat. Ben, an onboard naturalist, came by and offered information about the whales. He had a set of photos of whale flukes and explained how they identify individual whales. Markings are like fingerprints. Fascinating. Highly recommended this whale watching cruise.

The guys were great with my son and made us both feel welcome. They're both great with kids! I booked 3 hours (more than enough time) and we departed from Scituate at 4pm. In no time, he caught 2 big bluefish, and we ended up with 6. He also had a fun time hauling in lobster pots and driving the boat. We took two lobsters home for dinner, along with some fish. The ride back was awesome as well. I told him, "this is the type of day you'll always remember". I know I will, and that this is going to be something we do for years with Labrador. She was incredibly knowledgeable, full of energy, and genuinely passionate about whales and nature. You could tell this is more than just a job for her. She even had a whale tattoo on her leg, which made her love for these incredible animals even more authentic. We learned so much from her, and it was refreshing to have a guide so excited to share her knowledge. She kept pointing out the whales as they surfaced, and her timing was perfect, just when you thought the action had moved on, she would spot another humpback breaching or lifting its tail before diving back down. If you can, try to get on one of Sophie's tours. I've been on whale watching tours before, but I have never seen anything like this. Our four kids were beyond excited as we saw what felt like 40 to 60 humpback whales. The boat ride itself was fantastic, with the salty spray in the air and everyone crowding the rails every time a whale came up close. It was one of the most incredible wildlife experiences we have ever had. At first, I thought the tour was a little pricey, but as my son said, "Dad, this was worth every dollar. You should have paid more." He was right. We happily tipped Sophie and the crew on our way out because they absolutely earned it. If you are visiting Provincetown, do not miss this experience.
