I had vacationed in Cape Cod and had a few days to spend in Boston before returning home. My last full morning was spent with Brush Hill on a trip to Cambridge, Lexington and Concord. I give three stars because my indifference is in no part due to any false advertisement or guide incompetence (he told us to refer to him as Richard if we were leaving a less than satisfactory review) as Richard did as he was instructed. However, I felt this tour was a waste of time and money. The incentive is there if you're elderly or can't navigate around foreign cities but paying near $60 to listen to a man drive around and make witty comments was not what I envisioned. However, Richard was accommodating and allowed us to disembark in Lexington outside the battle greens and again near the spot Paul Revere was captured on his midnight ride. We also stopped at Minute Men National Park where The Old Manse and Old North Bridge sit (Bostonians like to add the word 'Old' to all their landmarks). Moral of the story? Do not expect anything more than transportation for two stops. I repeat do not. If you'd like to learn about Cambridge, Concord or Lexington THIS IS NOT THE TOUR FOR YOU. This is an American Revolution tour and by tour I mean bus that spits Wikipedia notes at you that any elementary student would know. this is what I wrote to brush hill about their drivers due to my experience, and no one wrote back Hi I drive home on 95 south about 10 pm a lot of nights and multiple nights I have seen a Brush Hill bus go by me at a speed of at least 80 miles an hour. Also the bus weaves in and out of traffic. Last night (5/17/13) this a Brush hill bus twice almost hit me. I was in the middle lane and the bus was passing me on the left, all of a sudden the bus started changing lanes and I was right beside it. So, I moved to the right lane. Next thing I know it started to move into my lane again. Luckily I was able to get to the brake down lane to avoid this bus. I am concerned over the driving ability of your drivers, and I would appreciate some feed back on this matter. Again this is not the first time I have seen your bus driving inappropriately read more

I recently booked a Wrentham Village bus trip for my family. There were several major issues over the course of dealing with this company (from making the reservation to getting picked up) that I felt warranted a cautionary note to all those thinking of using Brush Hill - the experience I had was bad enough to prompt me to write my very first Yelp review! First, the customary email confirmation (or ANY confirmation) never arrived after I completed Brush Hill's online reservation form. I was naturally anxious as the reservation was for the next day. Multiple attempts to call the Boston office did not get through and their Randolph office told me to just "try calling Boston later". Not even an attempt to help a worried customer. So much for customer service. I noted however that the credit card charge was processed, and was assured that our reservation was in order. Arriving at 9:15am for our 9:20 pick up from the Fairmont Copley, we were horrified to be told that the van had left without us earlier! We rushed over to the main office at Park Plaza in a cab to resolve the issue, but were chastised for missing the 9:10am pickup (either a mistake or blatant lie by the desk agent since the website *explicitly* said 9:20am!), and that we had to provide a printed confirmation (although we received no such thing). Not even a word of apology or commiseration. We finally managed to talk our way onto the bus, but the experience had ruined our day. Please consider other options if you are thinking of visiting Wrentham. I am certain that the service that you would receive will far exceed our experience with Brush Hill Tours. read more

Tour left more than 45 minutes late for no good reason. The poor bus driver had to drive AND be the tour guide at the same time. Not a very safe operating procedure!? The poor guy must have been an avid smoker, as he hacked and coughed through the tour. When we did stop along the tour we learned many interesting facts by wandering around. SIT ON THE RIGHT SID if you want photos, as we sat on the left and most things were on the other side of the bus. :( read more

Booked the Boston in One Day Sightseeing Tour. We departed almost an hour late due to traffic delaying our driver. After that little hiccup, we had an excellent day. Paul was our driver and tour guide. He was knowledgeable and personable. We visited sites we would have never seen if we were on our own. There were 6 opportunities to get off the bus and walk historic sites. Interesting, informative and enjoyable! Other than the late start, the only other quibble was the mushy bus sound system making Paul a little difficult to understand. But, I felt the tour was well worth a day's time. read more

My husband and I took the Lexington bus tour on our visit to Boston. I have lived in Boston and visited several times and this was my husbands first trip. We purchased the tour as part of our Go Boston Card. Our driver was Frankie and he was fantastic!! I thought I knew Boston until this tour. It was fascinating and Frankie knew everything! I learned so much and my husband was in awe. Everyone that visits must take this tour. It would have been nice to stop a few other places but it was already a 9am - 5pm tour not that I minded. read more

I took several full-day bus tours with Brush Hill-Gray Line of Boston and give high marks. The Company (Debbie is the main office staff) is very organized & efficient and helpful. The drivers were all very capable and safe even driving for so long and in some bad traffic & rain to deal with. The buses were comfy too. The first tour was the Plimoth Plantation one guided & driven by Susan, who was great. She was friendly and a pleasure to chat with towards the end after most of the people were dropped off. She made the little girl who told her a joke feel special by having her tell the whole bus too. Plimoth Plantation was interesting to visit though we must have been towards the end of the season since there were only 2 Indians in the village-one unfriendly-resentful-? & one who brought up politics-no thanks! There were only 4 Pilgrim colonists who were supposed to be doing tasks of the period but just sat near their homes. They were fun to talk to & learn from. The gift shops are great-neat stuff and friendly staff. The town of Plymouth is so cute and fun shops & eateries-esp. Woods-good $ & fast service (a recommendation from guide Susan ) The next tour we took was the Fall Foliage one driven & guided by Brian who was very good at letting us know what was happening and very experienced at finding the few trees that had changed colors. Unfortunately it was too early for the peak colors so not like the calendar photos I had hoped for-disappointing. Brian was considerate of our desires to get photos and was helpful. I don't know how much we paid for the lunch at the Woodbound Inn (included in tour) in New Hampshire, but I'd rather have been on our own and saved $ and found something better-not good variety -disappointing, but cute Inn. I see there is a new Fall Foliage tour of the White Mtns area where you stop in a town and get your own time for lunch & shopping-much better!It was neat to be in NH but no good souvenir shops (only farm stand). At the drop offs, Brian expressed his frustration that the first group to get off didn't leave a tip. I agree that is pretty bad, but a bit unprofessional to announce to the whole bus-something you think but shouldn't say out loud. I think he probably regrets that too and we gave a generous well-deserved tip. (He perhaps should have talked less on the tour too to give us quiet to enjoy the scenery). The next tour was the Coastal one led by Paul and it went into Maine-pretty cool! Unfortunately the Nubble Lighthouse had scaffolding-bad for photos-but was in a nice setting. Visiting the cute town of Kennebunkport with time on our own was a delight! Then we took the tour of Salem-Witch City with Bob as our guide. He was very kind and personable and spoke of his life and even gave us his cell ph. # in case we needed help. He was very humble and didn't even have a tip basket but we did give a generous well-deserved tip. He was maybe too nice though since he went out of his way to drop off people at unlisted hotels and deliver a forgetful tourist's phone at the end which made the other riders get back considerably later to our hotels. I believe he also skipped a stop on the tour to give us more time in Salem. There was much to see in Salem so it was god to be on our own and we saw many shops and the outside of museums but didn't pay to enter them. read more

I recommend this tour company to anyone who wants to see to New England's foliage because the tour guide/driver was cheerful and a nice guy. He explained everything in a nice and clear tone. He did a wonderful job. The tour departed and arrived on time. (The bus as brand new.) read more

This was a great tour! The guide was awesome with lots of info and humor. The bus was not bad and they gave us a great day. We did the 2/3 tour so it was all day. Only thing we were unhappy with was we were waiting in the bus for 35 minutes and he tour started 40 minutes late because the PA microphone in the bus was broken and needed to be replaced. However they did make it up with a great day! read more

We took a tour yesterday to the fall foliage in New Hampshire. Our bus driver was named Mark he was the best driver we ever saw. He could move that bus around like it was a tiny Volkswagen. He was quite entertaining. The leaves were not as vibrant as we had hoped but that was not Marks fault. We had an enjoyable time. We loved being with the people we met. The bus was clean and in tiptop shape. We had a great time and would highly recommend it. read more

I took the Boston "Total Experience Tour." Francis was our bus driver and tour guide. He was born and raised in Boston. He was friendly and knowledgeable of the history in this area. The tour started in a part of Boston, then we went to Lexington to stop for about 25 minutes. This is where you can see Captain Parker's statue. Then we stopped in Concord for 25 minutes to be able to walk the Old North Bridge. After that we took a brief stop where Paul Revere was captured. Francis also noted and slowed down so we could see a few historically famous homes. Then we headed to Cambridge to tour Harvard Square for an hour and a half. This is also when we had time to eat lunch. Francis told us which local food joints to try out. Then we stopped to briefly see the USS Constitution. Our last leg of the tour, we circled Fenway Park, see the harbor, Long Wharf, and other parts of Boston we did not see in the first leg of the tour. This is the best way to tour the history that happened in Boston. read more

I don't normally write reviews but our experience with Brush Hill's Total Experience Tour #3 was abysmal. Three reasons: 1 - the bus's microphone either didn't work at all or hissed at a screech. When asked, the driver said the "biggest problem with these busses is the microphone", the bus is a rental & he couldn't do anything to fix it. 2 - the trip itinerary wasn't as stated. When we brought it up to the driver, he could have cared less. He suggested we call "management". 3 - I called Brush Hill Tours citing 1 & 2 above, asking for our money back or to trade for another tour. I was "brushed" off by 3 individuals. Maybe that's why it's called Brush Hill. read more

I took bus 11361 to Foxwood casino on 2/11/12. The return trip was terrible. There is a strong odor of exhaust on that bus. It was so bad that some passengers opted to take a later bus that they had to pay for. I left the bus with a headache and upset stomach. read more

I see Bush Hill Transportation does not have a good reputation. I wish I had read these reviews before I did any business with them. My story is...me and my daughter thought we pre reserved a seat to go to fox-woods casino. We waited for the bus at the desinated stop and the bus never showed. I called and the Representative told me the bus was cancelled. They never called to let us know about the cancellation plus there were other people waiting also. We thought our plans were ruined but then we looked up Greyhounds schedules and to our luck was able to find a bus leaving a couple of hours later. I will never use this service again for anything. Their customer service is no good and they are unreliable. Greyhound have just gained a frequent rider and Bush hill just lost one. read more
