We recently purchased a house, which had ugly pine treads going to the second floor. It was the…read morefirst thing anyone saw, when entering the front door, plus two raised transitions in the kitchen area. (Probably had vinyl flooring at one time.) John's crew had to reconstruct the entire stairway. They put in oak treads, new risers, bullnose and trim. We were very pleased in the way they removed the tripping hazards by laying in oak board that concealed the difference in the floor heights on either side. Tripping hazards gone!!! We can't say they were the least or most expensive. We know quality comes with a price tag. If we wanted cheap we would have carpeted the stairs, not a look we wanted. So we were willing to pay and view it as an investment in our property; well worth it. To finish the job, the floors were buffed and sealed. When Tao first came by for a free estimate, he had great suggestions to make the space look larger and more open. Tao stood out for how knowledgeable he was. First, he was clearly knowledgeable. Based on photos alone, he corrected me that the wood was not mahogany (as our home inspector said) but instead Brazilian cherry. I verified that he was correct with the listing agent. No other company did this. Second, he had the lowest quoted price for the job. Third, after I selected him, he was transparent about tradeoffs rather than purely trying to upsell me. For example, he quoted me on installing wood registers everywhere when I asked, but recommended I do so only in the hallways. This advice saved me $1k and delivered a result in very happy with. Finally, Tao was easily the most response person I interacted with. It was a pleasure to work with Tao, and I'm very happy with the outcome.
