Pretty outstanding shawarma spot in an unassuming strip mall. We came in and looked obviously like it was our first time and so they sliced some chicken and beef shawarma to try. The beef shawarma was so tender and the flavors had so much complexity to it. The chicken didn't quite pack the same flavor punch but the chicken was tender and juicy and you could taste all the different seasonings. I ended up getting the chicken shawarma plate on rice and it did not disappoint. Already mentioned the chicken but the rice is also very flavorful. Has a rich almost buttery flavor. It complements the chicken well. The pita is thin and not the typical fluffy pita bread you might think of. I do wish there was a little more of it but that's a minor complaint. The garlic sauce packs a punch and the red sauce is a spicy and tangy flavor. The hummus is very light and maybe because everything else was so flavor forward, this was a little bland in comparison. Read the reviews and thought I might try this spot. Ran by a gentlemen and 2 girls it appeared relatively clean inside and very basically decorated. Sometimes places like this emphasize more on food than decor, so we said why not. What we didn't like was seeing the cash register being handled and switched personnel (who had gloves on) not change their gloves when prepping food. Huge NOOOOO for me! So y other half decided to try it anyway. Sigh! He said the food was very flavorful, but I will say for the price the portions were tiny. The wrap was the size of a Taco Bell burrito and that does not say very much. The fattoush salad did not have pita chips in it and well would we be back not sure after the glove sighting. Stopped by on a weekend afternoon for lunch and had one of the best shawarma in SoCal! Service was quick and friendly, lots of seating inside. The restaurant is part of a plaza and was very mom and pop! I ordered the mixed shawarma plate that came with pickle, hummus, chicken and beef shawarma, yellow rice, and two slices of toasted pita. Not often there's a whole chicken for TWENTY DOLLARS with sides. They give you extra sauces here no charge. If you like rotisserie chicken with a Middle East twist, this is it no doubt. Came here on a whim and was not disappointed. Our cashier/order taker was very affable and polite. She made us feel welcomed and it was great to be treated with such care. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have known I could order half and half fries and rice for my Chicken Shawarma plate. My friends ordered a shawarma wrap, another meat plate, and desserts. Everyone was very satisfied and said the food was good. As we sat and chatted while we finished up our meals, the owner came by and gave us free soda water on the house and introduced himself. That was a nice touch and surprise. Later on, he came by again and gave us free Baklava for the entire table. So today I wanted to try something different, and I noticed a Shawarma shop in Gardena. I drove over to give it a try, and it looked like they had everything set up nicely for the shop. I ordered the mixed plate with chicken and beef, half rice and half salad. The food had really nice flavor, the meats were tasty, the salad combination was fresh, and the hummus was smooth and creamy. The service was also kind; they even gave us a free drink, which was appreciated. I also noticed they let people sample the falafel before ordering, which I thought was a nice touch. That being said, one area I think could use improvement is the salt. The meat, rice, and even the pita were a bit too salty for my taste. If they could ease up on the salt, the food would be perfect, because the flavor is already there. I ordered the $14.99 beef shawarma combo, which came with the wrap, fires, a drink, 1 garlic sauce and 1 hot sauce. With tax and fees + 1 extra garlic sauce, my total was around $17 and some change. Pretty standard lunch price for food in LA/CA. The beef shawarma was very very delicious. I liked that some bits of beef had a nice crunch, almost like a light fry from how thinly shaved and stove cooked they were. The wrap bread was light and the onion/parsley topping was fresh. I was afraid I wouldn't like the tahini they add (because I already don't like tahini) BUT you really can't taste it. The garlic sauce is definitely the best I've ever had from a kebab restaurant and the hot sauce was really good too, not super hot but had a nice kick. French fries were good and salted nicely. They also have a wide variety of drinks which I loved, not just the standard Cola products. Portion wise, it was a lot of food, the wrap was stuffed and the wrap felt never ending lol. Now this is a legit Shawarma spot! Borjstar made the Top Places to Eat in Los Angeles County for Yelp in 2024 at #4 and I'm so glad I was able to try it. First of all thank you Ahmed for providing a comfortable and welcoming experience for my first time here. I love how he's so personable with customers and very generous with giving samples so new people so they know what to try. The chicken and beef shawarma is like no other, so tender and so flavorful. Legit I've tried so many Mediterranean spots and this is up there forsure. They prepare it and layer the rotisserie different than other places. My meal came out piping hot and it was just so good. I am shocked by the amount of 5 star reviews this place got! As a Shawarma place, or at least according to the name of the business, the food tastes nothing like shawarma. The place is clean and people nice; they even offered me to sample both beef and chicken shawarma without even asking them. By the look of the traditional slabs of meat on skewers, I had some high hopes for it, but it all went away as soon as I took the first bite: meat was plain, with all the wrong ingredients. the first and most basic rule of shawarma is its marinate, which is what makes it so unique, but this place had just meat with some toppings, trying to mimic what a shawarma. Unfortunately it is not even close. I am not bashing the place, but simply feel it misrepresents what shawarma is. If this was a basic sandwich place, I would give it some good marks, but when you order a shawarma, you expect something close to shawarma, if not authentic. I don't what version of shawarma it is supposed to be, but it is definitely not a Lebanese one. I just wish they made better effort with at least marinating the meat or add the right condiments to it. Whatever that is pretending to be, I would not give it another chance... Oh, and the fries are heavily spiced and salty; I get that some people like it, but if it's not your basic plain french fries, customer should know what they are getting. Couldn't finish my fries because I am not supposed to have a lot of salt, much less spicy ones... Sorry if I had to give a harsh review with the nice customer service, but if you are expecting a Shawarma, don't get your expectations set too high... so so so good I'm on a journey to eat at as many local places in Gardena and am so lucky I found this place! I had the beef kebab plate and my friend ordered the chicken shawarma with fries. We ordered a side of the hummus not knowing our plates came with it but you know we didn't mind at all, silky smooth, amazing! The beef was so tender and grilled to perfection. I don't want my meat to be so over salted that I can't taste the beef so this was perfect. Seasoned just right. The pita was warm and soft. I had my plate with the rice and it was just so so good. Especially after dipping some rice with their garlic sauce! I dipped everything I could in the garlic spread, so good! There's no wait staff here so you'll order at the counter. The young woman who took our order was incredibly friendly. The restaurant is casual with booths and tables. I like trying authentic ethnic foods, it's a great way to learn parts of the culture thru food. I read that this is an authentic shawarma shop. The owners I believe are Syrian and they say Syrians perfected the shawarma. I went early lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty, I'm a more beef kinda of person so I went with the beef shawarma plate, they also have a Arabic style plate and I asked what that was and the cashier told me that it's a shawarma wrap that cut. I opted for the regular plate. The portions were pretty big, there was a good amount of Shawarma on a bed of seasoned rice. It also came with hummus and picked pickles and what seemed to be radish. There was also 2 small pieces of grilled pita bread. It also came with the garlic sauce which was pretty mild and a sauce I don't know the name of it looked like salsa but was minty, lemony with a slight spiciness. For the price they don't skimp on the portions. I was stuffed after the meal and I feel I'm a big eater. I am in no way a shawarma expert so this is only my opinion, it looked like I may have been the first customer to get the beef shawarma for the day, my shawarma was a bit dry and beef jerky texture almost. I really wished that I could have gotten the second layer which would have been much tender and less jerky texture. The beef was just a tad bit salty for my personal taste, as I get older I seem to be more sensitive to saltiness. After I sat down and started eating my food, couple of Asian lady's came in who had never had That type of food and the cashier offered them to sample the chicken and the beef shawarma, I wished she had asked me to sample the shawarma before I ordered since it also was my first time. Anyways next time I will try the chicken shawarma. I'll definitely be going back to try some of their other options, they do also have rotisserie chicken and kabobs and wraps. The parking is fine as long as you park way back of the plaza, it's seems like it's a busy plaza. But won't be a problem unless you're seeking a spot right in front of the restaurant.
