I was told I could pay half now and half later. I paid the half. We came back in to have it partially removed. He was healing fine, but the dentist recommended he get his wisdom teeth removed. (this isn't our regular dentist) I told them now wasn't the best time as we just wanted to focus on his jaw healing and didn't want to cause any more pain that he'll have to endure. He was supposed to have the remaining part surgically removed from his mouth within 2 weeks. They pushed it out a month because of the Masters. We came back to finally have it removed and again they're pushing the molars and added it on. I had them remove it again. They call me up to the counter and they're charging me triple what I expected to pay. They said this was the second separate treatment plan to remove that certain part. So they gave me the first one, DID NOT inform me that we'll be needing to do another for the removal. Which doesn't make sense whatsoever. Why would they separate it and not notify of an additional amount due?? They said that a certain piece in his mouth they put in him was not covered by insurance and that they didn't know it was going to be needed so it wasn't initially quoted. But what?!? Just put it on his body without notifying me or telling me that it wouldn't be covered. Is there an alternative to this product? Was I even given the option to research this? No. They had notes of them calling me, but when they said they would contact me, they said it was in regard to the molars. Which I had already said no to. Then they said they mailed a refund for the first amount paid, which I never received. I asked them to pull the cleared check and am still waiting on that. The staff was friendly and so was the dentist. But Their form of communicating or fully informing their patients is awful. Pushing things that aren't relevant, not providing important information upfront. It's clear, patients are not their priority. Since I wasn't given the option for the product that was not approved and my son had to have it removed regardless. I paid the amount. I had to complain, but they did give me a discount. This situation was an emergency so a lot of things were rushed on choosing a surgical dentist. I'll be sure to be more cautious next time.

I spent more time with the finance clerk. The day of my surgery, he was late returning from lunch. I was extremely nervous as I waited because I have never been put to sleep for a procedure before...my heart rate was through the roof. The nurse somewhat calmed my nerves by explaining the things she was doing to prep for the procedure. However, when he came in, he greeted me with a generic "hey" and immediately went to the side counter in the room and began talking to the nurse. After a few seconds, she came up to me and administered something (I know now it was anesthesia) in the IV without warning me and then returned to talk to him at the counter. I was later (40min) waken up by a different person with a bloody gauze hanging out my mouth and still disoriented. I never saw Dr. Scott or the nurse again. I was asked to walk down a hall to my waiting ride. I stumbled several times with little support and no wheelchair. I was given a sticky note size paper with very vague instructions. I had several questions that I just chose to google myself. The lack of care, support and empathy was overwhelming... I cried on my 35 min ride home. I felt like I was just an item to scratch off his to-do list for that day. My actual dentist is the complete opposite, and I wish he would have referred my surgery with someone else.
