I have never posted a bad review about any business but I do feel the need to warn any other about potential issues with this place. Before starting this off, I want everyone to know that I am a very understanding person. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt and I understand things happen but I am appalled at the issues I ran into at this place.
I had three wisdom teeth removed July 20th, 2018. From my very first appointment, I felt very uncomfortable. The customer service was not very great and I was not thrilled to be receiving surgery from people so unorganized and slightly rude. It really did not help my nerves at all. My family and I had already scheduled my surgery date because I was leaving for college soon so I needed it done, and when I spoke to the lady who was scheduling my surgery, she told me this couldn't be possible and couldn't find my surgery appointment in the computer. A while later she ended up finding it. I know things happen like I said earlier so I overlooked that and didn't really care about it.
My surgery date, I came in. My nurse began to prep me for my surgery and when I told her I was nervous, she said ,"Well, you aren't the first surgery today so you'll be fine." This was odd to me because I've seen other reviews of this place where they stated their nerves were calmed greatly around these people. That's what I was expecting but unfortunately not what I received. I heard two employees behind me talking about another patient who ended up going to the hospital because of complications and I started panicking. That really freaked me out majorly and I tried my hardest to relax and just face the music.
After surgery I was taken out to the car. My mother said that the lady who brought me out simply handed her a prescription, and barely said anything else.
A couple of days later, I was in loads and loads of pain. I began to bleed again after stopping bleeding. I was constantly crying and hurting and it was some of the worst pain I had been in. I could barely eat, sleep, anything. No matter what I did there was pain. It was very hard to move past it and eventually they had to call in more medicine because the oral surgeon I had wouldn't be back in Augusta until the Friday of that week, and it was Tuesday or Wednesday. I went in on Friday with my grandmother. That was the one day I received a very sweet lady as a nurse. I don't remember her name but she really made me feel a lot better even in my pained state. The doctor came in, saw I had infection in my sockets (not dry sockets but actual infection) and packed one of them with clove oil. This was horrible but it eluded the pain and cleaned out the infection. When I went in the get my packing removed, however, I waited for about an hour until Dr Bakeman saw me finally. I would've been more understanding except when he was putting my packing in, he told me that to take it out, the appointment would be quick. This angered me as it was one of my last free days before moving to Athens. At this appointment he finally gave me a syringe to wash my mouth. I was fine for a while while it was healing until eventually I realized that I had an abscess growing on my gums. After my oral surgeon here in Augusta refused to work with my mother and I by calling in an antibiotic at any point throughout this entire ordeal, I saw an amazing oral surgeon up in Athens. He immediately saw me, told me I had a localized infection from my surgery and infections in other sockets as well, and called me in an antibiotic. He said he would have drained it but that would probably put me in more pain than I was already in. Within a week after receiving the antibiotics, the infection was gone. Thank God for him!! I am warning anyone that the Aiken Augusta Oral Surgeons and their staff, when I was with them, were not very kind, organized, or professional. If I could go back I would never return to them for surgery. It is a major letdown for me because I know many others had amazing experiences but mine was horrible. Please make sure you discuss concerns with your oral surgeons. read more
