However, the great food cannot make up for the lousy service I seem to get every time I am here. The worst was a few months ago for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. It was supposed to be a surprise dinner with all of his friends. I made reservations 2 weeks in advanced online. I then called the day before the dinner to confirm the reservations. Apparently I talked to the cook and he said that my reservation looked fine. He repeated how many people the reservation was for, my name, and at what time so all seemed fine. My boyfriend's friends showed up to the restaurant before me and called me to say they did not have the reservations. When I arrived a few minutes later they tried to tell me that the cook had told me to call back in a few minutes when I talked to him on the phone the day before. I explained to them how if that were the case I obviously would have called back because of the importance of the reservations. They tried to reserve us a table for the next evening, but obviously that wouldnt work. The great thing about being an American in Norway is Norwegians are quickly intimidated when we raise our voice. As soon as I raised my voice and let them know how pissed I was, we were given a table. It was not quite big enough for all of us, but we were at least seated. The service after that was still awful. I would have thought it was because I raised my voice at them, but having been here several times before that, I wouldnt have expected the service to be anything but lousy and if it werent for my boyfriend being Norwegian and used to bad service, I would never go back, but unfortunately, he loves the place.

When you eat here , you order with a QR code or you go up to the bar. I'm not really a fan of that…read more I do like the blankets on the chairs. Food was OK. It could've been better. We had longtime braised beef brisket, and chicken quesadilla with a passion sour drink.

Expensive mediocre domestic tourist trap would be an apt description of Egon…read more Some people like them because they have a large selection of varied dishes, but that means they're all mediocre at best I tried the Schweinshaxe and it was just meh, being overcooked so it was dry on some parts and very little taste in the condiments. Others in the party had spareribs, pasta and quesadillas that they also found mediocre. The Chèvre salad was the only dish described as good I also wanted some desert and ordered some ice cream, which should be the "easiest" dessert there is, but it had some ice crystals in it... They're also not a proper restaurant as you have to order from the counter, fortunately they do have app ordering to the table after Covid. But the ETA in the app is just a wild guess, and it will say "finished" without you having seen the dish That means a simple thing as getting the coffee together with the ice you ordered is not possible Coupled with outrageously expensive prices you should never really go here. Just figure out what food you like to eat and you'll easily find places that are cheaper and much better! You can even eat at Bib Gourmand restaurants in Oslo for less

Yet the prices are expensive even compared to other gourmet burgers in town. Together they bring low value (with their line-chef / head chef military precision in their kitchen, you expect better). However, they might be able to sustain themselves feeding off tourists thinking of a final "luxury burger" on their way to the airport. I would advise you to stay clear of this place, grab a bacon hotdog from 7Eleven and save your hard-earned money for better-valued $25(!) burgers outside Norway. We had three burgers to taste: Bacon & Cheese, Santa Fe and BBQ Pulled Pork. The good thing is the beef patties are of good quality and served pink in the middle (ironically it gets complaints from Norwegians, demonstrating the difficulty of introducing modern cuisine in Oslo). On the minus side, it is smallish; the buns were bad and soggy; the Bacon & Cheese is not very exciting; the Santa Fe's guac and pico-de-gallo did not lend an dimension to the dish; the Pulled Pork had a over-sharp sweetness to it and matches poorly with the slaw. Overall it's not complete disappointment, but it's a meh. To be fair, Opland is a new place that needs work, but I would need convincing positive reviews after a few months to consider another try.
