As we walked around, we were amazed by the rows and rows of flowers. Everything was neatly arranged, healthy, and obviously cared for with pride. These were some of the finest flowers I've ever seen anywhere. While we were there, we spoke with a gentleman named Steve. He caught our attention when he pulled into the place with his vintage muscle car. I made a promise that day to return this year and buy his flowers. So yes, as promised, we visited this past Thursday, and purchased what we needed for our front and back yard gardens. There planted and by far are the nicest flowers we've ever had in our yard. The quality is outstanding, and the guidance Steve provided made all the difference. Whispers Vineyard & Nursery has earned our business for years to come. (BTW We drive over one hour to get here and its so worth it.) The great wine adds to the experience. The genuine customer service which is becoming harder to find these days was a home run here. Although this festival has been around for years, this was my first visit on Sunday December 8th,…read more2024. It started off great as we were able to park in the Marina parking lot for free! This festival is geared toward kids and family fun! Pictures with Santa, roasting marshmallows, and ice skating. The Village Center was the site for the "Festival of Trees". Local business themed Christmas trees all decorated for the season. Vendors of all kinds set up their wares here as well as in various locations throughout the village. The highlight of the event are the performers who are dressed up in 19th century Victorian era costumes. Some are stationed at various points, giving out directions. Others are meandering around the village spreading Christmas cheer, "Happy Christmas to you both!" Many stop to talk to and take pictures with the children and their families. We heard they parade down Main Street and stop at the lighting of the Christmas tree. Both activities which I missed...no doubt buying something from a vendor! The weather was unusually balmy for December. It did not take away at all from the cheery Christmas feel. I wish I had known about this event when my children were younger, I definitely would have visited with them. Truth be told, Christmas is my favorite holiday! I had a wonderful time... From the horse drawn carriages coming down Main St into port, it truly was an entertaining experience. Fast forward to 2019. From Newsday to News12 all saying come to Port Jefferson and experience the Dickens festival! Really? Over the years, I have seen people getting dressed like the characters?! On Saturday I run errands. I like to come into Port Jefferson and grab a specialty coffee at Starbucks. Starbucks during this weekend is slammed with tweens and parents drinking frappachinos. Parking? Forget about it, every spot is taken. Port Jefferson is a mad house with people trying to get a free marshmallow..... And why do you folks feel the need to get dressed like a Chimmey Sweep?? Dudes... really?? I'm knocking off a star. What was once nice memories are now dread when I get my coffee and dry cleaning. Nothing to see here folks, go to Sayville...

I expected a lot more vendors, particularly peach themed ones but... that was it for the peach theme. There were 3 vendors selling things you'd see at a craft fair type. Cotton candy & popcorn was included in the admission too, but the line moved too slowly for us to hang around for it. There were some yard games that if my baby was older I think we would have enjoyed. While the peach festival aspect was disappointing, the horses were extremely friendly and it's always nice to get up close to those beautiful creatures. There were some alpacas, roosters, and one pig too. Along with a few very pretty flowers. I definitely wouldn't return for the festival but when my daughter's older if she's interested in horses this is a great spot for that.

They have plenty of menu choices that would fit everyone's tastes. The wait staff is always friendly and efficient. It's the venue itself that is preventing this place from more stars. They can make small changes that would result in a big improvement. 1) Add lighting in the parking lot. It's super dark-- every time I walk through, I think I might slip on ice and die. 2) Add more spots for photo opportunities. Everyone always looks so nice at these parties, and they don't have any nice backgrounds for pictures, just a small fireplace and a dinky Christmas tree. 3) Add a coat check. I had to hang my coat myself in a small closet, which may or may not have been a storage/utilities closet. This country club would suffice for smaller functions such as company parties, sweet 16s, etc. but I'd consider another venue for more significant events.
