Large peach orchard. We went on a Sunday, a few days after a big storm. Got there first thing in…read morethe morning and were surprised to find the parking lot already half full. Entrance was $4 per person, but you the first $4 worth of peaches back. And it was only $2/Lb thereafter. A bargain. Even with the loss of much fruit and some trees from the storm, we were able to find about 80 pounds of peaches after an hour. Most needed a few more days to soften. But, some of us enjoy their tartness and crunchiness anyway. And despite having large sections of the farm roped off, due to fallen trees, there was plenty of space for our family to roam without bumping into other people. There was also a stand selling grilled corn. And, there were plenty of portopotties, with anti bac available. Our family had a nice time and took home enough peaches to spread around a few families. And it was a bargain compared to other farms we've been to. Sweet! Made the hour drive from Queens worth it.

I called in the morning. Recording stated there are peaches to pick but didn't specify which kind. Upon arrival, I find out only yellow peaches and nectarines available. White peaches and donut peaches available for purchase only at the table. $20 for 1-3 persons but we had 4 people ( including 2 kids) got in no problem. The admission included 7 lb of fruit. Anything extra was $2.85 per pound. Tree rows are numbered. We were told to pick between number 35 to 46. We didn't see many peaches but we saw lots of nectarines. We saw other trees full of peaches but they were blocked and supervised by staff. We ended up getting over 10 lb of fruit and paid extra. Got some donut peaches for $8, about 6 of them in a small basket. There were stands selling corn on a cob, lemonade, snow cones, popcorn and ice cream from a truck. No other children activities. Spanish is the language there even the sign was written in Spanish. The ladies at the cashier spoke English. Not a five star because the phone recording didn't specify what kind of peaches available. I especially love the donut peaches which was available last weekend but not this time. Also I didn't see many peaches on trees. Many were picked already or fallen on the ground, giving out some rotten fruity smell.

Every year I go to Lewins for Apple picking and Harbes for pumpkin picking (both highly…read morerecommended), but this year we accidently scheduled apple picking for a day that Lewins was closed so we decided to go here. BIG mistake! During September and October I realize I can easily buy apples and pumpkins at the Shoprite located a half of a block away from my house, but what I really want is the EXPERIENCE of picking them with my family. It's something we look forward to each fall and always enjoy. Well, so much for "always". Today's trip to the Davis Peach farm was how I imagine a convicted felons first trip must be to Rikers Island. You are greeted at the gate by large signs that basically tell you that you are only allowed the clothes on your back and the loved ones you arrived with. For those that can't read, a large man will remind you of the rules and then make your wife put her tiny purse back in the truck. He did thank us for complying with the rules, but in a way that felt disingenuous. Next up is the half asleep/half annoyed bag handler that forces you to front ten dollars before you set foot in the field. Not that you don't get the ten bucks put towards your purchase, but it's another example of how this place is run. With more rules than Seinfelds Soup Nazi.... The fields are covered with broken branches, garbage, and yellow police caution tape. But since I had already paid the ten dollar minimum, I just made the best of it and filled our bags and got the hell out of there. To be fair, the fruit towards the back was nice and ripe. It's just that to get there you have to deal with all of the hostility and regulations first. But that's what I get for not hitting yelp before I went!!!!

Not only was parking very difficult to navigate, there were barely any staff inside the children's play area. After paying $15 per child, you'd expect at least some employees keeping tabs on the play area. So many of the kids' toys/playgrounds were over capacity to the point of being dangerous. Additionally, the poor cows in the beginning of the animal area had wounds on their legs that were exposed. I hate to think that they are not being well taken care of. While we were excited to see a Mickey and Minnie to take photos with, the costumes were lacking the typical playful features. They were most definitely a step (or two) down from the real costumes. The kicker was that the $10 Mickey pretzel didn't even come warm. $20 for two cold pretzels is something else. Overall a pretty disappointing experience.

We bought the ticket for their big slide and our kiddo had a blast riding it a bunch of times. The staff there's were really nice. We got to hang out with all the animals and that was the best because there was literally no other person at the farm, at that time. They have hand washing stations, decent bathrooms, tons of things that kids can jump on, ride and play with. It's so nice and I definitely want to come back. We payed on the go-carts and they also have huge bouncy pillows and a big corn playpen for the kiddies that love sensory play. They have a beautiful nursery and small farm store, so on the way out I purchased some flavored honey, painted rocks, and plants, for my mother.

I sampled some of the available apples and they were not that sweet but I had already paid for the box ($67 for one peck) so I just picked the ones that were ok. I also picked lots of string beans, so it wasn't a complete waste. I was told it was a rip off but I enjoyed the experience. Fast forward a few days and now the apples are very sweet and crisp! Better than what you get at the supermarket for sure. The green beans are also fresh and not like the mushy bags you get at Trader Joe's. There's nothing like farm to table. They also have a nice bakery with excellent cheese bread and pies. Very fresh and warm when we bought them. The location is closer to Nassau and Manhattan than other farms on Long Island. We wanted to go to Milk Pail but it was a longer drive.
