After moving into a new build with a dirt backyard, we really had no idea what to do with such an empty space. This review is just based on their communication; they never were able to provide me with a quote. I called and spoke with Erik on the phone on Wednesday (March 16) morning. Rather than take down my name and number, he asked me to go to his website to complete an estimate request. I can understand that perhaps he was on site and was not able to jot down my information. I followed his request to enter my information on the company website. On his website, the estimate button triggered a page long entry, a shopping list of landscaping items, but it also had on there a place to make note and provide all contact information. I left everything blank except the contact information and included a note for Erik to contact me. On Thursday I received this e-mail: "HI Monica, This is our sold job order form, can you please fill out the estimate form for your contact information and Erik will call you to confirm day and time to meet. Thank you, Amy" I thought her e-mail was rather odd because she obviously emailed me and they already had all of my contact information I promptly emailed her back, notifying them that the area they asked to me to fill out automatically populated this "sold job form". Obviously there was a glitch on their website. No reply from Amy, but I did receive a response from Erik on Saturday, March 19, to which he emailed me that he would be by on Monday. I emailed him back and told him that I was not going to be home during the day. I did not receive a response...Monday my security cameras picked up a gentleman at my door around 10am; I assume it was Erik, there was no follow-up phone call or email to suggest. From the reviews, it looks like he does great work. I would have liked to have worked with him, but I truly felt like they were trying to hire me, rather than me trying to hire them. read more

This past spring Erik and his crew gave my backyard a makeover. Planted several desert friendly shrubs and succulents, sodded a portion of the yard where a large shed had been previously, installed curbing around the borders of the yard, added rock to the appropriate areas and got my irrigation system working like it should. After a recommendation from a neighbor in 2016 I decided to call Erik. He promptly answered the phone and recommended I fill out a form on his website with what we wanted. Erik scheduled a no cost estimate and came by and walked the yard and made suggestions that were within our budget. We wanted plants, trees, artificial grass, and built in BBQ/eating area and fire pit. We had other estimates but we felt comfortable dealing with Erik. We agreed on everything and he sent us a design and estimate in writing via email. We didn't have to pay the full amount up front either. We paid installments depending on work completed! The job was completed in a timely fashion. His workers were polite, hard working and cleaned up after they finished. Erik doesn't SUB out his work. It's him and his own guys on the job. His masonry guys do top notch work! We had one tree die due to the Arizona heat and Erik promptly replaced it no questions asked! This work was all done 3 years ago! Fast forward to 2019 we needed more masonry and landscape work done. We called Erik. He's really busy and is booking 9-10 weeks out! We agreed to that! Erik showed up this past Monday with his crew promptly at 7am! It was the same crew that did our yard 3 years ago! It's obvious that Erik is s great boss and takes care of his workers! Borders and Beyond did good work on our hardscape- rocks and concrete. However, the softscape, plants and trees along with drip system installation, was not well done at all. Hire a separate softscape company that has proven expertise in planting trees and shrubs at the proper depth and choosing the correct plants for the expected sun exposure. Burying the drip system deep enough to where parts of it would not surface after a few rains would have been nice. read more

This review is based on their communication or lack there of. I recently moved into a new house and received one of their beautiful postcards in the mail, with various landscaping packages listed on them, also say call for a free consultation. I called the number and spoke with Eric, the owner and asked to schedule an appointment to have a quote done for some landscaping. Eric didn't schedule the appointment but directed me to their website to request an estimate, which would trigger a phone call from him, which I did. I find this odd! Just schedule the appointment while I'm on the phone or take down my info and call me back when you can, because as I feared, no phone call! They still haven't called me to this day! Maybe they should spend less money on direct mail and hire someone to answer the phone and schedule appointments or respond to the email requests. read more

We recently completed our second backyard project with Borders and Beyond. The first job turned out beautifully and we always loved the feeling of our backyard. When we moved into our new home and decided to re-do the existing back yard, we knew who to call. Erik has a great "vision" and great design ideas. He was able to incorporate all of our ideas but added his own insight to make it even better. We had some extensive work done. Erik and his guys re-built our bbq area and added a sitting bar, complete with a tile top and stack stone sides. They also built us a new firepit, installed curbing and new sod, new irrigation, new plants, trees, and granite. In addition, they re-modeled an existing above ground spa enclosure with hearthstone and stackstone, as well as installing a very large area of pavers for a patio and walkway to the front yard. I couldn't be more pleased with their work. The paver work is amazing. The yard looks so clean and inviting, I can't wait for the weather to cool down a little so we can enjoy our new outdoor space some more! There were a few hiccups along the way, as there are in all jobs, but Erik and Alex were very accommodating, always made themselves available, listened to all of my concerns, and acted promptly to resolve any problems.
