Pizza is quite good. Thin and crispy with great toppings. Dinner entrees are very good.

What an absolutely delightful Tuesday evening at the charming Riegelsville Inn. The weather was…read moreperfect, ~78, so we dined on the porch overlooking the bridge and the River. The hostess was very sweet and engaging, and offered us a great table on the porch. We started with cocktails; French Chardonnay for my wife, and Charred Heat for me. Both absolutely fantastic. The Isla Escargot was a delicious combination of chorizo and escargot. On to the entrees; Brisket, Cornbread and Coleslaw for my wife, and Barn and Sea for me. My dish of a pork chop with Boursin and crab over garlic mashed potatoes was absolutely divine. Finally, our Server, Chris, was truly a pro. The perfect blend of attentiveness and polite conversation. It's a must do when you find yourself in the area, and we cannot wait to go back!

I ordered $30 Lobster stew, described as scalded cream with 4 ounces of lobster meat. The small bowl of liquid had neither the taste not the texture of scalded cream (seeming more like cornstarch) , tasing of salt with salt and more salt. No butter, no spices, no veggies The randomly mutilated pieces of lobster were flavorless and chewy. Last time I was here I ordered what was described as spicy chili with tropical ingredients, but it was barely reheated, massively overcooked dry, bland paste. Does this place depend on people not knowing how stuff should be?

Seriously, this is a great little place to stop off & grab a soda & snack on your way up or down 611 (and River Rd.), hugging along the Delaware. I've never been to the connected restaurant, but it's full every time I've stopped by the shop, which is indicative of...well...something. I've never had anything less than a satisfactory experience rolling through here, whether for a quick bite from the deli, or just grabbing a nice Canada Dry/York Peppermint Patty combo & hitting the road again. And the location is a free bonus: if your blood pressure doesn't lower a little in such beautiful surroundings as those around this shop, you might just want to be tense. Finally...you can buy bait here. Honestly, if you're at a place where you can pick up all manner of live bait (except jailbait, thankfully), isn't everything else a little bit of an extra?

The second time I visited the store was to buy a lottery ticket. I wanted to pick my own numbers but she was in such a hurry to get me out so she could continue her conversation that she just auto picked the numbers. When I told her I didn't want auto pick she said nothing and handed me a receipt. I HIGHLY suggestion the new owners teach their employees some lessons in CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! On another note, their prices are insane. $6.75 for a gallon of ice cream?!? Unless I have an emergency of some sort, I will not be going back there for anything! I would rather drive a little further and give my business to people would appreciate it.

It puts every diner to shame. The food is absolutely fantastic! So fresh they overdeliver they even have fresh turkey sliced every day to put on their sandwiches. We just moved to Frenchtown and do not have a workable kitchen yet so we've eaten every lunch there for two weeks and try something different every time. I can't recommend a single sandwich or salad because every single one was just perfect including the soups. Don't even get me started with the staff. They're so good. They are attentive, fast, kind, everything you would wish a waste to have to be when you're tired and hungry. They just deliver. So standing ovation to the kitchen and the staff. And the atmosphere is quaint and simple, not overdone and too cute. They have outdoor seating in the warmer months and there seems to almost always be aligned so going to yelp and getting yourself on the waiting list is probably super smart. We love the Frenchtown Cafe. XO Nanci and Michael.

I also tried the soup of the day which is the chicken corn chowder and I highly enjoyed it. It's a very small cafe and not much room to move about so when it's packed it gets pretty noisy. The couple things I want to note are around how long it was to wait for a table and food. We arrived in the area around 1125am and I called to place my name on the wait-list. Upon answering, the hostess informed me you have to place your name on the waitlist in person. No issue, I walked over to do this. Only to find out that the waitlist is monitored by Yelp, which can easily be done online. So that was very frustrating to see at the start. We then were told to wait 15-20 minutes. When we got to the front of the list, they then informed us that we needed to wait an additional 20-30 minutes as the kitchen needed to flip. This was very confusing and a big turn off. Eventually, I spoke with a woman who allowed us to come inside and sit down instead of waiting outside for over an hour. It would have been nice to know at the outset of this whole interaction that breakfast wasn't going to be an option and then it would be an hour before we could order and eat. At the end of the day, we ate our great food and enjoyed being able to dine at this place. I will just look into a few more places on my next visit here.
