    Guacamole

Gosh, I have missed this place. They have the best Guacamole by far!! Fresh, flavorful and the serving is huge for $7.95! The fresh tortilla chips are excellent as is the salsa. I ordered the Chicken Bandera, which is mesquite grilled chicken breast seared with a kicked-up Chipotle lime glaze. Served with a grilled avocado, mango salsa and your choice of side- I got Jambalaya. I love their version of Jambalaya. Yes, I know it's not traditional, but I love it. The grilled avocado and mango salsa were unusual and fresh. Overall it was a breath of fresh air, and I have enough for tomorrow! I sat at the bar, so service was fast, and friendly. The place is bright, large and what you would expect of a Tex Mex restaurant. There is also outdoor seating when the weather allows.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Border Cafe in Burlington was a pleasant surprise on a busy Saturday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining room is huge and it was packed, but our food still came out promptly and hot impressive service under pressure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They started us off right with complimentary warm tortilla chips and really flavorful salsa that had everyone at the table reaching for more. I ordered a cup of Louisiana gumbo to start, and it was rich, spicy, and delicious. For my main, the blackened chicken with rice and beans was spot-on: generous portion, perfectly seasoned, and super tasty. Our table also shared a half-size chicken fajita (solid and sizzling) and chicken enchiladas (good overall, though a touch salty). Our waitress was attentive and proactive, keeping refills coming and checking that we had everything we needed without missing a beat. If I'm ever back in Burlington, this is definitely a spot I'd hit again. Great value, big flavors, and handles crowds like a champ.

Stopped in during off-peak hours for a late lunch and had a great, well-priced meal. I loved the blackened broccoli quesadillas! What a fantastic vegetarian option. My husband got the Mexican burger and enjoyed it. Shoestring fries were fine (not our favorite style o' fries). I also got a couple of house margaritas that were actually good! Not too strong (but strong enough) and not too sweet. Staff was courteous and attentive. Handicapped parking was available right at the entrance.

I've been coming to Border Cafe for years and it's always been one of my favorite spots, which is why tonight was so disappointing. Several things with the food were clearly off: * The jambalaya rice was burnt and crunchy. * The burrito chicken was extremely dry. * The chips and salsa were over-salted, and when we asked for unsalted chips, the replacement batch was burnt. * The tomatoes on the chicken were mushy, not fresh and firm like they usually are. * The fish tasted frozen, which is unusual for what Border Cafe normally serves. The only bright spot was our waitress, who was incredibly sweet and helpful. We actually felt bad bringing up the issues because she was doing everything she could. It honestly felt like the kitchen quality has slipped, which is surprising for a place that used to be so consistent. I hope management looks into this because Border Cafe has always been a great restaurant, and it would be nice to see the food quality return to what it used to be.

The food is absolutely amazing here and I LOVE ()  the jambalaya (jum-ba-li-ya) here! It's the best and I also really love their fajitas and corn chips!!! The service is bizarre! The waitress was so nice We had a great experience! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place looked so festive and well taken care of on the inside and out. It is very big and decorated, too! They have a great bed of plants that are well trimmed and up to date on the outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a great experience here and having been coming here for 11 years. NEVER let me down. Great every time

    CHICKEN FAJITAS

The food is amazing. Authentic mexican food at a great price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No reservations but the place is enormous with ton of tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chicken fajitas were perfect. The chicken had a great char while still being juicy and tender. The onions and peppers were cooked through instead of being crunchy and raw. The service was busy but our server was very helpful and friendly. The food came out in maybe 10 minutes it was crazy food. Come here for some great mexican cuisine.

Started off loving the chips and salsa and also loved my shrimp tacos. The chipotle aioli with the tacos was truly "chef's kiss." The margaritas were good, but a bit watered down and on the pricier side. Service was decent. Being someone who lived in Texas, the country music and Texas decor took me right back, especially after visiting the week before. They allowed my friends and I to chat for hours - a gesture we truly appreciated. All in all, a delightful spot for gathering with friends.

    Blackened chicken fajitas, blackened broccoli

I went to culinary school. First time going to this location. Would not return. The chips served were not warm like they usually are. The blackened chicken fajitas was around half of the portion you get from other locations (including the onions and peppers). And the bottom was burnt, not blackened. The broccoli was also half burnt and barely warm, the serving dish wasn't warm at all. Over on the left you can see a very sad amount of limp lettuce and a tiny scoop of guac. Our waters were also not refilled at all (the dining room was maybe 60% full so not crazy busy). Go to Saugus. Or better yet, bring back the Harvard square location.

Predictable and passable enchiladas at an average price point. This is an acceptable location for a casual meal and is very kid friendly.

Our server Nick was a very friendly and charming person. He earned his tip at the end. Place has an elegant vibe that would be good for a special occasion. I started with the Wollensky Salad. I found the potato croutons to be interesting and the bacon lardons somewhat tough. My filet mignon should have been the highlight and ended up being a total disappointment. I ordered it medium but was instead served almost rare. Nick asked me to cut into it and he himself said that it was somewhat rare so he took it back. Someone else brought the same steak back a few minutes later and parts were overcooked and parts were still medium rare. I also noticed that the table next to me sent one of their steaks back and also leaving it on their plates after it was brought back. For dessert, I had the coconut creme cake that was really good. I'm unlikely to go back to this restaurant even with a $55 promotion before taxes and tip. I guess that I should feel lucky that is all I paid.

It's a rough spot for businesses in my opinion, there is very little parking there on Main St. if the spots are already taken up. But I continue to get fried chicken a handful of times a year from here because it's consistent for mass marketed birds. If you are going to do just a handful of things then do them well. And the chicken is about as good as it gets for fast food style. Perfectly seasoned, maybe a tiny hint of spice and cooked to the perfect temp to ensure crispiness. I always get the dark meat, plus it's a little cheaper. I don't understand heathens who swear by white meat that has very little flavor. I tried the tenders one time and was even given one because they are "cajun" style so I wanted to make sure they didn't heat up the mouth of the kids. Flavor is excellent and I didn't taste spice at all. For the sides, the biscuits if freshly cooked are perfect, but they do tend to dry out quickly. My kids love the mac and cheese, it is very very yellow-cheesy and goopy, if that's your style. I'm ok with the mashed potatoes, they are definitely instant and I wish they had more gravy or at least it came on the side like KFC serves. I really like the customer service and camaraderie here. I've been inside before on a busy Friday night and it's mostly Indians chit chatting with one another. It has a very homely feel at times when in reality it shouldn't because it's just a storefront counter selling a handful of items. So let's recap as to how we got to the final score. Location 3/5 stars Chicken 5/5 stars Sides 3/5 stars Service 5/5 stars Two of the most important areas in my book got this up to 4 stars for the type of food it is. Fast, friendly and the star of the show is delicious!

It tasted like garbage and was so inedible I threw it away for fear of getting food poisoning. Chicken sandwich: Not bad, but there are better cheaper chicken sandwiches out there. Mac & cheese: Tasted very processed. It wasn't kraft brand but it tasted similar-ish. We ordered ice water with lemon. About five minutes later, the water arrived--but without the lemons. We decided to let it go, and shortly afterward she returned to take our order. We ordered two salads: THAI PEANUT SALAD (added chicken) Napa cabbage, red cabbage, scallions, red pepper, peanut dressing, and crispy rice noodles. CLASSIC CAESAR SALAD (added shrimp) Romaine hearts, garlic croutons, shaved Romano, and creamy Caesar dressing. Then we waited. About 10-15 minutes later, our waitress stopped by to ask if we needed anything. We were fine. Another 15 minutes passed, and she checked on us again. About 10 minutes later, she stopped by once more and said she was going to check with the kitchen. The restaurant was only about half full, with plenty of open tables. We had ordered two salads--it doesn't get much simpler than that. Finally, about 45 minutes after we arrived, our lunches made their way to the table. My Classic Caesar Salad was overdressed, and the shrimp, while acceptable, was a bit dry. I didn't try the Thai Peanut Salad. Ironically, this was one of the few times I would have preferred eating at the Legal Sea Foods in Logan Airport, where they somehow manage to get good food to your table much more promptly. I doubt I'll return to this location. One tip: parking in the lot directly in front of Legal Sea Foods is very tight. I parked in the former Lord & Taylor lot around the corner, which was only a few minutes' walk away.
