An amazing, detail-oriented, exciting eatery has opened in Speedway! From start to finish, this place is incredibly well thought out. There is a parking lot outside (but it fills fast during brunch hours! May need to park across the street). The art starts outside with beautiful flowers and cool benches. When you go in, there may be a wait (on a Sunday at noon we had a half hour wait for 3 of us), but we went into the cafe half of the building and got coffee and pastries to go while we waited! The market in the cafe portion has lots of cool, local and artisan goods. We bought a loaf of sour dough and 2 pastries to eat in the upcoming week. We also got the hot chocolate and the mocha while we waited for our table. The hot chocolate tasted like it was literally melted chocolate, and the mocha had a salty foam on top which was a perfect way to counteract the sweetness. It was beautiful and possibly the best mocha I've ever had. Nice our table was ready, we went through the beautifully decorated restaurant to our just-as-cute table. The waitress was very nice. Our party got the Turkish eggs, the grandpas skillet, and the breakfast plate. The Turkish eggs were so flavorful, unique, and accompanied by the perfect amount of bread. The grandpas skillet was also uniquely flavored and tasted incredible. The breakfast plate had fennel-maple sausage which 2/3 people in our party enjoyed (the other was just hoping for regular sausage). This is the best, newest restaurant in town. I will be back to work in their cafe, buy pastries, and back for dinner at some point! read more

Came here for the soft opening and it was so special! From the beautiful setting with the rounded archways, eclectic paintings and wall decor, pops of color, comfortable seating, and even a countertop in front of the kitchen - I feel so lucky to live in Speedway and get to have this spot right around the corner from me! Our table picked a few dishes to share and my favorite out of all of them aside from the Tiramisu pie (YOU NEED TO TRY THIS ... so good I dreamt about it last night) was the flatbread sandwich. All of the dishes we ordered tasted delicious while still making us feel healthy. The ingredients tasted fresh. I also really enjoyed the polenta fries. I cannot wait to come back here in the morning and enjoy pastries with coffee. I like that they have affordable prices and their cafe menu runs all day. Way to go Borage! Everything from the service, to the quality dishes crafted with creativity, and the beautiful space was so special. Shocked by all the great reviews of this place. Cinnamon rolls are served cold and very dry, they look much better than they taste. Our table waited at least fifteen minutes to be served our breakfast burritos that were still frozen in the center. They offered to remake them, but after watching how they just heat it up in a microwave I was not interested. Would not return here. read more

I stopped by the market section of Borage to try their chocolate cheesecake croissant and their pain au chocolat. I was a bit confused at first because on first bite the chocolate cheesecake croissant seemed like it was thawing from the fridge/freezer (the chocolate was super hard) but then when you bite past the hard cylinder of chocolate, it's a nice gooey mix of chocolate/cheesecake. Same with the pain au chocolat-- the chocolate part was super hard, but the rest was soft. I'd say the chocolate cheesecake croissant was quite good-- would recommend!-- but the pain au chocolat wasn't my favorite (not really flaky/layered). The interior is really nice & would be a great spot to catch up with a friend. The drink menu looked varied. I will have to come back to try the restaurant side and the drinks, but from a pastry perspective, I'd say it was a 4/5. read more

My husband and I finally made it here after following Zoe's pastries during the pandemic. Borage is nestled in the heart of Speedway which isn't a neighborhood we frequent, yet. It took a few minutes to see a hostess but were sat right away. Glad to see it so busy! I walked over to the bakery side in order to see the pastries in the case. I chose the lemon curd and berry (red and black raspberries today) croissant. While I love each of those individually, it was on the sour side as many of the berries were tart! I was going to order the Turkish poached eggs but then I heard about the Tasso ham biscuit bowl and we both ended up getting it! I'm so glad we did because I would have had food envy. It came with fried diced potatoes and I don't know what they did but they were the best things ever! The biscuit was beautiful and it came with an egg. Highly recommend! My husband got the French toast as his sweet item and while I was very full! I tried one bite and it was delicious! The bread is about two inches tall but THE softest bread ever. We stopped by the market side and picked up some cookies and a couple interesting grocery items. Well stocked and full of local options! Can't wait to return to this beautiful place! read more

I've wanted to try this bakery for awhile and finally remembered it and stopped by for some baked goods to go. I got the spinach and feta croissant, cinnamon roll, campfire smore, and chocolate cheesecake croissant. I knew the chocolate cheesecake croissant being the last one meant it was a hit and I was right. Absolutely divine!!!! Easily one of my favorite meals i had this year. The food, drinks, and bakery items are exceptionally flavorful and well executed. Price is right. Comfortable clean dining. Service is ok. Dress vibe is casual during brunch but can see it could be a bit more intimate during dinner times. Able to rsvp online and would recommend to do so on the weekends and peak dining times. The parking lot is free but small with a one way entry from 16th St and the exit on to Lynhurst St. But there is plenty of additional free parking in the lot across 16th street. I look forward to coming back to dine in again. If I'm ever in the area and want just a coffee and bakery stop, i could do so on the cafe market side. The market offers a few ready to go items and some specialty food and craft items. I wish they provided an option to warm up some of the bakery items as some taste better warmed but i dont think they offer it at this time. read more

Absolutely delicious!! This was seriously one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The Shakshuka is a bit spicy, but soooo yummy. I only wish it came with more bread to dip! I also sampled the biscuit bowl that someone else at the table ordered, and it was equally incredible. The vibe of this place is really fun as well. Brand new place in the heart of Speedway. Borage feature artisan pastries, fancy coffee, and a full menu of farm-to-table entrees. I went for breakfast and grabbed a seat at the counter in the cafe. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and a latte. The sandwich was fantasitc with homemade sausage, cream cheese, egg and pickled onions. The bad side is my latte never made it to the table. I was told the line was really busy. I'll cut them some slack since they just opened but they need to get that resolved. The cafe part of the building is different from the store part where the coffee is made. The servers have to walk all the way over to the store to get your drink. Thats going to get ugly when its busy. After my meal I walked over to the store and looked at all the gorgeous pastries in their case. Everything looked awesome and I look forward to trying them soon. Give it a try and be patient with the kinks while they are new. read more

There are still folks who live in Speedway who haven't heard that Borage exists at 16th Street and Lynnhurst. Let's get the word out to everyone regardless of where they live. Borage is a great addition to Speedway plus in a great location. A large, free parking lot, handicapped parking just feet away from the entrance plus another parking lot is directly across 16th street. The dining room is large with an upscale but casual atmosphere with an abundance of sunlight. Another large room is around the corner with a coffee shop and bakery with fresh veggies and fruit and some staples. The fresh flowers are always so attractive and perfect for you or a hostess gift. Comfortable seating throughout the bakery with a large sofa, 2 and 4 top tables by the windows. I stopped today for pastries and decided to have lunch, too. Unfortunately, it was 1:50 pm and they close at 2:00. I thought they closed at 3:00 but that's the bakery hours. I always get the hours confused. The server said I could get a carryout. I ordered the Taylor's Family Casear Salad. It was a generous amount of romaine, radishes, sourdough garlic croutons, white anchovy, pecorino, and pepper. The salad was fresh, crisp with tasty croutons and the percorino was a nice touch. I've also enjoyed the All Day Breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage patties, choice of potatoes and sourdough toast with butter and jam. At the bakery, I decided to order the large, gooey cinnamon roll with lemon cream cheese frosting, a sticky bun that lived up to it's name and lastly, an excellent large, flaky crossiant stuffed with yuzu cream. I can't wait to have these later this evening. We shared these and no one was disappointed. The service has gotten faster since the first time I was here. This place is so cute and unique! The decoration and fun and it's very near and clean. Service was prompt and efficient. The food was pretty good! Very buttery so if you're into that type of thing this is your place. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. The attached market is also awesome with tons of local items and to go containers of some of their menu items. I was really looking forward to trying this place based on reviews. I stopped in the market side and ordered a baguette, a toasted bagel with cream cheese, and an iced caramel latte. I ordered and paid then browsed the market area. After a few minutes the barista announced, "iced caramel latte with oat milk," which is exactly what I ordered. So I walked over and grabbed my coffee and waited for my bagel. A woman (customer not employee) walked past me and rudely said "I hope that tastes well" and rolled her eyes. I was a little confused but whatever. Then the barista came over to me and said, "did you order an iced caramel latte with oat milk?" I told him I did then he proceeded to tell me I had taken someone else's coffee. Now I understood the woman's comment because it was her coffee I mistakenly grabbed. I continued to apologize, but she continued to be rude even though it only took them maybe 3 minutes to make her another one, and we had both ordered the exact same coffee so there was no way for me to know this was not mine. This could have all been avoided if they asked for a name with the order like most other places. When I got my bagel it was cold even though I had ordered it toasted. The coffee tasted a little watered down as well. Overall a disappointing experience, paired with staff who seemed like they didn't want to be there. read more

Loved it all. The cocktail menu is awesome and our server made the dining experience fun. We went here for my mother birthday party and the accosted our 15 people plus party fast and efficient . The have an extensive menu with a lot of different options and break. They have specialty mimosa with apple cider which was different but good , they also have traditional mimosa with orange juice but I wanted to try something different. Borage also has a full service bakery with fresh breads and pastries. I will say if you have kids with you menu is not traditional so my just want to get the kids pancakes and bacon something simple other than that good experience read more

A unique and hidden gem in Speedway that's not your average brunch place! This cafe/bakery has the cutest vibes and quality food for an affordable price. We were seated right away on a Sunday afternoon and service was quick with our food. We got this iced berry matcha that was so pretty, a veggie frittata with an Asian twist which was so unique, and the breakfast sandwich which came with this perfectly fluffy egg. Everything tasted so good and was super aesthetic too. Fun atmosphere, great server who was helpful, and amazing food and drinks! Started our meal with a honey cinnamon latte and apple cider mimosa along with their seasonal hand pie which was filled with raspberry pear with a hint of ginger. Get this if they have it! So buttery and flakey with a tart filling. Our main course selections were the breakfast sandwich with sausage and one of their specials, the pimento prosciutto grilled cheese. Both were fantastic! After our meal we browsed their marketplace and got a chocolate croissant to go, and spent a little time relaxing and reading in their seating area which has large windows and plenty of natural light. This is such a cute spot in Speedway! I wasn't looking for a heavy breakfast today so I got a chocolate croissant and yogurt parfait. Both were delicious! The croissant was so good, crispy yet soft. Very cute spot in speedway, the food was good. Although I felt like I was still hungry after eating my turkey sandwich. Chips and a pickle would have been nice. Server was efficient, not especially friendly. It was nice that they took reservations. So we were seated promptly. But it was not busy on a Wednesday at 12:30, but still nice they take reservations. I was honored to be invited to Borage's soft opening and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The staff were all extremely helpful and attentive, the breakfast sandwich is to die for, and the pastries were SO GOOD! I was able to return more recently to the market side and picked up a couple of pastries and coffee with my little family. The market is so spacious, beautifully decorated and well set up. My baby enjoyed watching an employee making cinnamon rolls through the glass while we waited. Was sad to discover that you can only order the breakfast sandwich on the Cafe side but that's okay, we'll be back soon! Our coffees were delicious and the pastries were amazing. If you live in speedway, or visiting for the Indy 500 make sure you stop at Borage! Or just an afternoon for some good food. Check this place out! It's literally a one stop all kinda place. You have the restaurant side which serves American eatery with fresh local foods but combining different types of flavors in one dish. They serve brunch and dinner! My favorite brunch item is the Loaded Biscuit Bowl! Then you have the cafe side that serves delicious lattes and in house pastries which you can look at through their open windows at the kitchen side. That's not all! They have a grocery store, plants and local boutique items like claw clips shaped in fruit form?? Adorable! Highly recommend this restaurant! Borage coffee prices and the one small size cup you offer are ridiculous. Came there this morning and they have one size cup that is almost $4.50 each, almost $9.00 for two. I had the lady cancel my order and went to Founder's Grounds which is very good coffee and paid $6.50 for two large coffees. read more

I really want to love Borage, I really do! But even though the vibe is my jam and being someone who enjoys eclectic food a la Ft Sq's Milktooth, I just can't seem to even like a few of the essentials: -the parking lot is tiny compared to the quantity of seats. Plus, the restaurant location isn't as walkable as Main St in Speedway so it's challenging to get in the door in the first place. -once inside, you can enjoy the vibe or order, but every time I've been on the bakery side I have been served by staff that seemed annoyed that they had to take my order. They don't want to make small talk, but they also seem to want to make any talk, period. This has happened during three separate visits with three different staff members. -pastries and coffee are okay.... But not for the prices they charged. Not gonna lie, a post-lunch pastry that I purchased didn't keep very well to the next morning either because berries became moldy and pastry crust turns soggy. Highlight was the Gobbler sandwich... it doesn't fix the above, but it is mighty tasty if you end up here for a meal. read more

In the back of the market is a small hallway to access the restaurant. Love the menu here. Such a variety. We settled on the bowl and it was delicious. It looked very small, but there was more than met the eye and we were satisfied with the meal. We also had one of those little cakes with the Elderberry . Forgot the name and cannot pronounce it anyway, but this was the star of my morning. It is small also, but delicious, so well worth it. It has the slightest little crunch as you bite into it and the inside is soft like a bread pudding almost. And the taste is superb. It goes wonderfully with the coffee. We had just regular coffee, but it was worth mentioning. Very good coffee. Again very small cups, however, free refills... ... that is if you can get someone's attention. Service here is sorely lacking unfortunately. While friendly it is sooooo sloooow. Both the kitchen and the wait staff. There were only 3 other tables other than ours in the restaurant, yet we were in there almost 2 hours. It seems to be well staffed, but for some reason it's not coming together. So make sure you are not in a hurry when you visit. Also on a side note, the parking lot is NOT accessible from Lynhurst despite an open driveway. That is only to exit going north onto Lynhurst. This one has been on my list for a long time. I just recently moved to Speedway so now was the perfect time to try. What an amazing asset to the community. The space is decorated beautifully. The cinnamon roll latte was excellent and I did enjoy the biscuit bowl - the biscuit was just not as fluffy as I would have like (preference issue). After lunch, I headed over to the market to pick up a cinnamon roll for my partner. Can't wait to return to check out some of their yummy drinks and dinner options. A must! read more

I wish I had ordered a bowl of soup with my lamb flatbread, but it probably would have been too much food. Texas sheet cake is everything you would hope for: fudgy and sweet.
