Next year, think bigger!…read more
And, by bigger, I mean a bigger location; not your parking lot. It was a great thought, though, really! But the tiny parking lot of a brewery might not be the best place to hold a festival. Couple that with the fact that there was only like 5 Porta Potties for around about a thousand drunk people, it was teeming on disaster.
Let's start with VIP. I'm not sure what extras and amenities they were promised, but I never observed any. The VIP lounge itself was just an indoor waiting room-type environment. Yes, it had couches, and yes, it had free (health bar) snacks, but that was literally just about it. The indoor bathrooms were cool at first, but when the line for the Porta Potties got freakishly long, non-VIP people started coming in from the outside and bum rushing the bathrooms and other facilities. Within seconds, the bathrooms were packed full with lines down the hall, and every VIP snack placed out was devoured. Looking around me, I don't think the other VIP patrons were pleased. And, not to say it helped alleviate the VIP/Porta Pottie situation at all, but there was also a line of people down the sidewalk outside the venue taking leaks on people's cars, tires, walls, down alleyways, etc. Not something I really wanted to witness.
Another situation was the pale ale-only cans. Draft is cool, but sometimes you just wanna hold onto a nice, cold can of beer. Can't really complain here much, though, because this was a festival for the promotion of the company's new "Sun Drenched" beer, which was a pale ale. Lucky for you if you like pale ales; unfortunately for me, I despise them. They had other selections on tap, but not a huge variety. Like 3, to be exact. And if you didn't like raspberries or graham cracker stouts, it just probably wouldn't be your day. The latter was extremely heavy. I can say that the raspberry bock wasn't too bad, though!
Overall, DEFINITELY needs improvement if they plan on making this an annual event.
