We did the membership for $170 for year for the family which seems like a great deal if you go more than a few times.

There are two glaring things though that make me hesitate to ever want to make a second trip. One is the cafe. I'm not expecting the bougie majesty like you get at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but this is in Denver. I'd consider us a pretty cosmopoliton city & this being THE Children's Museum for CO (since it's in our capitol), it should have a proper quick service option. Cold food options, fine, but a microwave for hot options? So disappointing. I noticed a lot of space dedicated to private parties, etc. Can we not junk that in favor of a real sit down spot? The worst thing though was the behavior of the older children that make the museum unusable in certain areas. Seemed to specficially be the kids on field trips. My nearly 2 year old loves a ball so you can imagine his delight in discovering the "Kinetics!" area. Despite there being what seems like a ton of balls, a bunch of unruly older children have managed to hoard them to where even adults can't wrangle one measly ball for their kid to hold. Once my poor son managed to acquire one, he ran off to a quiet corner & refused to let me show him how the exhibit worked with the tubes, etc. because he was too concerned about the ball being taken from him. Well, he was right to be concerned as these selfish older children came over & tried to take the ball from him despite them hoarding the entire room's balls insisting that they need that one too. My husband's head nearly exploded. The Bloom room is really the only safe haven for any kid let alone the young ones but my son will age out soon and then what? He's 99 percentile so even though he's one, he's already the size of a four year old but he still gets run over in rooms that are supposed to be for "all ages." Once my son ages out of the Bloom room there really is no incentive for us to come back here as the experience is way too violent, overstimulating, & a bully's playground. Similar instances happened in the Bubble room & the Market as well with different gangs of field trippers. We came on what felt like a very average day crowd wise (Thurs 9-11:30AM) so I can't imagine how awful it would be on a busier day. Really a shame that poorly parented/chaperoned kids have to ruin the experience of so many other children as I've seen multiple other reviews complain about the same thing. I should have take them more seriously.

Unfortunately, the experience getting there and being packed in shoulder to shoulder with people was not fun at all. I tried to stay positive, but it ended up being long lines, parking chaos, and overall disappointment. Parking has always been limited, so plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early to circle for a spot. The lines felt like TSA at the airport, which really took away from the experience. As for the event itself, it was mostly moving lights and some carved pumpkins lined up in a row. A few of the larger sculptures were cool, but beyond that, there wasn't much that felt new or exciting. For their 10-year anniversary, I expected something more impressive. Sadly, we won't be going back next year or recommending it to others. If you want a fun, spooky event that's actually worth it, go to Magic of the Jack O' Lanterns instead. That one never disappoints.

If it were spread out throughout the entire month of October, I believe it would help diffuse those claustrophobic lines. Other then those two issues, the lights and Halloween scenery is lovely. I won't say much to not ruin any surprises, but there is nice amount of things to see. My favorite event at the Botanic Gardens is the Christmas one because of the synchronized light show. The Halloween one is second place. It would be cool if they added Halloween music and synchronized light shows. There are some spots to buy food and snacks. Many items get sold out quickly, so be sure to buy yours as fast as you can. Lots of little children at this event and they seem to enjoy it just as much as the adults. Parking garages available and it's free, however parking is limited. We found a spot after circling around for 30 minutes. Denver is a busy city, so that's expected.

This was my daughter's idea. We met at her apartment, and walked to the Center. We were greeted by a very nice lady, paid the admission, and walked around. The current exhibition is about the history of corsets. NGL, made me want to start wearing mine again. OMG, such tiny, tiny waists! And fun stories. One corset was worn by a woman who would paddle her children with the baleen from her corset!! That made us laugh. The Center is a Victorian house. We did the self-guided, because it was close to closing time. We didn't get to see upstairs, alas. I think that's only on the guided tour. This is a time capsule, the story of the cook and house manger, Carrie Erickson. The range is MAGNIFICENT. There are two ice boxes (you can open the smaller one). I cannot imagine cooking on that range. Wow. There's a pantry and a butler's pantry. There are silver tea and coffee services, heavy and chased. I really, really wanted to polish them, lol. Beautiful crystal. The ceilings are high, the walls paneled with wood or covered in wallpaper. The parlor furniture looks uncomfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! The historical notes were useful, showcasing different women of the era. The gift shop has many, many books, and a small selection of fun stuff. We like supporting museums, so I got a pin and a water bottle, and my daughter bought a tote bag with pictures of "badly behaved women" who made history. Vive la femme!

I booked tickets online to the historical tour and after a lunch at nearby Leven, we made our way to a gorgeous house on the corner of 13th and Bannock. We were the only women on the historical tour, which made for a more intimate and in-depth tour with our guide - who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and wowed us with stories of the family, and women who lived, learned and created a community within Denver. Both mom and I enjoyed the 1-hour tour, cutesy gift shop and the volunteers who spend their days educating the masses. I'd highly recommend this tour for women of all ages because it's a fun slice of women's history in the heart of downtown Denver!! PRO TIP: Check out your local county library perks/pass program. A ton of local museums offer FREE passes to explore and learn! Mom and I have been on a mission to take advantage of every FREE museum opportunity so seriously, check it out cause WOW!!

The Denver Mile High Tree has been a holiday tradition since 2019, but it has led a somewhat…read morecheckered existence, starting on 16th Street and then moving to the DCPA Sculpture Park, Civic Center Park, and in 2025 to the Tivoli Quad on the Auraria Campus. The tree is 110 feet tall (higher than the Rockefeller Center tree and tallest in North America) with 60,000 LEDs and choreographed light and music shows. It's a free event, operating from late November to New Year's. One of the best aspects is the ability to walk inside the tree which is 39 feet in diameter at the base and accomodates quite a few people. You can lie on the grass and look up at the amazing images which is a surreal experience. The tree was a collaboration between Spain's ILMEX Illumination and Brut Deluxe studio. It is definitely worth a visit.

What a beautiful place in the middle of a city!…read more My friend is a photographer and we thought she'd get some great pictures here so we booked a day at the garden. Entry was easy and there were so many people but the garden grounds are so big that you never feel crowded. It was a very hot day, I think it was close to 100° so we really enjoyed some of the inside areas as well as the shaded areas. I'd love to visit again when I'm back in Denver.

It actually looked closed when I first pulled up, but that's just to keep the light pollution down. The Tour: The night kicked off with a fascinating presentation by Dr. John Everette. He walked us through the entire evolution of the field. From what it was like to be an astronomer in the 1930s, manually tracking and hand drawing every observation. All the way up to the cutting edge technology used today. It was so neat to see how the profession has transformed while the passion for the stars has stayed the same. The volunteers were sincerely excited to share this history and were so open to everyone's questions. The Inside Scoop on Tours: If you want to see the big 1894 Alvan Clark telescope, there are two ways to do it: - Public Nights: These are the $4 ticketed events with the presentation (what I did). You need to book these months in advance on the Denver Astronomical Society website. - Open Houses: Once a month, they have a Star Party on the lawn. The lawn is FREE, but you can pay a $2 donation to head inside the building and look through the giant telescope without a reservation. Overall: The clouds moved in by the time our talk was over. So I didn't get to look through the lens this time but the education and the energy of the staff made it 100% worth it. I'm already planning my next trip back!

Good deals can be found, but look around first since I have seen some vendors hiking up prices way more then other booths with the exact same product. Also some will try to pass of modified or fake crystals as the real thing. Be careful what you buy. Food and drink is super expensive so be prepared for that. They don't care about outside food or drink. There are also water fountains where you can fill a water bottle. Wear good shows and be ready for a lot of walking.
