No moonshine bootlegged here that I know of! It's all ice cream at this roadside stand. At first I shuddered at the thought of Hershey ice cream, only to find out that it has nothing to do with the subpar chocolates of the famous confectionary. This Hershey ice cream was pretty tasty! The brown butter bourbon truffle had a great balance of sweet and salty. I'm anxious to try other flavors. They may even have more than 31 flavors that a certain competitor claims. I was less impressed with the soft serve. I ordered a Campfire sundae which included fudge syrup, graham cracker, and marshmallows. The vanilla soft serve was flat tasting (even more flat than vanilla is expected to be) and I didn't care for the cheap graham crackers and marshmallows which didn't add much texture or flavor. The people behind the counter were very nice. I will go back but probably not for the soft serve and if I find another hand dipped flavor I like I'll probably up the review to a 5. read more

This is a really cheap good ice cream shop! I think it is family owned but either way the girl who served my family and I ice cream was very sweet she had dirty blonde hair and tattoos. I always stopped at bootleggers ice cream because she made the most wonderful strawberry cake to go underneath vanilla ice cream and strawberries and syrup and then added these cookies or should I say sticks of strawberry cookies that got stuck around the edge of the ice cream. Every time I pass there when I visited my family once a month I would stop and get strawberry shortcake. The last two times I stopped I had issues and it took me two weeks to reach the owner and then when she called she said that they would create a free strawberry shortcake for me. I want to explain what I was telling her the problem was - I ordered a strawberry shortcake and the girl put just about a half an inch of ice cream in the bottom of the cup filled it full of whipped cream and put a 1 in by 1 inch square of strawberry cake and about three pieces of strawberry on it. I said this is all whipped cream and a tiny square of cake and usually when they make it it is a slice of cake in the bottom of the cup with ice cream and lots of strawberries and strawberry syrup around it and a little bit of whipped cream to top it off and a cherry. The girl said said well I can remake it for you so I asked her to, then she filled the cup full of ice cream and put a 1-in by 1 inch square of cake on top and about three pieces of strawberries. I said don't worry about the whipped cream and cherry and I took it with me and I did eat it but there was no sense in calling it strawberry shortcake because there was no cake it was all just vanilla ice cream which is soft serve that has not much flavor that's why you need the strawberry cake in the strawberries with the syrup. So I called the owner like I said earlier and she said she would give me a free strawberry shortcake so I stopped by the other day and the girl put so much ice cream in the cupthen she put some crumbs of the cake on top and about three pieces of strawberries there was so much ice cream when she handed it to me it was running over the sides of the cup and by the time I got down the stairs to head towards my car ice cream was running down my arm dripping off my elbow. I think that was done on purpose to say will you want an ice cream so we're going to give you a whole bunch. Well I could not take that in my car and there weren't enough napkins to keep that from running all over my car and my clothes so I threw it in the trash. I called the owner the next day and she said I'm really not sure what you expect me to do you said there wasn't enough ice cream the first time and then now this time you're saying we gave you too much and I said well usually it's a piece of cake in the bottom of the cup with some ice cream on top and room for strawberries and syrup around the ice cream with a really good two strawberry cookies that are like straw shaped now it's just a cheap wafer that has no flavor and I would think you would train your employees to make sundays the same way so your product would be consistent and she said well everybody makes them different I said so one time when I come I might get strawberry cake with some ice cream and lots of strawberries and syrup and then another time I come I'm going to get nothing but vanilla ice cream and some crumbs of cake sprinkled on top with three strawberry pieces? And she said well they do the best they can you know they're just high school girls but I don't know what you want me to do about it because you complain there wasn't enough us cream and when they give you more ice cream you complain. What do you want and I said what I want is strawberry shortcake like you used to make it every time I came for the last year. And she said everyone makes it a little different you just have to tell them how to make it and I said I just feel like maybe I should not come back anymore since you don't feel it's important to train your employees to produce a consistent product. And she said I really would like to talk to you in person because I think you have some other issues but are you taking care of someone that is sick are you stressed out I said I don't believe so I just would like to have the same product every time I come but she's determined she wants to meet me in person because I have other issues and I'm like no other issues except if I'm going to pay that much money for a strawberry shortcake I would like it to be consistent but since you do not feel like it's important to show your employees the way they should produce a product so it's consistent every time somebody comes back I believe I will not be stopping there anymore. Won't be back. We've been before and it was ok, but this time was it. My large cherry milk shake was literally a medium sized cup of milk with a splash of cherry flavor, and my wife's Cowboy had less than a kitchen measuring "cup" of ice cream. It looked like a kid's serving size. The items cost $7 each and we left in shock. Food City will get our ice cream business going forward. In town for an event and kept driving by; finally stopped. So many choices of hard scoop and over 20 flavors of soft serve. Have you ever seen that many flavors of soft serve?! I am sad to say that I have to change my score to one star. This place has had 2 health inspections since they opened and both times the inspector notated that they have an insect/rodent problem. This place is new and should not have this issue. And after being notified about it, they should have done everything they could to rectify this issue. Sad to say, but I will not be returning. read more
