It's the kind of place where you feel like you've stepped into a storybook--if the storybook had cinnamon rolls and zero cell service. We picked up a loaf of their sweet sourdough--along with a tactical variety of cookies and pastries, because generosity is important but so is sampling. That Southern sweet sourdough? A beautiful contradiction in loaf form. Tangy enough to remind you it's sourdough, but with just enough sweetness to make you wonder if it's flirting with you. Toasted, buttered, and paired with morning coffee, it made each day of our stay feel like a slow dance on a porch swing. Sweet, tangy, a little rustic--like comfort food that dressed up for Sunday service but still wore its comfy shoes. Our friends, local residents for at least 2 years, had never been. Never!
